Hi, when planning flight, how do you calculate headwind/tailwind and speed. I am aware of the average speed direction through as6. But if one is flying say on a heading of 360 and wind is 100kts at 270, I usually half the speed i.e., headwind of 50kts, is this the correct method. How would you work out heading of 360, wind at 100kts from 290Jim

I want to install XGauge manually in a payware aircraft with as many as 19 popup windows. Do I have to sacrifice one of these popup windows to bind XGauge to a Shift+# key?

Guys, can you please remind how to save some FPS on the quality of cloouds in ASv6? I have it at MAX distance/density @100%3D. Is it going from 32 bits to DXT? I totally forgot it.Also, how to use FPS-saving clouds in ASX/AGX? Much thanks.Dirk.

This may seem like an odd question, but I really hate the color of the inland brown water. I am using XGraphics with Ultimate Terrain, and I never noticed the ugly brown color of the rivers and there are many areas that it just doesn't work well for the area. It just looks out of place. Is there anyway to have a blue option for the inland brown rivers? All the choices are terrible looking in my opinion. And I think that Ultimate Terrain has updated the landclasses to be more inland brown than I care for, so I tend to see if more than I ever noticed before. Thanks,Chad

Got a small problem. I had a 4-monitor setup in WinXP. 3 monitors were running as my "primary display" in XP using the Matrox TH2G. The 4th monitor was my "secondary display" under XP. I had Active Sky v.6 (FS9) defaulting to load on my 4th monitor on start-up.One of my TH2G monitors quite working (backlight went out) and I had to RMA it for repairs. So in the meantime I reconfigured my 3 remaining monitors. Problem now is when I start Active Sky, the initial "loading" screen will show up, but then it "jumps" off my monitor and disappears altogether. It is still running in the Taskbar, but there is no way to see the user-interaction screen for it anymore.XP "sometim…

Hi Guys, after installing the Aerosoft Twin Otter, and setting it up with the XGauge, whenever I select the gauge within the aircraft the gauge does not 'show itself', and the cursor continuously begins to blink (with the hourglass flashing). the only way to get rid of the issue is to switch aircraft.I checked my other aircraft and they are fine.I removed the XGauge from the Twotter panel.cfg (two (2) of them by restored the original), the ran the configutor again, but got the same results. Any ideas?

Jim or Damian,I have a thought that I hope you'll consider as we work through the wind-smoothing betas. Becuase ASX uses simconnect and does not set or influance FSUIPC settings directly anymore (my understanding), how are the users who have registered weather options in FSUIPC going to know what the best settings are in FSUIPC (assuming ASXsp3 doesn't do it automatically)? Also, is ASXsp3 being beta testing with these latest betas from Pete? Obviously I don't know what communication has been in the background, but I hope we don't wind up with two patches (one for ASX and one for FSUIPC) that in the end, don't integrate well with each other for many of us users who have …

Hi, I just reinstalled WinXP SP2 on my computer. Before the reinstall I had Xpax working great. However, every time I start it after the reinstall, I get a runtime error with a log-file I have pasted below. I get similar errors both with the hotfix, and with the beta sp1. Any ideas? In addition to occuring every time I start, it also happens every time i click on the aircraft button in xpax. I'm running Xpax on a second computer via SimConnect to FSX SP2.See the end of this message for details on invoking just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.************** Exception Text **************System.ArgumentOutOfRangeException: InvalidArgument=Value of '3' …

Hi Jim and the team.Having been an Activesky user since 2004, I continue to be amazed by what Activesky does to my virtual skies, so although I've said it before, a continued thanks for the product, and the support.I completed a reinstall of Windows about 10 days ago, and have almost got my reinstall of FS2004 back up to speed. Fortunately I have most of my payware installers saved to CD, so there was no problem reinstalling AS, but it is version 6. There was also a service pack saved with the installer, so I duly installed that also. My AS window states that it is build 523. I wondered if you could tell me how I can go about downloading the necassary file or setup to…

Hi guys,It was mentioned on another forum that when using AS 6.5 with Ground Environment Pro and Real Environment Pro, I had to be careful what order I ran the applications in.Can anyone elaborate on that for me please? I am a bit confused as to the best way to go about it.I want to use Real Environment Pro for tarmac, concrete, and water textures, Ground Environment Pro for landclass upgrades (I am also using Ultimate Terrain), and ASG for all the "weather" related textures - including skies.Where do I start? Any pointers would be really helpful. Thanks very much,Martin Hughes

I don't know how widely known this utility is; but Pete Dowson's WeatherSet2 seems quite useful for analyzing Clouds, Wind, Baro, & Temps live, while in-flight. Pete asked us to use it while we help check some of his recent FSUIPC betas. Seems to also work fine on a WideFS/Wide-client PC as well. You can download the most recent version of WeatherSet2 from Pete's Forum Sticky:FSX DOWNLOADS and UPDATES (UpdateDate) near the top of his forum:http://forums.simflight.com/viewtopic.php?f=54&t=55488Scroll down the this lengthy thread and look for the bold heading:TrafficLook and WeatherSet/WeatherSet2 utilitiesDirect WeatherSet2 download URL:http://fsuipc.simflight.com…

This is borderline ASv6/ Windows XP question, but maybe you'll know what to do Jim?I have two monitors (dual display): when I open AS6 the start-up ("loading") window appears in the middle of the main screen, but when the main interface appears after a few seconds, it straddles the two screens. I can drag it into place on either monitor, but it's a bit annoying to do this every time. I've tried all the usual options that I'd use if it were a MS Explorer window to fix this, but the AS6 window always wants to open split across the two monitors.Never used to do this before I installed FS9/AS6 on a new PC. Any ideas? Thanks!Martin

Hey guys, question. I am looking at buying Xpax and I was wondering if your able to save and resume for long flights with passenger states as you left them when resuming/loading a flight. Due to time constraints, I'm never really able to do a long flight in one sitting. Can it be done?

I have found out for airports like VNKT, OIFM, OIBK, which are quite small and without heavy traffic, the current METAR loaded on ActiveSky 6.5 seems to be "frozen" at around 06:00 - 11:00Z, while both NOAA and VATSIM provide newer/ latest METARS. This problem only arises when flying to such small airports, while for larger with much more traffic, AS6.5 works ideally! This is quite annoying when flying at night for example and the "current" weather seems to be the one from the morning! I tried to check "VATSIM updates" under AS6.5 setup, but without any luck!Any solutions?Thanx.

Just wondering how to start ASX/XGraphics with FSX, I've got two basic questions,1. Should I open ASX first (Before opening FSX)and load/import my flight plan within ASX. Afterwards a prompt window appears to load XGraphics. I load XGraphics and then from the ASX window, hit the button on the left "Launch FSX". Or should I first open FSX, select my plane and flight and then open ASX/XGraphics? 2. There's three options in the ASX window (top-right menu), a. sends ASX to the system tray, b. minimizes ASX, c. click to quit ASX. If I'm opening and running ASX, do I use option a. or option b. ? What is the difference or consequence between a. or b. ?

Hey JimPleased to see the Xpax u/d beta out, I've been really looking forward to this. Last evening, however, my FS system went up in smoke - and I mean for real !! Looks like, after my last critical assessment of this prog, your voodoo worked . I promise never to say an unkind word ever again - can you take the pins out now please.Bud
