Here is a Porter that I am doing for a FSE group called Montana Freight Handlers. I need to fix a few things I found wrong after putting it in the game but for a start I think it isn't to bad.

I saw a very nice looking model on the market, but knowing the author to be somewhat lackadaisical with his mapping I wrote first and asked "are the engine grilles individually mapped on either side of the nose or are they mirror mapped". The kind gent replied "Individually mapped"... So I bought the model with the intentin of doing some EagleSkinning on it.I unwrapped the box and took the model flying - very nice so far. Then I looked at the paint kit and did some colouring in...(All Images below are clickable to open large versions if you want to see the real detail...)Left side: Right side: Texture sheet: Oh yes - he individually mapped the louvres - but only 18, so he…

  4. Morn'n Folks,About a month or so ago - Bill Womack posted a video tutorial on how to paint models in the Carenado forum... The tutorial provided instructions for painting a model that doesn't provide a paint kit and only has a non layered white paint of the model... He was using Photoshop at the time - and - if I recall correctly - uses a feature called "color burn" while applying colors to the model... This process allowed you to merge your new painted layer - with the one below it - while still maintaining all the detail and accents from the original layer...Does anyone know what features I'm looking for in Paint Shop Pro to replicate this process ???I've got to locate …

  6. It's been a long time, since I could repaint to any detail (after I wrecked my wrist). I managed a few simple skins for Misty Moorings and a set of skins for the default Extra, but this work-in-progress has been bugging me for well over a month so far - all those fiddly lines! But there's not much left to do before I can add the specs and save a high definition 4096 pixel set.Enjoy:

Can anyone tell me the best place to find an experienced painter interested in some freelance work? I have a number of freeware flyable planes for FS2004 and I'd like to have some new liveries for a few of them. I'd rather pay to have these made rather than learn myself since I spend far too much time already updating AI schedules and customizing airports with AFX or ADE. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

This is very much a "Work in Progress" and there is much to be done such as:Fuselage detailsreplacement of the circles in some areasslight color adjustmentalpha channels placedgeneral mods to paint work in some areas, particularly the lower fuselage. This is totally hand painted, no "cut and paste what so ever".I am about 30% finished, with around 7 hours invested thus far.Cheers,wombat457

Hello everyone,I was extremely surprised to see that the Orbis livery has never been reproduced for the PMDG MD-11. I know the real bird is a DC-10 but since its almost identical to the MD-11, i thought someone out there would have done it. For the ones who don't know, Orbis Flying Hospital travel around the world to provide eye care to ones in need; it is a such a great initiative and gesture to help poor areas around the world. I am calling on all the talented re-painters out there to find someone who will be willing to assist with this...it is such a great cause in real life, it would be nice to reproduce it in FSX...Here is info about Orbis:http://www.orbis.org...x?ci…

I need to see if anyone is interested in doing a paint job on the 737-800 Ngx from PMDG for compensation. I have my own logos, font and picture files already made. I just need them placed and the plane custom colored. Please contact me at [email protected] if interested.

Hi guys, I am currently trying to complete my first ever repaints in flight simulator, Its been quite a challenge, and a very fun experience... to be honest, I'm hooked, Ive always viewed aircraft repainters as a talented elite in the FS community and I certainly would like to be part of that. I have started with the PMDG NGX and its very user friendly paint kit, however as a beginner to both repainting and Photoshop, many things are still quite unclear to me. I dont know how experienced anyone here is when it comes to repainting the NGX, but my observation is that the painted aircraft in the sim IMHO is too "Shiny" or reflective, This sheen IMO does not look to good …

  13. Started by EagleSkinner,

I have my own (stuck-in-the-mud) views on specular and subscribe to the Microsoft SDK way. There's a good explanation about specular reflection on Wikipeda and another good one hereIn my life I learned that the specular reflection cast by and object depends on the colour of the light falling on the object. The trouble is, I see so many other free and pay mode ls where the dev has made a sepia tone specular texture for his aircraft. The MS way (and, in my understanding - the correct way) is to take the diffuse texture, rotate the colour 180° (i.e. make a negative) and reduce saturation / increase lightness. So when you play around with the HSB - rotation angle, saturation…

  14. Hi folks,I'm new at this game so be gentle :Shocked:I've created a repaint for the Alphasim Texan/Harvard. So far so good.I'm trying to add spec and bump maps, but they're just not showing up/having any effect. I've tried saving in extended BMP (DXT5) and also in DDS format - both with alphas - but no luck.Is this a function of the mdl file? I suspect that the model is an old FS9 one, converted to work in FSX - and that there are no calls or entries for the additional maps. I really haven't a clue - but am I on the right track?Other than trial and error, how would I know whether a particular aircraft/model supports bump and spec maps?Adam.

I've been busy doing other things, but finally came back to finish my latest repaint. This is Jim Tweto's C185F as shown in Flying Wild Alaska. Putting the final touches and will be releasing it this weekend on AVSIM library and flightsim.com. This is for the Carenado C185F Tundra version for FSX.

In the photos attached below you can see this very wierd repainting issue. From a certain angle and a certain distance, the top of the airplane turns GREEN! All the layers have been ligned up correctly so I don't think it's an issue with either Master_MD11_Fuse_Left_T or Master_MD11_Fuse_Right_T.I'm sure someone has come across this problem once before while repainting the MD-11. I simply don't have a clue as to what I need to fix. If need be - I'm willing to upload my Photoshop files to my server so you guys can take a better look for yourself.

Has anybody made or got a A321 full fuselage paint kit for feelthere/wilco? I have made one myself, but I think I am one pixel out somewhere, cannot find where though, so the Thomas Cook repaint i've just done is a wasted afternoon. Unless ive done something else wrongCheersRob

Hi guys,I was wondering what the best paintkit is for the FS9 default Lear 45. I am trying to paint it,but the lines are not seeming to connect with each other as in this paintkit, there are aboutthree parts of the aircraft. I downloaded this kit off avsim. I was wondering if anyone has puttogether an easy paintkit for this plane or if someone knows of a place to get a good paintkitfor it.Thank you,Chris

Helo,I was wondering if someone could tell me which Photoshop tool is used to create the stripes we see in so many aircraft paint jobs lately. An example is attached from "Holgi's" outstanding repaint of the Carenado FSX F33A Bonanza. I suspect the pen tool was used - but I was hoping someone that has created stripes like this could confirm which tool they used. Idon't want to pester you for the procedure - I can probably figure it out. But, I needed to make sure I am using the correct tool before I attempt anything. Thanks for your help!Mark Nault

Hello! I was hoping someone could help me out with a problem i'm having. I did my very first aircraft repaint today, i installed POSKY's 737-800, and downloaded their paint kit, and i copied the textures folder from the repaint kit into the sim objects folder, then i started repainting. Once i was done putting my repaint on the texture.bmp Photoshop wouldn't let me save the painted textures directly into the simobjects->POSKY 737-800->texture folder, so i had to save them on another location on my computer, and then drag the painted texture files into the texture folder, replacing the old white textures. And that worked, fsx starts up just fine, but when i try to lo…
