Hello all, Just started simming and I am really excited about this. I have installed the fs9update.exe patch. When I am flying and look at the ground scenery, I seem to get a lot of the shimmering moire effects that is quite unnerving. I have all my Display detail sliders set all the way to the right for just about everything. I run fs9 on a high end laptop. I tried all kinds of resolutions and still get the same effect. No problems in frame rates. I have it locked at 20fps and its pretty smooth even over manhattan or over himalayan mountains. Will reducing any of the sliders help? How do you add lights to a panel. I want to add some lighting to a portion of my MD-11 panel that is not very legible at night.

I notice that Microsoft rushed to release FSX without apparently addressing many issues that still plague FS 2004. Given that I lack the funds to upgrade my hardware to run FSX, can anyone point me to any 3rd party fixes to the frequent controller-handoff problem that I experience in FS 2004? I'm sure this has been brought up before. Thanks! :-)

Just thought i'd bring to the attention, thanks to "bkircher," the new upcoming 757 from Quality Wings. I don't know how many people know about it but i sure had no idea. I recently successfully installed the Reality XP JLINE 2 guages into my PMDG 1900C using a retrofit downloaded from the Reality XP website. I am now trying to install the guages into the PMDG 1099D without success to date.Has any member installed these guages to this aircraft? If so would it be possible to upload or email to me the panel config file/s.Richard

I know it hasn't been scheduled for flying yet, but it would be nice to see some A380's as part of AI traffic. I'm surprised no one has jumped on this. I used to think this was an ugly plane, but the more I look, the more it isn't!

I just made a new panel for my MD-11 from a bitmap of the VC, but evertime I load the aircraft I have to drag the black box you see in the picture down to the bottom of the screen to bring the panel up to the correct viewpoint. How do I fix this?http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/168935.jpg

Vent on...So there I was with all my addons, everything configured nicely, this weekend, wanting to do a flight. One try, two tries, three tries, followed all by CTDs, errors, blah blah... Whatever I thought, I will reinstall, with most important addons, JUST so I can do a flight. ONLY THAT. Nothing else. So I installed FS9, updated it, FSGenesis mesh, LevelD, PMDG 737, 747, FE, GEPro, FSUIPC...nothing special. Yesterday evening, there I was, flying from EGLL to LGAV - "ran out of memory", like #####?!? Swapping up to 3gb, 2gb RAM... Tried again, there we go, same thing. Can anyone tell me what teh difference is between Flight Environmet CD and FE PRO? I have FE CD but have seen screenies of FE Pro and the screenies for PRO look even better than FE CD. Is there really a difference? Thanks.John

Hi,A strange thing happens in my flights with FS9: at the end of a flight, starting when I am about to land, I get a decrease in fps, that reduce to about one half or more. If I toggle to another application or to desktop with alt-tab, or if I just simply pause the sim and unpause, the fps return to the initial correct value. It's not a problem of scenery, it seems like a problem of memory starting suffering after some time. Indeed if I takeoff, make a circling and land, the fps remain high.My specs are: PIV 3.2 GHz, 2Gb Ram, video card ATI 9800 pro. I have just installed the following aircraft: Lockheed P-38F, P-38G & P-38H for FS2004 by David C. Copley. To me, they are too dark in FS2004. I was looking for one unpainted (shinny alumenium ) [sic]. anyone know of a Lockheed P-38 that is unpainted or a way to change the one by David to a shinny skin? Thanks, jerrycwo4

How would you compare it, in terms of total features, quality of presentation, authenticity etc, with some of the other favourite jet addons, such as the LDS767, PMDG737, Flight1 ATR. I keep getting these two error messages everytime I start FS9, can someone help me get rid of them please?The first one is for the GaugeSound.dll. I entered [old_modules] into my fs9.cfg file then added GaugeSound.dll=1 underneath, but it didn't stop the error message. Hi guys,Praise where praise is due. Navigraph have as of a couple of days ago released their latest AIRAC upgrade to 0703. Included in this is a new AIRAC for the Feelthere B737/Legacy and ERJ type of aircraft ( and the Wilco A320). When Navdata stopped doing updates due to certain limitations and changed to payware to carry the service on the above addons were left on Airac 06/08. As Stephan said he would do, they will be updated and they have. My love for flight sim was overcome by my love for the latest technology. I couldn't leave well enough alone and I installed a clean Vista. Initialy FS9 and FSX and they were running flawlessly. I threw away the wise axiom of leaving well enough alone and changed my drivers. Now my anti-alaising in FS9 only is messed up and I am seeing jagged edges. I have unsitalled and reinstalled the drivers cleaning the the registry with each uninstall. I have tried every settting in nhancer and theNvidia control panel. I have tried beta drivers and NVIDA certified. I have tried it with FS9 antialiasing on on and off. Still nothing. Any suggestions would be appreciated?

For some reason when I fired up fs2004 my exterior lights all of a sudden were not working correctly. When I would turn on either my taxi or landing lights it would cast a gray shadow, making all ground scenery within the lights' spectrum if you will disappear under this gray shadow. That was fixed by downloading and installing "newligth.zip". The strange thing with that is that the "spotlight.bmp" did not exist in my fs9/texture folder, it was as if the original file disappeared.But another problem started just when the one above did.
