Considering the Microsoft bid for Yahoo, Microsoft will own two major online map services - if this takeover is successfull. I wonder if both services will stay intact under their original branding then, hmm...

Hello Christian,I just ordered FSX Accelerator in hopes that SP2 might work better for me. I am currently using TP beta 5 and FSX RTM. Will I need to re-install TP after installing SP2? or will it auto-detect SP2?

Hi Christian,Can you "fix" a topic with the download links? Thanks,Hugo

Hi Christian,Version 7 isn't a progress for FS9 users: a lot of black tiles are appearing or tiles that are so much blurred, they seeming to come from an other provider(color difference).Hugo

Faro, Portugal. Those marshlands and beaches sure look fabulous.Alpine, CA (USA). A small airport "on the rocks". Fun to fly with the Ultralite.Add your favourites to this thread.

Christian, The max dl speed I can get is 500K with satellite (which is pretty expensive). If I get a quad core CPU and Geforce 8800GT, would I get descent performance so the high resolution textures can load?Jason

Yes, TP is fun with an F-18 too.http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...id=269083&page=The Beta 7 final will about triple the performance over Beta 6, allowing for jets to be used at altitude. So it is either low and slow or high and fast.Christian

The latest TP version will be pre-loading the tiles that the aircraft will be hovering flying over in 60 seconds. This means that as soon as FSX wants to load them, they are already in memory. What that means for you? Razor sharp unblurred flights at 100 KTS and more. The idea is that FSX can always access the tiles that it needs to, without stalling due to Internet access or file operations.I am currently test-flying this new version.I just had a blue screen (d

Christian: I have just started using Tileproxy for the first time and am extremely happy with what I have seen so far. I have been searching for scenery to my home town for years and have given up. Now I can fly around my city and see where my tax dollars are going too! urp... Thank you very much for your efforts. The Install went fine, I only had a little problem figuring out what to put in the config file for the servers, but... I can certainly understand your reasoning for that.I have installed Version 7 and am not getting tile load times anywhere close to what you describe in the manual. You will see my system specs in my signatures. I see tile preload times of 32 per …

Hello everybody, yesterday night i tried tileproxy for the first time - and i am getting in a fever ;-)Thanks to the author CB ! A great program !!!I managed to edit the lines for the first 2 services and it worked .. nearly as i wanted. Only problem is that the tiles are only 64x64 and some are 128x128 pixel size. I flew around Stuttgart area in Germany and thought - perhaps i have to wait ? But the resolution didnt change.LOD = 15 - so i expected 1024x1024 tilesor have i got to wait ??? My connection is DSL 2mbittileproxy 7-beta 2 - downloaded yesterdayi work with XNview Freeware-Viewer who shows the bmp

I just posted a second preview version leading up to Beta 7. The reason why I am publishing these preview versions is mainly to gather some feedback on the new technologies that were added in each major version. In V6 it was the water masks. In V7 it is increased performance and the moving map.The main reasons that prevents me from calling this the "Beta 7 version" are:* likelyhood of hangups when switching from full screen mode to windowed mode. So my current advice remains to fly in Windowed mode mostly.* no benefits for FSX RTM and FS 2004 users yet.To get rid of the fullscreen instability disable the directx 9 hook in the INI file. But then you also lose the moving map.…

Hi,yesterday i tried the second beta 7 preview for the first time and i have to admit it's working like a charm!!!! This addon is awesome!!!I can't thank you enough for spending this much of your time on this application and sharing it with your fellow simmers. My appreciation is immense!!!I just did a fresh install of vista home premium (32 bit) a few days ago as well as a fresh install of FSX/SP1/SP2.(dualcore 6420, 4gb ram, 8800GT). I did NOT encounter any problems installing your software, and after setting up the .INI it is working like a charm. I already tried different services and the only one that didn't work for me was the acme global one (gave me black tiles ev…

It would look so much better with Water effects set to "Med 2.0" or "High 2.0". Then the blueness is toned down and you get beautiful reflections.Hello Christian,Thanks for the comments in the Screen Shot Forum. I reset the water settings but the water is still pretty blue. Although it's a lot better than the default water.Another issue is the airport ramps are all grayed out? Maybe it's one of my settings are not set right?Otherwise, Beta7 seems to be working fine on my machine with Service 1 and FSX SP1.It would be cool if you could remove the default airports and just see the TP tiles. Or maybe just keep a couple of them. VFR flying takes on a whole new meaning wi…

Just got it configured and going, except I get...proxyuser : No/invalid/outdated/corrupted tile metadata found - rejecting tile Indicated metadata version :2 (Current version: 3)...repeatedly in command window. Then I get some individual tile accesses, but almost always at exactly and only 16 tiles each. Then back to error. This happened when going to "previous" flight running last night with Beta 6. Do I need to delete old tiles with Manage Service Caches? Perhaps I have an error with .ini file. Copied/Pasted services that worked in 6.I get "connected to Flight SIm X" etc. coordinates, even "plane is relocated", as I am now trying a new clean location. Now loads a bit mor…

* You should in the summer around noon time (when the sun is high in the sky). In dawn/dusk or when the sun is low and in early spring or late fall FSX will access winter textures or light maps also, creating much overhead.* You should use the new Tileproxy Beta 7 preview version.* You should own a Dual Core PC (a Quad doesn't gain much more speed over dual)* You should limit your FPS to 15 or so to leave more time for tile I/O.* You should fly with Level of Detail Radius set to Low or Medium. High is overkill and results in low performance.Enjoy ;)

I installed Beta7 on FSX SP1. I edited the INI File and it is working great with Service 1. Haven't tried the other Services yet.Question: Has anyone used other Services with better results? Service 1 is working great and no blackouts. How does TP load files after you've downloaded them? If I fly over the same area over again does TP just load Tile out of the Cache? How does TP look for Tiles? First in the Cache and then to the Service? If it finds the Tile already in the Cache it bypasses the download for that Tile? What is the purpose of the Unload TP driver? Does it need to be run each time you restart TP and FSX?This is a GREAT program and sure fun to use. A BIG …

I did some tweaking of the land/water transitions. In earlier versions there was always this ugly, non reflective transition band near the shorelines which often had a distinctly different color from deep water.I can now control the reflectivity of the water and set a low and a high limit for these reflecions. So for example I can instruct Tileproxy to make water somewhat reflective directly at the coast line and to not use 100% reflectivity in deep water. To me, this looks much more realistic. Also I now allow to adjust the water color from the Tileproxy INI file. So you can tweak it to better match the underlying water color in your flying area. This stuff might find its …

I have been using GE for some time without a problem, but this evening, every request has the response Re-direct followed by a Timeout. Does this mean the Uncle G has cottoned on to me?I restarted and switched to VE and had no problems.George

Hello, I just set up tileproxy and it appears to be loading all the tiles properly, but I end up with the scenery all blacked out. Using LA as a test location with V*E*. FSX SP1 and Vista32. Tiles load in about 5 minutes, which seems fair. Any ideas?

Findings about FSX SP1/2 Multicore functionality in conjunction with FS9 photo scenery----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------If your system has N cores, the first core performs the graphics rendering (Main Thread) and N-1 other cores perform scenery loading and compositing and other background work like placing Autogen and road traffic. Each thread is locked to one CPU core. The Main thread on the first core is split into at least two fibers. (Note: Fibers subsets of Threads that are entirely scheduled by the application). One fiber does the graphics rendering in DirectX and the other fiber is performing scheduling of work j…

A realtime, semi-transparent moving map display showing the Tileproxy loading activity. Not to be confused with a cumulus cloud ;) This it is injected into the Flight Simulator graphics using "black magic". I intend to also add a little bit of text or activity indication also (Tiles per second, status messages etc). And of course this can be switched off.Doesn't work on Windows XP Professional 64 Bit on SP2/Acceleration yet. What you see is Vista Business Edition and FSX SP1 on a laptop with cheap Intel graphics.Christianhttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/182917.jpg
