The AVSIM Screen Shots Forum
Have a favorite screen shot of your simulator that you would like to share? You can by posting it here. Please follow image posting rules (below). Images must be hosted on an image hosting website. Please use prefixes to identify the simulator you are using (see pinned topic for guidance). Please include information about the screenshot(s) such as location (flight plan?), the aircraft, weather engine, scenery (i.e., Orbx/FTX, GEX, FSDT, FlightBeam, FlyTampa, etc.).
Screenshot Image Posting Rules
- Images must be hosted on your own image server site, such as Drop Box, Google Drive, Photobucket.com, OZx Image Hosting, or a website that you own. See guidance at following link - http://www.avsim.com/topic/479802-how-do-i-post-a-screenshot/
- Images can be of any size; however, be considerate of your fellow AVSIM members as large photos will take longer to load for some members who do not have fast Internet connections.
- Images will automatically be resized to fit the viewer's screen width. This process is done automatically by the AVSIM website program.
- No more than 20 images per thread (topic). Moderators will remove any image that exceed this requirement.
- AVSIM members are reminded of the AVSIM Terms of Service in respect to images, and copyrighted and intellectual property. Images that violate our policies regarding copyrights and family safe environment will be removed and, depending on the severity of violation, user suspended or banned from AVSIM.
- Images copyrighted on other websites such as Airliners.net are not allowed and will be removed immediately.

On August 6th I will do my first long real-world flight, after 17 hours of traffic pattern training and short flights near the home airport. In a C42C, my flight instructor and myself will fly from Magdeburg to Rostock, i.e. from the center of Germany to the north, near the Baltic Sea, and back again. Overall, we'll be in the air for about 3 to 4 hours (depending on ground speed) and cover a total distance of about 240 nm (or 430 km, which sounds even more). Hopefully outside temperatures will be a bit lower than last week where we had about 38 °C (100 °F). Still, all the nice green you'll see on the screenshots below is not the real state currently. Instead, everyth…

Could not resist the tip from Bargain Hunter's Shack to get the AS-CRJ at 30% discount. I had been, on/off, following (and frankly a bit weary) about the initial user-comments. Also, I was not sure if my moderate (FSX:SE) system is up to it. I am aware this aircraft has been now fairly well-represented/tested in this forum (will examine those posts later). This is my very first purchase from RealFlightShop. But, I just wished to report that everything has gone smoothly, so far. At least, no issues with installation or cockpit appearance/instrumentation (I am barely turning on the lights now, though!). Cold & Dark with this will take (long-term) dedicated time, for sur…

Enjoying Xplane11's beautiful rendering of the Cascades, California's Central Valley, and the Sierras. I love the realistic looking atmosphere, the way the haze blends into the horizon as in real life flight, and the way it obscures the ground in flight. I love the well placed landclass and autogen, which I think is the best that can be offered in the sim world and amazingly realistic at all altitudes. I enjoyed a wonderful, two hour, real time flight in the Eclipse watching the landscape roll smoothly by underneath and the clouds flowing smoothly by above and below.... John

Below are a few shots for a dusk time flight (8000' max altitude) from NZMC to the majestic Mt Cook (NZ:SI/Orbx). NZ:SI has numerous small and pretty lakes tucked in between these mountains - suitable for Lake TD (sometimes can be challenging to get in there). In this flight, I selected a nearby lake (at altitude 3100') for touching down with the C185 Skywagon (Amphibian). After landing (and with engines off), I could imagine the serenity that only such secluded lakes can provide in reality... Mt Cook (at 12000') is where Sir Edmund Hillary sharpened his skills to later climb Mount Everest (at 29000'). Need to still locate Mount Everest in my AS Lukla add-on... …

here are 8 shots of my 'sunset 1' that I shared here in the screenshots section. Its a 96 mile visibility with no clouds. I took off from KPTK at 6pm March 22 and flew towards KDET and on into Canada and then across and back to KDTW. The sun looks a little odd without its halo at first but when the sunset textures start coming in, I think it looks great. ymmv. having no clouds is important. clouds make the bottom parts of the sky much heavier and darker somehow.

You probably have seen many times shots of Lukla, often cited as the most dangerous airport in the world. I had AS Lukla for a while, but never really got to try it, spent 15 minutes today taking off from Lukla RWY24 and touching down at a nearby airstrip. The sloping Lukla RWY caused my Twin Otter to start rolling down the moment the brake was off (well-modelled since the FSX default Lukla is unflyable). I survived the 1st takeoff...cannot imagine how these Nepalese pilots do it for real on a daily basis! Please excuse my Nature Air livery in which I fly my AS Twin Otter a lot (need to get a regional airline-livery for Lukla here).

I was looking today to QW to re-install and fly a couple of their aircraft. I picked first their 757 (it's entertainment grade, IMHO, but a good simulation). My interest for this first pick is driven by two considerations: 1. On a lighter note and personal level: I have flown several times in the 757 (as passenger, of course). And, on one occasion, while in Miami, I got upgraded to 1st class, and while boarding the aircraft, the Captain of the plane also happened to walk along with me at the same time in the jetway. He said a couple of friendly words. While he turned towards the flight-deck, I said to him, "Have a good flight" before I realized it was probably a bit …

Please refer to my other thread 'sunset 1 for XP11.25 that anyone can use for instructions. This one is a heavier yellow orange that ends in an almost too saturated red but it has to be that way for mixing purposes and I think it looks great as the light fades.

I've been working on a new sky and sunset that anyone with XP11 can use. Heres four pics: My sunset approach does away with all those annoying lines at the post sunset. It replaces them with much less offensive lines :-)

Here are a few shots flying the (FR) Super Cub - slowly along the River Thames (taking off from London City Airport towards Heathrow for a short segment). The river is full of so many twists and turns around here! The scenery is Orbx England where the the major airports and urban areas are said to have got an upgrade. Some of the London landmarks (Millennium Dome, Tower Bridge, Tower of London, London Eye, and Big Ben etc.) are identifiable.
