Hello Christian,I have just had to reinstall XP after a major system failure and of course have lost everything.Would you be kind enough to post the FSX CFG file that you have posted before.ThanksRegardsRichard

Well I decided to roll back to Beta 5, as Beta6 caused some problems for me.Unfortunately, I can't get Beta 5 to work again. I've tried to get rid of everything from Beta6. I removed the TileProxy folder, the photoreal world, the cache folders, proxyuser.ini file etc. It's downloading tiles from the net, they end up in the correct cache folder (I checked) and the World folers are populated with files. Still, this is all I see in FS:http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/176969.jpg

Screenshots showing the good and the bad with Tileproxy Beta 6 go here.Place stunning water sceneries, graphical mishaps, water accidents (floods) and other fun stuff here. Please state which FS version you used (FS9/FSX) and where the shot was taken.

I am planning a home built system specifically for using FSX and Tileproxy. Is there a performance advantage to using a quad core processer over a slightly higher clocked dual core processer in terms of avoiding blurred textures? I remember a previous post where someone (Triangle?) had very good results when they adjusted their affinity settings on a quad 6600 cpu. Thanks, Stobbe

When flying over the Google campus in Mountain View California, I am unable to achieve in FSX the same level of detail that is available on Google maps. Can someone tell me what is TileProxy's highest level of detail when running on FSX, and also provide suggestions for the TileProxy and FSX settings needed to achieve that level of detail?Any thoughts or suggestions will be appreciated.Cheers,Robert

I think people will love this. These shots were taken during various stages of water blending/water mask development and are not representative of the final quality of the product. Bah, I am talking like a company PR spokesman here. Please notice that this is close to what you see in some commercial photoscenery packages, where water masks are usually generated by hand. These masks however, were generated with software and without human intervention. And it's still fast enough to be real time generated.ENJOY these 3 locations:Near Friday Harbour ( the colors a bit washed out unfortunately ) Dillingham Field on Oahu, Hawaii (no addons, except TP and an additional mesh)The …

Recently I walked into Boston on virutal earth. The 3d buildings are almost all there, and they look incredible. It gave me a great sense of nostalgia and I almost shed my tears. Yes I lived in the real city for 1 year and I walked every street.I never turn on autogen, cause it looks so false and artificial. Now if it's possible to see those buildings with tileproxy, and fly over them!I know it is very difficult. But tell me: is it slightly possible?

This is with DXT1 tiles containing single bit alpha water masks. This texture format would also be FS9 compatible. The source data is NASA SRTM V2 data rendered to a bitmap at 1 arc second pixel resolution. First, a very small lake near Bolzano, Italy. You see that the data appears to be about 1 "pixel" off. But overall still a pretty good hit.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/175809.jpgSome lakes obviously haven't been completely scanned by the satellite. Possibly obscured by the shadow of the steep rock formations when viewed from space.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/175810.jpgParticularly complex coast lines don't quite get resolved so well by the SRTM V2 data.htt…

I was wondering if it's possible to configure hitta.se to work with TP as it provides very good coverage of Sweden. Here's an example:http://www.hitta.se/LargeMap.aspx?z=3&cx=1...&PointY=6639491

Admittedly, not EVERY spot looks as nice as these, but nevertheless you will find a lot of sweet spots like this. All of this is near Marseilles, France.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/176632.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/176633.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/176634.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/176635.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/176636.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/176637.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/176638.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/176639.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/176640.jpg

Hi. So as two or three betas have been released since last time, I decided to try TP again.Initially it loads up fine. As I fly, it keeps up reasonably well for a minute or two, then it happens as you can see in the picture below.. The aircraft leaves the "cross" of high detail, and beyond its boundry, the sim doesn't load in more detailed textures at all. Inside the cross, it keeps up reasonably well, I was seeing about 5m or 10m textures all the way to the edge of the high detail area (brighter colours). I'm using Virtual soil. It should be noted that the TP output window keeps ticking away, downloading tiles all the time. If I do a "Refresh Scenery", the high detail cr…

Well, after being able to play around with TP for a while without technical hickups or blurries, there are some other things which occoured to me.1. Which server is the best, bandwidth-wise? This is probably dependant on your geographic location, but when using the online browser, it seems Google and Microsoft are faster than Yahoo at my end.2. Switch services without scenery refresh - is that possible? I guess the scenery refresh is done to purge as much of the old data as possible. Often, I find myself switching servers on longer flights, when flying from an area where service #1 provides better coverage, into a large area with better coverage of #2. On those occasions,…

At some point there was mentioned creating a method for adjusting the color balance of tiles/photos that TileProxy downloads. A considerable part of the coverage is too green. It would be nice to have a utility function that would allow wholesale changes to red, green, and blue levels. Perhaps a representative screen composed of several tiles (800x600) could be used to make the adjustment and then in a batch process the three adjusted values applied to all the tiles. The question is how do you define "all the tiles". Some cached tiled areas may be quite ok while others need changes? This might be solved by having more that one cache per server. As an example you may initi…

Since we have this new forum, I guess it makes sense to post a few pics in here :). I'll start the ball rolling with a couple of shots from a flight over Switzerland (somewhere around Geneva), and another couple from Hawaii:http://www.mikesteven.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk...tileproxy01.jpghttp://www.mikesteven.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk...tileproxy02.jpghttp://www.mikesteven.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk...tileproxy03.jpghttp://www.mikesteven.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk...tileproxy04.jpgMany thanks to Christian for this great utility and to Google Earth for the photos.Cheers,DD

Hi all, I have created some nice waterblend masks for my home town and they look great with tile proxy 4. They dont however seemed to be working as well in tileproxy5. Im new to all this so Just wanted to get some help if possible with the follwoing- To create the water blends Ive been loading up the 1024x1024 bmp files created by tileproxy and then creating a mask where the water needs to be and then resaving as DXT3(4bit alpha channel) format so i can get a transparent blend. This was working in tileproxy4. What im no sure about is- should i just save these bmp's as SU/LM or WI (at the moment saving all 3) versions and is working mostly. Seems to be random which extensi…

Is there an easy way to put the cache and BGL storage areas on any disk. I have windows and FSX on C: plus other stuff. That is where TileProxy also exists. Can Tile Proxy be installed anywhere, i.e. any disk or must it be in the FSX folder?Regards,Dick

Thanks for a great app! I am trying to build up a high res cache of South Africa scenery using google. The other providers dont have decent resolution unfortunetly. At Min setting of 17, I get locked out without the load completing. If I restart every day after I get unlocked - will the cache eventually build up to have airport and surrounding city at max res? Or does it flush the cache if the load doesnt finish properly?

Can I just delete a Cache Service folder and rely on TileProxy to restore the set of empty folders? Too many Gbytes being used.Regards,Dick BoleyA PC, an LCD, speakers, CH yoke

Christian... firstly this TileProxy is AWESOME!... Many thanksI have got G*** maps working well ing FS9 and FSX however Y! which I believe has better resolutions for the US is currently at LOD 15 or 14 a black screen around the aircraft. The surrounding hills and scenery look fine however directly below seems to be black. My FS9 only works well at LOD 13 however I would like to try andg get the 1m res in FSX. Is there a setting in FSX I have to change to get the black area around the aircraft to go? Any ideas on how to fix this? These are my settings for Y!max_lod=15min_level=9max_level=15level_mapping=11,12,14,14,14,14,15color_hack=Nocolor_level=0bulk_extend=50Thanks!

Hey Folks,After a few hours yesterday of gazing (and drooling) over TileProxy, I decided to load up my dusty FS9 and give it a whirl. It loaded slowly, as I have read, so I expected that.I took off and it was beautiful-- but only for the immediate surrounding area. I thought maybe switching to a different server would help but alas they all were the same. I browsed and searched the forum but failed to find any results.I carefully watched the TP window as I loaded it up before and saw that it said "Forced max_lod=13". I looked in the manual and didn't find anything. In the ProxyUser file, I have it set for 14, and originally 15. Downgrading it to 14 didn't change the…

A new project: FS Earth Tiles. This builds FSX "native" scenery following a map tile download. Entirely written in C# (.NET)http://www.fspassengers.com/forum/read.php?f=9&i=4634&t=4634"inspired by Tileproxy".Amazing that he did his prototype in 8 days. It took me 30 days to get from concept to a first working prototype.Christian

Spent time reading the posts about this project, amazing...My stock FSX Vista 32 setup is running so well now, I've been holding off installing addons. This one is hard to hold off any more :)Couple of questions:1) Looks like you have to install to see the manual?2) I see beta 5 includes a uninstaller, does it fully clean up the files generated and get you back to where you started?3) Can you turn tile proxy on / off as needed before flying?4) I seen thousands of files get generated, do they stay on the HD, can they be deleted easily?Maybe others too are reading this thread wanting to jump in but just not sure, any comments would be great...
