Hi all! A while ago, I created a preview of wxRE for the guys at my VA. These screen shots are from an early beta, but they illustrate some interesting features of wxRE. You can look at them here:http://www.fscharts.com/cva/wxre

Gentlemen,Using the wxRE beta program and FlightMaxRemote I am able to generate radar echo's on the FlightMax Remote screen! Here is how it looks...I am sitting at Kaula Lumpur...one of the only stations in the world, this morning, with thunderstorms.[http://www.fsflightmax.com/downloads/temp/wxretrw1.jpg]Also....if you are at a station with snow falling........the FlightMax will show a much lighter precip pattern...just blue and green returns without any RED stuff that indicates a full blown thunderstorm cell.Regards,Mel

Man, I can't begin to describe the excitement I have over this project! Hey, what can I say - I'm an ex bush pilot turned Climatologist - naturally weather is going to be a biggie with me in FS :-).One question here. Being a Canuck, and flying in some fairly remote areas (including to Greenland and northern Norway), will the METAR coverage be complete for the entire world (assuming there is a RW reporting station present at a given location :-) )? I'm just talking METAR's and TAF's now, not Winds Aloft (you've already expained that part quite well). Thanks for your response in advance, and MANY thanks for taking this project on! All the best for the release!Glenn

  11. Hi everyone! The beta team and I have been very busy getting all the bugs out and making wxRE as ready as possible for the release. We're just about at the end of the beta cycle and we are starting to prepare for the release candidate and eventual release of ActiveSky wxRE!!! All features are now locked and you can view the final list of features that will be included with ActiveSky wxRE at http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/activeskywxre.htm.I'd like to thank the beta team for their participation. We have 75 beta testers who have all done a great job at helping in many ways. And thanks again to all the users and supporters of ActiveSky who have given us their valuable in…

Have not been able to get ActiveSky 1.5 to download weather tonight. I'm getting a "Download Error or Timeout" message in the FD Winds Aloft bar. Metar bar just shows "Downloading...". This is occuring just 2 to 3 seconds after starting ActiveSky. I have uninstalled and reinstalled ActiveSky, but this did not help. I have tried starting from different airports. This did not help either.

Hi all, very excited about the new version of Active Sky, looking foward to buy it, in the mean time, I have a couple of dummy's questions:1. How often are the Metar files updated (i.e., if the metar files are updated every, lets say 15 min, why shoould I have the refresh time lower in my ActiveSky?)2. Will the new version be compatible with FSFlightmax?3. Where can I get info on how to interpret and use the Winds aloft data for flight/flight planning?4. If I use the force option in the new version, could I place myself on hold until the weahter gets better while in approach? or Forcing the weahter at any given terminal means no updating?Well I came with more than a …

How does ActiveSky wxRE compare to FSMeteo? I like the wake turbulence but I regularly fly to aircraft carriers and FSMeteo has micro climates to align the wind to match ArrestorCables carriers. I'm trying to decide which program to purchase.

Hi, when I try to install ActiveSky 2002 v1.5 on Windoze Me, I get the following error:"An error occurred while registering the file 'C:WINDOWSSYSTEMMSINET.OCX'." The options are abort, retry, and ignore. All I can do to get past it is by pressing 'ignore', but then when I run ActiveSky I get the following message:"Run-time error '372': Failed to load control 'Inet' from MSINET.OCX. Your version of MSINET.OCX may be outdated. Make sure you are using the version of the control that was provided with your application."And all I can do is press OK and quit. Can someone help me please? I'm itching to try it!Thanks in advance for any help...

Hi,I'm really interested in purchasing this product, but I was wondering if it will be compatible with SquawkBox, since I'm almost only flying online on the IVAO network. As you know, SB also has a real weather feature, will there be a problem using both programs together? Thanks in advance,Ben

  23. Both wake turbulence and clear air turbulence interest me. I believe it was mentioned that this was going to be in Active Sky's new release. Will it be in the 1st release, and will it be "felt" if one has Force Feedback joystick? Stan

How do I download the NOAA wx so that the Activesky program will work? Nothing lights up under search (airports). I know how to download the wx from Jepp but this is the first time I have tried this new wx program. All that seems to be listed in the program right now is the below sscreenshot. I have downloaded the latest FSUIPC modual and placed it in the modual folder in FS2002. Also running Win XP Home so hope that has the Visual basic in it.Terry

Hi Damian,Looking forward to AS wxRE. Would it be possible to make AS dynamically load the correct (i.e. best matching) FSSW cloud textures given the actual conditions ? FSSW can randomly swap cloud types as you fly along, but I think AS can perform this function in a far more realistic way since AS knows what cloud textures (whispy, dense, light, dark etc etc) would best fit the weather conditions. Come to think of it, another way to achieve this is to have FSSW constantly read the current weather from FS (as set by for instance AS) and dynamically set the correct cloud type.Damian, maybe you should get in touch with Chris Willis to discuss this further... ;-)ciao,Jurjen…
