Hi,the FPS drops on my machine (Win XP / AMD 1800+ / GF3 / 1gb RAM) from (locked) 20 down to 3-5, if the METAR is updated. What could cause this? I've tried several flights in Europe and the US and got always similar effects.RegardsThomasPS: Similar effect with v1.5

I must say that I felt in love with the software since the begining. However, why is the program making the ATC to cancel AI's IFR at all times? The barometric pressure is changing all the time which in effect ATC tells AI that their altitude is too high or too low from the assigned altitude. It shouldn't do that. Plus there's a problem with changed wind direction by the airports, I was on final to KDFW and the wind direction changed and the ATC told me that I'm cleared to land on rwy 17L instead of 35L as it was originally? I've tried to change options in the FSUIPC but it didn't help. Also, why is the software downloading wind alofts when I unchecked it in the option menu…

For winds aloft, does this work in Europe and elsewhere? Saturday night I flew from KJFK to HECA. When I woke up over Athens, I saw some strange winds anything from SE at 40 knots to NW at 200. Average was from NW at 40 knots. I was on VATSIM at FL370.

Here is an interesting issue with ActiveSky - I created a flight in FS2002 to start at Oswego Cty airport in upstate New York (USA) since there was a snow storm moving through the area. This aiport's ICAO identifyer is KFZY. However, for many years up until a few years ago, it was N00.When FS2002 started by placing my aircraft at the runway of KFZY, I cleared the weather in FS2002, launched ActiveSky, then waited while ActiveSky found my location and downloaded and configured the weather (I have the "Online" option enabled).ActiveSky is finding that my location is near KN00 (note that this is similar to the older ICAO airport identifyer) and attempting to download weat…

I've been using wxRE for the last two days, and it's fantastic!! I use it with WidevieW, and it works exceptionally well, with only a few glitches (and they're minor compared to what I have dealt with for the last 8-10 months). You have really put together a wonderful package. I've been touting the software over on the BFU forum; I think the bush pilots are really going to get a kick out of this utility. Keep up the good work.

If I start RC3 immediately after WxRE, the RC3 ATIS or in flight weather never seems to state what is in the current WxRE metar. Even if the RC3 ATIS is allowed to play several minutes it never changes. Also, WxRE seems to stop updating.Has anyone using RC3 got any experience with this?

Hello to all,Firsly I want to congratulate Damian in his own forum for the release of ActiveSky, a truly remarkable job and well done. It is very rare that I post to the AVSIM forums, we are busy enough with our own. In fact I just had to recreate my account here because it had not been used for 3 months. I am making an exception this time specifically due to the support Damian has been providing for FSFlightMax users both here and in the general discussions forum. I have read many of his posts and he really is going above and beyond the call of duty.We are working very hard to get a new FSFlightMax out the door as soon as possible, specifically for ActiveSky support. Hi,I purchased your program and found it wonderful but have one problem. I flew KBNA to KORD. Takeoff and climb was normal once at cruise the upper wind speed was 335 at 58 it stayed that speed and direction until I closed out Flight Simulator. Even after continually refreshing Active Sky the speed and direction of wind would not change. In actuallity the wind speed at Chicago at the time according to Active sky was 039 at 09.Any help appreciated,Thanks in AdvanceSean

I was a bit skeptical at first, but the multi-level cloud formations, smooth transitions, even in visibility, really demonstrate the marked difference and improvement of real weather flying the AS WXRE can deliver. Here is a sreenshot of a California winter storm front rolling in on a short hop from KSMF to KSFO. Thanks Damian!GrantM

I'm very happy with ActiveSky wxRE, it's great. The only gripe that I have is that there is no winds aloft information for Europe and Asia. I hope this will be the next priority! Trans Atlantic/Pacific aloft winds would be great also!Thank,Erichttp://www.cpavirtual.org/images/flyingtigerbanner.jpghttp://www.cpavirtual.orghttp://www.flysva.orghttp://Thai.virtualATP.orghttp://JAL.virtualATP.orghttp://Malaysia.virtualATP.orghttp://Asiana.virtualATP.orghttp://Hawaiian.virtualATP.org

HiJust a couple of questions.I,m wondering what data is downloaded for use in offline mode.Does it cover the whole world as the MS default does?Using the same downloaded weather file will it produce different weather depending at which airfield in the world I start at.Will it produce accurate changes in weather as I fly as if I was online?.Can I name and save more than one Offline file then reload when needed?.Just looking to clarify what Offline mode will give as for me this is the mode I would use most. Many thanks for your help.cheersJohn

I am not trying to compare ActiveWx with FSMeteo but FSMEteo had the capability to downlaod weather several days in the past. How is this accomplished in ActiveWx. I did an approach into KSBY from KPHL and it was solid IFR allthe way. We broke out of the clods on the approach at about 275' with the vis just borderline of 1/2 mile. If I have missed reading this accomplishment in the manula, I apologize for bringing up old news.Kilo_Whiskeyhttp://www.flightsimnetwork.com/dcforum/Us...a9241b6b125.jpg

I did a flight yesterday from KSEA to KSFO and everything worked great with ActiveSky. Clouds looked really neat. Although I seemed to get a steady overcast most of the way, I hit a few spots where it trasitioned to a Broken layer. I did notice that I got the immediate overcast layer a couple times as I flew over this broken layer. There was not a gradual transition by any means. I have everything set in FSUIPC just as indicated in the manual. Is this something that is not supposed to happen or are there cases where you will still see this?? It's not a big issue but was just curious about it. Otherwise it seems to work great. I especially like the feature that decr…

Introducing ActiveSky wxRE...wxRE means Weather Realism Engine. This is the next-generation weather environment engine for flight simulation! Weather never looked so good, and never posed a challenge quite like this! Realistic modeling of dynamic changing weather according to real-world behavior is available in either LIVE Online or Offline/Preset operation mode. In LIVE mode, your weather environment will be a replica of existing real-world present-time conditions! In offline mode you can use downloaded CYCLE files or make your own weather settings. Either way, ActiveSky wxRE will dynamically change the weather according to live or preset forecast reports (TAFs)! New wea…

Like someone else in this forum, I can't find a way to purchase wxRE. I go to the wxRE page to be told (at the top) that it will be released soon and (at the bottom) that it is currently in BETA. Knowing that others have bought it, I ignore these and click 'Purchase' only to be told on the Product page that the product is not yet released. It also says 'Click here for the ActiveSky wxRE page and/or to purchase this product', so I do, only to go back to the wxRE page. There is no link to Emetrix, or any other method of purchase, so far as I can see (and yes, I have refreshed the pages).Any ideas?Boogie.

  23. Hi all,Here is a shot of the main ActiveSky wxRE program screen. http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxre-ssmain.jpgHere you will receive all pertinent weather information and be able to get or set custom weather. Note that in addition to METARs and winds aloft, TAFs are now shown and processed for dynamic weather changes as time progresses (newest METAR reports take precedence). While flying in the new OFFLINE mode, you can experience the full range of forecast weather according to any pre-downloaded or custom-made weather settings.(Note that this is still work in progress)......[table border=0" cellspacing="30" cellpadding="0][tr][td align = "left"]Damian ClarkHiF…

Since i bought this new weather program haven't been able to download a single METAR file for flying offline!!!I have a good 56K modem connection and never had such trouble in downloading METARS with other programs.I tried some workarounds suggested by author but without luck (i'm not a programmer).I have to say that the online feature works just fine.Come on, let's see if we can solve our trouble!cheersLuigi ;-)
