Well I did it and just wanted to say thank you for an obviously great new program!I do have one question while I am setting everything up.I am NOT running the Skyworld program but I am running a set of clouds made up of various different clouds from their different sets that give me a VERY realistic look using FSMeteo and FS2002.I have noticed you recommend using the default white cloud pack from FS2002.I would like to know what kind of problems I might run into using this set up clouds that I have put together? I know ActiveSky generates the weather in a much more detailed way then I am used to but if the clouds I am using currently looks really nice with default weathe…

hi, thinking of buying this program but before i do, i have one question. In the FS default weather, there is a feature that overides the standard 10sm visibility reading that you get from an automatic reporting station. anytime the visibility is over 10, the station will list it as 10 even if the actual visibility is 50 or more. FS would notice this and adjust to a more realistic visibility. I tried another weather program that didn't adjust and the entire country had 10 mi. visibility, kinda unrealistic. Will activesky adjust that visibility? thx in advance....

Oooops. Looks like I may have goofed. I downloaded the program the same day I bought it, but a few days later, had a computer crash. Now....Emetrix wont let me download it again. Can someone at wxRE help me out, or do I go though emetrix? On the good side, the few days I had with wxRE were very impressive! Thanks,Mike

Have been using SkyWorld SE with ActiveSky, but would like to try reverting to MS default clouds just to see how they work, test frame rate impact, etc. Any idea how to do that? I've tried checking the SkyWorld documentation but haven't found anything about uninstalling or swapping. Entirely possible that I missed something, and I'll check again. But if you have a ready answer, please advise. Thanks!

Damian,Any chance you have the ability to enable force feed back effects to affect my MS Force Feedback 2 Joystick when turbulence is encountered with ActiveSky? I'm not sure where to look or who to ask about this kind of thing. Your thoughts, anyones thoughts?Scott

Hi all,Some users reported a problem with ADVDISP causing failure of FS2002 to update weather information from wxRE. The fix is to update to the latest ADVDISP located at http://www.schiratti.com/dowson.html. Hi Damian, and allJust bought ASwxRE and I am not at all disappointed. Rather the opposite. You've done a heck of a job here Damian! :-) Congrats!!I've been setting up my second computer to run ASwxRE and it works great! THe wx I've been flying these last flights are truly amazing! Some small notes though. It would be great if there was a button to interupt the ongoing download and processing. I discovered that, when trying to download wx from an offline(?) or at least non-cooperative VATSIM METAR-server I didn't have a chance of stopping it and changing it to download NOAA wx until the download timed out. Even when I managed to get the Options window open and was trying t…

Hi Damian,Well i have done some reserch into why i cant get a weather report out of NTTO. I beleave it is because the military base that was testing nuclear bombs has been closed down the last report is 2002/09/12 and it is NTTO 1540 CHECK TEXT NEW ENDING ADDED OIIIYFYXSo i guess you might add that to a list of closed stations... or at least put it down at temporarly disabled I just used this line.//NTTO,S,18,04,W,140,57,2 in the DbBen

I was flying an IFR from KSEA to KPDX running ActiveSky in offline mode with a stored file.About fifteen minutes into the flight, I was getting constant messages from ATC that I was flying above or below my designated flight level. This was caused by alimeter changes. This was happenening about every 1-2 minutes.Am I doing something wrong? Is it supposed to be this way?

  14. Started by Geofa,

Sorry if this has been asked-but for instance-I was just flying in Ksea-nice lower visibility and rain and low cloud deck. When I change to look out the side views-e.g. left wing-the weather vanishes-nice clear blue skies. When returning to forward view the weather is back.Any help appreciated....great program by the way!http://members.telocity.com/~geof43/Geofdog3.gif

ActiveSky wxRE downloads fine. In ActiveSky wxRE's textbox, I read that my location (KDSM) has BRoken OVerCast 7000 and visibility is 25 miles. However, this information (wxd file shows up in D:ActiveSky wxRE OK) is not being communicated to FS2002 which is showing clear, unlimited visibility.I tried quiting FS2002 restarting FS and clearing wx. No help. Probably something easy... I hope! I really did read all the start up advisories!LarryBTW, I also experience out of cockpit screen distortion when I task switch to the ActiveSky wxRE window from FS2002. The fix which works is to Alt +Enter followed by Alt+ Enter again with the FS2002 window selected first. Out o…

Hi all, bought activesky last saturday within 5min - no problems at all - was a good start :-).installation went quick and easy - a quick test showed the correct weather enviroment (i'm leaving near LOWW). made a short testflight from LOWL to LOWW yesterday evening - LOWW reported low vis and low cloud ceiling of OVC004 - my understand was/is, that OVC004 means 400ft AGL, but when i approached LOWW, the ceiling was far below - could only see the rwy when i landed. LOWW is at 600ft and i had the impression, that the ceiling was below the airport...maybe, that was an extreme situation...will run some more tests.overall i'm impressed with this program, no stutters or any othe…

I am at the location of the following metar for plenty of time for the WxRE weather to build in, yet the overcast layer at 1500 feet never shows up. I fly right past the broken layer but never encounter an overcast at 1500.KBHB 150355Z AUTO 01010G15KT 10SM BKN008 OVC015 02/01 A2893Is this possibly because the layer isn't thick enough? My option is set at 200 feet for minimum cloud thickness. By the way how do you know what the "thickness" of a cloud layer is supposed to be? The manual says something about "the thickness in a metar report", but metars don't give any thickness info.Any help much appreciated.

Greetings! I was in a flight, on approach, and ran into a strange quirk. As I approached my wxRE "locked" destination, the in-game and out-of-game METAR messages report 10 mi., but the visibility appeared far lower. I looked in the default MSFS weather settings area only to find it set at 5 mi. I was below the cloud deck (which was "partial", if I recall). For 20 miles or so until landing, I flew in that murk. The flight was in my local area, and looking outside it really seemed almost unlimited for vis. Just tossing this occurance out to the forum in case others have seen the same...-Greg

Don't know if this is anything but as I touched down on the runway the sim just paused for about 10-15 seconds. Has never done that before as this was my first flight with ActiveSky. The program is great and worked flawlessly the entire flight. Followed all the setup procedures. I'm running Win98SE, PIII 850, 512MB, Geforce2 GTS VC. Is their something that I might have checked that caused this to happen?Great Program!!Regards, Doug

As I was installing the ActiveSky WxRe, it displayed some tips, etc.It appears that you don't recommend using FS Sky World??I was just wondering what exactly to do with FS Sky World? Do I restore the cloud sets back to standard FS 2002? If so how do you do that (I could probably look in the FS Sky World docs).. Please advise...Barry

Hi Damian,First of all I must say CONGRATULATIONS FOR YOUR WORK and that I like wxRE very much. As I am one of those guys who like to save METARS and use it offline, let me suggest two options that would IMHO improve even more the wxRE functionality:1. It would be nice to include the date in the METAR file names (thus they'd look something like: YYMMDDHH + (.wxd/.met/.taf / .fd). Otherwise, they get overwritten when Zulu time are the same. I know, you can change the file names manually, but having an application with so many features it would be kind of shame to have to rename the files this way.2. The other option that I would like is for wxRE to be able to randomly load…

Not sure if this has been asked yet, but when using WxRE on vatsim, it rarely can find the ICAO code when i type in the destination to retrieve it's weather. It will give me the TAF data for the destination, but says the code is invalad for the Metar. I tried it with KLAX and KDEN yesterday with no luck, only the TAF data was displayed. If this has already been asked I apologize.

HiMy first flight with wxRE and some concern about the cloud cover. As you can see from the screenshot bkn033 is reported, but it looks more like few033 from the picture. The status-page is also attached. Am I missing some setting here? I have followed all the recomendations about the FSUIPC-settings. I have had this concern with FS2002 before and hoped that wxRE would improve on this issue, but maybee it is not possible to fix this./olle
