Crash To Desktop (CTD) Forum

In the past I had crashes while running the program but haven't had them since moving UIAutomation.dll to the root FSX directory. Now, the program runs flawlessly to the completion of flight but when I hit escape to exit the flight I end up on the desktop with a blank FSX home screen stuck offscreen in the lower right. Clicking on it does nothing. Trying to grab the title bar and drag it does nothing. If I click in the blue menu bar area on the right side of the home screen I can get one of the tabs to appear (Learning Center, Settings, Missions, etc.). After that, clicking has no effect. I am not having any issues currently, but have an "FSX hygiene" question: I live in terror of Simconnect corruption. Normally a repair on Simconnect in Control Panel is safe, but may do nothing. Similarly, running the independent Simconnect installations available may not solve problems. But, here's the real bear: WinSxS (side-by-side assemblies). Read up on what WinSxS is, if you want to have some real bit-bucket nightmares! Is it sufficient upon deciding to reinstall Simconnect to simply delete the relevant entries for Simconnect in the WinSxS folder prior to reinstalling the Simconnects? Hello! So I bought an IBUYPOWERPC desktop, and it arrived Thursday. I installed my add-ons, all if fine, runs (somewhat) like a dream. But there is a slight problem. I would be modifying a part of the flight, whether it's changing weather, airports, time, or plane, and it would be loading, then it would say "Flight Simulator X has stopped working" (we all know that message). But the sim. would be just fine! I could be taking off with great frames, all is calm, no major system thing going on, and it would give me that error message, and only give me the option to close the sim. Just did a fresh install of FSX, along with pmdg 777 which is the only addon aircraft I have installed ATM. I installed REX, FSX Global with the newest patch, along with Opus, atc pro X and fsdt jfk, lax, dfw, gsx, phnl. Latin VFR miami v2. I just tried doing a flight from KMIA to KBOS and as soon as I took off I noticed that the whole system freezes for about 10 seconds. Then runs fine for about a minute then freezes again. This happened for the whole entire flight. After I completed the flight I restarted the sim, loaded up at fsdt jfk airport, took off and problem still persisted. Hey guys! I've gotten past the "noob" stages of switching to FSX and there is one question I can't find an answer for. I don't get very many OOM's often but they are annoying when they do happen. My question is, when FSUIPC starts dinging, how can I avoid the upcoming crash? As soon as I hear the ding start up, my textures will stop loading and a lot of times I can still land and taxi in without a crash. But should the memory usage go back down after being at the airport hence everything return to normal? Thanks!

Hi. Im really hope that i can get some help with this issue. I had CDT trouble for the last year, done about everything thinkable to get it fixed also a full reinstall of both W7 and FSX. The biggest trouble i had was BEX MSVCR80.DLL but i think i have been able to fix that now. I was missing some SP of Visual C++ 2005 and 2008. This NTDLL.DLL error im having now is the only Fatal Error thats causing CDT im experiencing lately. Hello all! I'm hoping somebody will be able to help me with this crash. I recently had a new PC built specifically for FSX use. I installed FSX, Acceleration, and a few addons normally. I also had my fsx.cfg file tweaked using Bojote's tweaker tool. I had a little trouble getting through airliner flights initially but it seemed to get sorted out. Hi, I'm hoping for some advise on a rather strange OOM issue I am experiencing and that really has me scratching my head. On my maiden flight with the PMDG 777 I flew a leg from EDDL(Aerosoft) to OMDB(FlyTampa). On approach to OMDB I got the first OOM error in a long time, and certainly the first on my new rig (4770k, 680GTX, 8GB 2400MHz Ram, Win 7 Pro x64, build in June/July).That really surprised me as I have my system set up very carefully to avoid such issues. Hi All, I'm having a bit of an FSX error with windows 8. I try launching FSX and it crashes every time the splash-screen starts up. I'm able to run it in safe mode ok, if that makes a difference. Hey, My FSX is still crashing. It is mostly the uiautomationcore.dll crash, however I have replaced that with the one in the link in the AVSIM H&S guide. It always happens after clicking the right click menu in FS. I also run FSX in Win XP SP3 mode with admin permissions. Hi wonder if you can help I get about 3-4 hours into a flight and the FSX freezes then I have to end the flight and start from scratuch, I'm using FSX but I have the unregistered version of FSUIPC for fs9 not sure if that'll cause problems not sure if I need the FSX version given i have an unregistered version. wonder if anyone has found a solution other than a total autopsy on the system, seems like one problem after another with FSX. Hello, I have a memory leak problem with FSX, which is causing a "out of memory" (OOM) in free flight selection and so far only in free flight selection. It never happened in a normal fligh. So I cannot leave FSX free flight selection open in background, FSX will crash. Few time before FSX crash, textures disapear from the current aircraft. The memory leak can be seen in process explorer in private bytes and virtual size, it about two minutes the problem occurs. Hello, I am having problems with KSFO airport textures. The runways are covered with grass. I have been trying to trouble shoot this problem since early July. I did have an add-on airport for KSFO and later deleted it from FSX due to bad frame rates, and now KSFO is a mess! I had my mesh resolution settings always around 38, but now in order to get rid of the grass on the runways, it has to be at 152. Is there a way to fix this? I prefer lower number settings for the mesh settings. Hello everyone, not sure if this is the right place but here goes. Recently I optimised my FSX and now my PMDG aircraft are looking WAY BETTER texture wise, Which I love. I have my scenery all the way down as I care more about the VC etc than the scenery. After this I've noticed I'll get a bluescreen of death, I don't know why and I would love some help. Man, after two years or more of VAS exhaustion, and O.O.M's, and CTD's because of it, I found the max settings that you can make AND still fly for as long as you want without a VAS/O.O.M happening. I have every setting to do with texture rendering at 100 percent, but now, have Global Scenery set to Very Dense, rather than the full-out Extremely Dense. I had another O.O.M about one hour into a flight the other day going with a flight path/plan between KFNT and KMYR.
