I have recently changed ISPs and am having difficulty running Activesky 1.5. - I get the parse error message no matter where I am and winds aloft download times out.Now this new ISP enforces the use of their proxy server so my suspicion is that Activesky has problems with proxy servers (FSMeteo seems to). Grateful if someone could provide assistance.Bruce WTB

(Sent as a separate post as I don't seem to be able to reply to posts or at least my replies are not visible to me)Thanks Damian. No problems with pulling down METARS as per your suggestion. In the meantime I have installed the freeware version of Weather Center. At first I couldn't get it to work either. Now this weather utility includes explicit proxy server support and once I used the facility to specify a proxy server and its port it worked. So I still suspect proxying is an issue with Activesky as it seems to be with FSMeteo (I have exchanged emails with Marc on this).RegardsBruce

I don't know the correct path...Flight max is in my MODULES folder of FS but there are 2 sub folders: data and wx. Which path should I use?. I'll make your job easy, just say 1,2 or 3 :) Or 4, which is none of the above. :-shy C:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesFs2002MODULESActiveSky wxREC:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesFs2002MODULESActiveSky wxREdataC:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesFs2002MODULESActiveSky wxREwx Thanks. Is that all I have to do? I've read both sections in both manuals. Ofcourse there is nothing specific about ACtiveSky in the FlightMax manual. It does say, in the ActiveSky manual, that FSMax must be configured to this directory as well. How do I do this?Having fun!!…

To all ActiveSky wxRE users:I downloaded the free version of ActiveSky (1.5), and love it. However, although most of my flying is in the US, i do sometimes fly elsewhere (europe and canada, for example). the free version doesn't support/download winds aloft for countries outside the US. I've looked at the feature list and specs for wxRE, and it looks like a great program, but I need to make sure it supports non-US Winds aloft first. If this features hasn't been implemented yet, is there any estimate as to when it will be included in the software? Thanks!===================Ben PetersWWA6605VATSIMKZLC Senior Student

First I really enjoy this program, just one quick question. From what I can gather Active Sky wxRE must have a five min period before weather is fully generated. During this time you must be in FS in flying mode(ie. not in the menu). Can someone confirm that weather not related to the metar will be visible prior to waiting five mins. Thanks,Wyatt

Hi, I purchased WXre and am having problems downloading cycle files in offline mode. The program works fine in online mode but I have dial up and don't want to tie up my phone with online. My UTC offset is set correctly (I think...) at -5 for east coast USA.When I attempt to download a new WX cycle file I get a 'error or timeout' message and can't go further. This is a great addon but I have to get it working in offline mode. Thanks for any help. I'm extremely interested in your excellent sounding product, but I've read the free manual and I'm still a bit in the dark. :)) I'm interested in winds aloft! Here's my two questions!1. What sort of timescale do you have on releasing a 'winds aloft' utility that works worldwide? (I do most of my flying in Europe!)and2. When you do release such a utility, what exactly will the flight planning capability be for it? Will I be able to sit at my departure gate and accurately plan my route according to wind data? (Is it possible to get some kind of graphical/map representation?) It would great if it would be accurate enough (although I know this depends on your data source…

I've got WxRE. The following dynamic weather was shown while flying:(Dynamic)-KAUG 142218Z 02016KT 2SM RA BR SCT005 OVC020 02/02 A2936Visibility seemed correct but I could still see the ground while flying at 4000 feet even though the dynamic metar showed overcast at 2000 feet. Please advise.

But now there is a line in the sky. I don't have v-sink checked, and I set up everything via the manual. Here is a picture of the problem. I forgot to mention that I loaded FSMeteo and there was a heavy cloud cover, which is the way it looks outside right now.

  18. Started by OHN,

I use shift-Z to see wind and direction but it says 000/00 but according to my wxre metar it should say 08010KT, if i go out of FS and refresh wxre it is ok, why is there only wind when i go out and refresh.thx OHNps clouds show up nicely but no wind, and everything is set as the manual says.

Thanks for the great weather program guys. One thing I noticed with activeskywxre and ai aircraft; today I started activesky then started fs2k2 then I went to kdtw to watch ai aircraft takeoff and land. Aircraft were approaching to land on 21R when atc wanted them to land on 3L, quite a few ai planes got confused and crashed or just landed on the wrong runway anyways. Next time I started active sky, started fs2k2 downloaded real weather through fs2k2 then went to Kdtw. Things were much improved, aircraft were landing on the correct runway. Seeems like the fs2k2 approach needed some wind guidence before activesky took over.Again thanks for the nice program.Matt

I was flying near Akron Ohio. The Metar was advising the ceiling was 600 ft. The ATIS in Akron was not correct on visibilty and cloud height. It was advising no cloud below 12000. Also the weather at Akron was wrong when i got to Akron. I have the proper setup in place. Please advise.David AlbrightFAA Flight dispatcherSingle and Mult-engine rated pilot500 hours Real PIC2000 hours Sim PICSim Test Pilot

Just a note, since I got caught once, and I've seen another post for a similar thing here. When loading AS after you have FS up and running, it will take several seconds to minutes for the weather to fully change to the new values. Don't think it isn't working because it is (unless you wait 5 minutes and nothing has happened that is). This is part of the smooth transition process (correct me if I'm wrong Damian/Guys), and believe me, it is GOOD! I hardly noticed the wx changing on me until I suddenly had zip for vis. Scared hell outta me :-). When you load, give it time :-).Glenn
