I've been a long time FS navigator user. As some of you know that product is not supported anymore. Is there anyone that has both programs can compare the two? If FS commander can do the same things as FNAV. Or is there some comparision chart??Thanks in advanceBill M :(

Hello All:As everyone knows, the installation of many Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004 sceneries often requires the end-user to seek out and download separately those third-party freeware scenery object and texture file libraries created by Abacus Publishing EZ-Scenery, Rwy12 Object Placer Program, etc. However, there are two third-party scenery object files that I cannot find anywhere on any flight simulation site. They are:kbuf04.bgl lightpoles.bgl Does anyone out there know where I can find these two files definitively? The *.bgl file name does not always mirror the name of the original scenery *.zip file that contains it. It's almost impossible to do successful Google …

This probably should be posted on the Commercial Level forum but getting a response there is like pulling teeth.I just acquired the CLS 747-200/300 series and I'm very pleased. Only thing I haven't been able to figure out is the operation of the cargo and exit doors. I can get the loading trucks, air stairs, etc, but can't seem to animate the doors themselves using the standard commands. I tried the buttons on the FE screen, also clicking on the exit diagram touch panel doesn't do it nor does the commands I use for other aircraft. It's probably pretty simple. I'm using the EZ-FDE. Any info appreciated. Thanks

A special thanks to Alex for giving me the inspriration to move to the 3 monitor setup. I now have a great new FS2004 rig made by Jetline Systems and I run it with 3 ViewSonic 26" monitors. Alex has been telling us for months and years how great multi-monitor systems were. I tried to learn from him all I could about how to assemble a computer for 3 monitors, but just couldn't quite figgure out all of the hardware requirements. Jetline did it all for me. I told them what I wanted and they did all of the rest; built me a dream rig that uses three video cards in the new computer. Once you fly with 3 monitors it is hard, if not impossibe to fly with just one again. I use…

Santa bought me a second monitor for Christmas which is set up and works great, only problem is I use VasFmc and FS Commander on the second monitor and if I need to touch a control on these programs the FS9 or FSX engine sound stops. I am aware windows only uses one window at a time but I wasn't expecting the sound to stop.Anyone know of a way around thisGlen

  8. Hello AllIn the last few days i have been flying various ERJs (dreamwings)to this plane I have added the very detailed and fine panel by Bill Grabowski. My question does anybody no where I can find the WAVs that make up the panels sounds.I searched the main fs sound folder, the FSconv folder where the panel resides and everwhere else that i could think of ,but with no joy. I would like to edit some of the panel sounds to reduce the volume particularly the altitude alert which is very loud and nerve jangling.cheers Andy

Hi.I don't want to start a CS bash thread, but I am struggling a bit with the altimeter setting knob.I just completed an on-line flight on VATSIM and couldn't set the altimeter properly for the life of me.I tried the usual, and for what I can see if you hold the left mouse button on the setting knob then the alt setting goes down, and doing the same with the right mouse button increases it, but the problem is that they go so slowly, and don't really go to the proper setting. Can anyone please enlighten me as to how to do this properly.I bought this as I fancied a bit of a change, and while it was at the bargain price too, but there are some things that are not explained at…

I have recently installed an Ai aircraft package but some of the planes are appearing in my Select Aircraft List. I will never fly these planes (there low polygon and probably don't even have panels) so I would like to hide them so they stop cluttering up my Aircraft list. I believe there is something I need to tweak in the .air file to do this but I don't know what or what tool to do it with. Can anynody point me in the right direction? Thanks in advance for any help

This has probably been covered already, but I couldn't find it under any search parameters. I would like to configure my FS2004's aircraft to be OFF when I start up...in other words, I consider it unrealistic when I start my session and the plane's already running. I'd like to go into a session with a plane that's completely off: No lights, no engines on, masters all off. How do I go about doing this? I'm trying to make my experience as realistic as possible. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Hey all!Long story short, I used to be a pretty active member of the Flight Sim Community, even worked here as a Staff Reviewer for AVSIM back in the ancient 2001-2002 era.But shortly after the release of FS9 we had a lot of life changes. Moved to Dallas, started a new job, had a second child. I suddenly found I rarely had the time to really enjoy FS. Plus my old rig wasn't quite up to running FS9 the way I wanted and I had tired of the endless upgrading/tweaking of my computer. I didn't load FS or make a single hardware upgrade to my computer for the last 4 years.Fast forward to now. I just bit the bullet on a totally new PC rig. The kids are often back and forth…

I have owned Flight Scenery's KPDX and KPVD since the both came out a few years ago and although Ive never had issues with PVD (Rhode Island) I have had issues where the sim would freeze, or just close to desktop while using the Portland scenery. This was both on an older machine and now on a brand new AMD 64x2 3.2 GHz w/ 4 Gigs of RAM and a 512 9800GT video card.I occasionally have this happen at Fly Tampa's KMDW as well, but not as much as at PDX/KHIO.Any others seeing this as well? Id love to post this in the Flight Scenery forum, but it's inactive as well as it wont retrieve my password.thanks,

  16. If you own this scenery please check this for me. I got this the 2nd day of release, and immediately found errors in the gate numbering (ground vs terminal), and also errors in the AFCAD. I emailed them with the problems, and supposedly corrected it. They released an update which replaced the terminal, jetways bgl, as well as the afcad. But the update is still not correct. After I applied the update (I did it correctly), there were still errors. Further emails (with screenshots) were sent both ways. Their screenshots were correct, but mine were still showing the mistakes. I deleted KMEM with COntrol Panel, removed the KMEM folder after, and did a fresh install with the sam…

Hi and a Happy New Year!I've got a problem with my FS, my rivers have sunk in hollows (see pictures below). How can I get rid of this occurence? My FS installation is still pretty fresh - the only tool I could suspect to cause this is GE Pro (and maybe the mesh from Flightzone Portland, which I've deactivated in the meantime). My terrian.cfg has not been altered. I hope someone knows how this drawback can be solved... I'd be really greateful.

Hello All:I am installing most of Ed DesRoches & Brent Robillard's Canadian airport Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004 sceneries presently. I am using them just as an example for this query. What are these oddly placed *.MDL, *.XML and *.JPEG files scattered randomly throughout the scenery and texture file folders within these and numerous sceneries created by other authors? I have listed six of them below just so you know what I mean:BEIGE_HANGER.MDLBLUE_ROOF.MDLCARP_OFFICE.MDLOPEN_L_STEEL_HANGER.MDLRED_ROOF.MDLSML_HANGER.MDLSome authors' scenery and texture files within their scenery and texture file folders have corresponding *.XML document files of the same name in t…

Hello,I did budget upgrade to run FS9 for few more years. Very happy with new setup and everything works very well. However there is a slight problem with my 2nd display. I do want to use Ati Adaptive AA since it makes a world of difference - when used there are no significant blurries in most sceneries I use. Now when I move eg PMDG overhead panel to the second display and go back to full screen mode overhead panel is severely blurred while cockpit remains sharp and crisp. I had this same problem (with the entire panel) with single display on the new system but that was cured by adding panelastexture=0. Is there a tweak to address this problem or do I have to choose betw…

Hi, I'm new to this forum. For a couple of years I've been playing FS2004 now as a amateur.A while back i bought myself a car racing wheel for my other hobby: Sim-Racing on the pc.Now I was thinking, I might use my pedals from the steering wheel as the rudders. So I plugged my logitech G25 in, and went to the rudder controls in the FS2004 menu.I selected the pedals, and it worked. So I went in a Cessna and had a go, only to find out my left and right are mixed up.So I went back to the control options, and selected the 'reverse' behind the rudders, and jumped back in the plane. But still the same problem.I, again, went back to the options and saw the 'reverse' was unchecked …

Hi,I have an issue with FS9 that I just cannot fix. When using the Virtual View inside the cockpit, I end up seeing a forward view from the front of the aircraft (ie I don't see any of the cockpit or instruments). Additionally, if I use my hat switch on the joystick it just changes straight to that direction and doesnt pan across.Problem with all this is that I cannot pan around the cockpit to look at switches etc.Very frustrating. Help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Hi and Happy New Year to everyone.....I have a quick question on the FS9 scenery.cfg file.Simply, what is the optimal order in which Mesh, Landclass, Add-On (AFCAD's) and individual airport sceneries should be layered? I have assumed that mesh would sit below landclass but I'm not sure about the others or does it even matter? Thanks for any tips on scenery.cfg management.Best to all,Robin

I just installed a Hunting Percival Pembroke (pembrbaf.zip) But it does not appear in "Create a Flight" it seems all ok all the right folders etc. I have checked the *.air file with AirED Editor and line 105 *Aircraft Type=0 is correct and means it should appear.I have a utility called Aircraft Image Browsing Tool when run and the text file is updated it shows the aircraft.I am stymied has anyone got any suggestions why it does not appear. I have had this maybe once or twice in the past and then I would delete the plane, but now I would love to get to the bottom of this one. Regards JohnMac

For years, I have been totally perplexed by developers using the visual_damage=0 command line in the aircraft.cfg file. I can understand the namby pambies at Microsoft using it because they are who they are. However, who in their right mind wants to crash in pristine condition?Personally, when I slam down a butt heavy MD-88 onto a runway too hard or cartwheel a B777 across the taxiway after a ridiculously tight turn onto an absurdly short final, I want to be rewarded with wings slicing through the air, plane bits flying about and fire scorching turf. Sure, I can and do make the adjustment myself, but why should I have to?I vote for: visual_damage=1If they made a "2" value…
