  2. I'm trying to get an FS9 plane to work in FSX - all works fine except that, after a few seconds, the instrument panel of the vc starts to flicker and I can see the runway through it. It's not transparent but about 50%. If I zoom out enough this effect disappears. Any ideas how I could correct this please?ThanksDave

I'm trying to get a Jet City 717 paint kit. According to their website the paint kit was lost when the site was hacked, but the has not be re-uploaded. Would there be a chance that someone here would happen to have a copy of the paint kit saved somewhere?I've tried emailing them a dozen times and have never gotten a reply.Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.CheersAri

Gentlemen,Could someone tell me why my fancy new logo that I just added to my airplane presents out of focus? It's the default Beaver. I converted the DDS files with DXTBmp and edited them with Photoshop. The result looks fuzzy; The logo was created in Photoshop and looks fine as a JPEG. I did have to resize it to make it fit on the airplane, it was too big. Here's what I did, maybe you can spot what I missed. I opened the DDS texture file from the Beaver with DXTBump, flipped it and sent it to Photoshop7. The .bmp file has 1024 textures at 72 pixels/inch. I then saved the .bmp file as a .psd file, so I could add layers. I opened my logo file which was a flattened …

Hi,I am working on the PMDG B-747-400 for my VA and once the day textures are finished, I am now dealing with the night textures. The default external night textures are two files "PMDG_747_FUSE_LEFT_L.bmp" and "PMDG_747_FUSE_RIGHT_L.bmp" but these only display the body fuselage. The day textures of the tail are in a file named "PMDG_747_Externals_T.bmp". There is no default "PMDG_747_Externals_L.bmp" and thus the logo cannot be seen using the default textures.I have followed Leen's indications to create a new night file for the tail part and I have named it "PMDG_747_Externals_L.bmp" but it is not seen although the file is int the right folder with the right name. Have I…

Hey guys, I recently got back into FSX and repainting, but I would still love to learn the techniques of the great painters. Now when I first got into repainting, I quickly mastered slapping paint onto an aircraft, giving it a simple "matt" look. Like this: http://www.flightsim...+ADV.jpg&idx=20(not my repaint btw, so no offence to who's ever it is)Then I learnt about Dirt, Shine e.t.c and my repaints improved from the "matt" look to something better, (no screenshot i'm afraid as I have lost all my old repaints)But I am really interested in learning the techniques to make repaints similar to POSKY quality. I'm not sure but POSKY repaints seem to be semi-photoreal, but…

Hi everybody, I´m new here but I´d like to propose one thing. Nowadays paintkits are avaiable widespread on AVSIM, Flightsim and other websites, but is difficult to find a good index of paintkits available. I´d like to sugest an index list, a pinned thread here maybe, of all the paintkits available. For example:Freesky/POSKYEmbaerERJ-135/ERJ-140/ERJ-145/Legacy 600 paintkits available at www.freeskyproject.comAerodesignsAirbusA318 - PSD - ad318_paintkit.zip (AVSIM)VistalinersBoeing727-200 - BMP - b72vlpkt.zip (Flightsim)Would be a lot easier to find the paintkits having an index like that, What do you guys think about this?post edited by moderator

Hello all,I've been repainting aircrafts for a long time, using CLS planes LevelD PMDG... but I never tried one technique that I will explain.Usually when you resize a texture you can get a loss of quality and better performance, but what will happen when you make a double bigger size? It is supposed to have an improved and detailed texture as also a bigger file size. I've made a repaint for the PMDG747 with the Virgin Atlantic colours. I used their own paint kit, and doubled the size, then I worked with the bigger paint kit, so at first, in the game it should have a better quality. So finally the parts of the fuse and the tail where from 1024 to 2048 exported with DXTbmp …

Good morning,This is my first post in this forum where I hope to learn a lot and bother the less as possible.I have been painting aircraft for a few years and now I think I have reached an acceptable level of skills almost completely thanks to Leen de Jager who has invested (or spent, depending on the point of view) his time with me.I am now dealing with night textures for version 2011 of the aircraft of our fleet and I am not successful. I can proudly say that I am a "manual reader" and try to get information on written documents before bothering directly other people, but I have been unable to go through this although I have read the great manuals of Morgan Dainows and …

Hello fellow painters,A while back, a few flight simmers with FSX developing experience decided to get together and develop a much loved aircraft in the aviation world, the McDonnell Douglas MD-11. We all loved the plane and realised that there was a gap in the freeware market for the MD-11. We looked into it and discovered the only reasonably complete free MD-11 out there was the freeware Overland one. We contacted Overland and they were happy to work with us. They gave us complete permission to make "MAJOR" changes to the freeware MD-11 and release it for FSX.We have edited almost every imaginable aspect, including flight dynamics, contact points, textures and a complet…

Okay you guys have helped in the past so I am back asking for help yet again.I want to paint a B707-700 in the livery of 1980's, the problem is I cant find one for FS9.The only thing I can think of is to paint over an existing livery. I have found one and that livery closely resembles the United livery, the problem I have is how to get rid of the old livery or create a template from that one. I am only doing this for my personal use, NOT FOR RESALE OR UPLOADING!Additionally I suck at repainting, I keep trying and it keeps me out of bars.Thanking you in advance for your considerations.Carl PS- I found the model at HJG, however they have a policy of not painting any airpla…
