The AVSIM Screen Shots Forum
Have a favorite screen shot of your simulator that you would like to share? You can by posting it here. Please follow image posting rules (below). Images must be hosted on an image hosting website. Please use prefixes to identify the simulator you are using (see pinned topic for guidance). Please include information about the screenshot(s) such as location (flight plan?), the aircraft, weather engine, scenery (i.e., Orbx/FTX, GEX, FSDT, FlightBeam, FlyTampa, etc.).
Screenshot Image Posting Rules
- Images must be hosted on your own image server site, such as Drop Box, Google Drive, Photobucket.com, OZx Image Hosting, or a website that you own. See guidance at following link - http://www.avsim.com/topic/479802-how-do-i-post-a-screenshot/
- Images can be of any size; however, be considerate of your fellow AVSIM members as large photos will take longer to load for some members who do not have fast Internet connections.
- Images will automatically be resized to fit the viewer's screen width. This process is done automatically by the AVSIM website program.
- No more than 20 images per thread (topic). Moderators will remove any image that exceed this requirement.
- AVSIM members are reminded of the AVSIM Terms of Service in respect to images, and copyrighted and intellectual property. Images that violate our policies regarding copyrights and family safe environment will be removed and, depending on the severity of violation, user suspended or banned from AVSIM.
- Images copyrighted on other websites such as Airliners.net are not allowed and will be removed immediately.

So I flew from Zurich to Innsbruck and was able to unload my cargo at one of the main gates. As I was grabbing a bite to eat I saw this spotter with a huge camera snapping away like crazy on my DC-6. He said this was a very rare bird at LOWI, and he was fascinated by it and especially the big radial engines. He showed me the pic he snapped thru the LCD screen on his camera....I was impressed: He said "Man I wish I could get closer to it and get some interesting angles of those engines!" I said "Let me see what I can do", hehe.I got him admitted to the ramp with me as an escort, and he went nuts on the pics. He said "I wish I could get up in the car…

A flight I made many times over my Alaskan years. From 'Ophir' (an old gold mining spot on the Innoko river, now part of the 'Iditarod Trail') to McGrath (where I worked for the FAA) - learned to fly there back in the low sixties. The Ophir strip is 1940ft long - handles an oil tanker C46 and is about 38 west of McGrath. Mt Takotna, about half way - used to host 'Tatalina AFS', a GCI site. The radar's still turning. McGrath - on the Kuskokwim river where the Takotna river joins. Alaska Air flew 727's in here before VASI and Wien flew 737's. Now it's regional turboprops.

I thought I need a break from cold Alaska, so I ventured further west and found myself back in South East Asia. We are at the southern tip of Palawan and plan to fly to El Nido, home to some of the most beautiful travel destinations in Asia. Rio Tuba is one of many small airports all over the Philippines that serve the local population. The data availability for the Philippines must be pretty good, because the scenery I fly above looks superb. I fly with live weather. I have now reached the El Nido area, the island in front of the plane is Pangulasian and it really is spot on (except for the bu…

I'm leaving Bismarck ND for Fargo. KFAR is calling for light rain but lower clouds. I initially depart sunny BIS and cruise at 7500 ft. I'm getting over 3 miles a minute and sipping 100LL. Eventually I decide to descend to 3500 VFR below the clouds. As I approach Fargo I pickup an IFR clearance with Minneapolis Center, they "ship" me to Fargo approach control, and I shoot the RNAV RY 9 to just above minimums. This is the freeware RV7 (the author is working on a RV7A) - perf numbers are a little better but on the fast side (fine with me hehe). He does appear to constantly update the plane. There's also a paintkit and Blender file. Every freeware has a few nigg…

This post is triggered by an earlier reference to Riggins, Idaho. In this post, I lift off, in my C185 Float, from Payette Lake, situated 110 miles north of Boise and about 40 miles south of the town of Riggins. Riggins is, indeed, the premier whitewater rafting destination in the state of Idaho. Situated between the Main and Lower sections of the Salmon River, Riggins is the perfect launching base for the Salmon River’s rafting ventures... The spectacular Seven Devils mountains (see images) dominate the vicinity of Riggins. As can be seen, from the pictures, the Seven Devils comprise a series of closely spaced mountains, with the tallest two, appropriately, named "…

[OK, I suppose, I got your attention ...🙂..., but I wish to (hopefully) justify the Title of my post, here...via the images, below...] Mountains, small or big, always fascinate me immensely.... the mountains can be considered the embodiments of remarkable geography, history, myth, spirituality, and other such unique qualities. I will always remember, from decades ago, during my sole visit to Kathmandu, glimpses of the incomparable Himalayan Mountain range. While standing on a vantage spot in a street corner, a local resident had pointed out to me the chain of peaks, indicating one of them to be the Mount Everest. Frankly, in the inter-connecting series of (overlappin…

This particular aircraft, PP-VOI (SN 24752), is a GE CF6-80C2B6 powered variant and was delivered new from Boeing to Varig (Viação Aérea Rio-Grandense) Airlines on December 12, 1989. The relatively new ETOPS-120 certification was first awarded for TWA's B762's in May 1985 with ETOPS-180 certification for GE equipped B767's approved in 1989 through the demonstrated reliability and the continued confidence from the design of this long haul, wide bodied, twin engined aircraft. PP-VOI was the first of sixteen B767-300's delivered that, along with the new fleet of MD11's, were intended to support Varig's long haul network and replace the aging, expensive, and limited…
