The AVSIM Screen Shots Forum
Have a favorite screen shot of your simulator that you would like to share? You can by posting it here. Please follow image posting rules (below). Images must be hosted on an image hosting website. Please use prefixes to identify the simulator you are using (see pinned topic for guidance). Please include information about the screenshot(s) such as location (flight plan?), the aircraft, weather engine, scenery (i.e., Orbx/FTX, GEX, FSDT, FlightBeam, FlyTampa, etc.).
Screenshot Image Posting Rules
- Images must be hosted on your own image server site, such as Drop Box, Google Drive, Photobucket.com, OZx Image Hosting, or a website that you own. See guidance at following link - http://www.avsim.com/topic/479802-how-do-i-post-a-screenshot/
- Images can be of any size; however, be considerate of your fellow AVSIM members as large photos will take longer to load for some members who do not have fast Internet connections.
- Images will automatically be resized to fit the viewer's screen width. This process is done automatically by the AVSIM website program.
- No more than 20 images per thread (topic). Moderators will remove any image that exceed this requirement.
- AVSIM members are reminded of the AVSIM Terms of Service in respect to images, and copyrighted and intellectual property. Images that violate our policies regarding copyrights and family safe environment will be removed and, depending on the severity of violation, user suspended or banned from AVSIM.
- Images copyrighted on other websites such as Airliners.net are not allowed and will be removed immediately.

My flight today departs from Moscow Sheremetjewo and brings us to St. Petersburg. The plane is the venerable Tupolev Tu 160 Blackjack, published by AlphaSim for FS2004. This is what Wikipedia has to say about The Tu 160: The Tupolev Tu-160 (NATO reporting name: Blackjack) is a supersonic, variable-sweep wing heavy strategic bomber designed by the Tupolev Design Bureau in the Soviet Union in the 1970s. It is the largest and heaviest Mach 2+ supersonic military aircraft ever built and is next to the experimental XB-70 Valkyrie in overall length. As of 2021, it is the largest and heaviest combat aircraft, the fastest bomber in use, and the largest and heaviest vari…

DHL International A9C-DHZ This particular B767-300ER was delivered new to American Airlines on February 14, 2003. She wore two liveries for AAL (N343AN) over the next 17 years; the original metal livery and later the custom One World Livery. She completed her last passenger revenue flight on March 18, 2020. Following her retirement from passenger service, she was stored for a short time at Roswell prior to being purchased for an (ER)BCF conversion. She was flown to Singapore (QPG) where she underwent the BCF conversion, subsequently entering service with DHL International in September 2021. Currently, this airframe is now Bahrain based with primary re…

ORBX Alaska mesh This nicely polished PMDG DC-6B wears the markings of her Northern cousin, the last Canadair C-5 North Star "CHARLIE FIVE". C5 was the only pressurized aircraft in the Canadair fleet of North Stars of the DC-4M/Argonaut/C-54GM/C-4 variants. It was also the last produced, and only C-5 variant of the North Star fitted with PW R-2800 Double Wasp radial engines. To the members of 412 Squadron, the aircraft was known as “Charlie Five”. During much of its fifteen-year career with 412 Squadron, based at RCAF Station Uplands Ontario, this reliable queen of the executive aircraft fleet carried delegates for VIP Transport Services. Most of the political leader…

Next in my series of "How cool is PBR?" 😁, here you see another PBR metallic effect, this time on Virgin Australia's text. These are 3 shots in the same position, but 3 different times of day. Look how the appearance of the text changes (and the lady in the front) as the sun changes position. Looks so cool in the sim. While this livery is relatively "easy", with anything metal on the plane, you're painting on 1 albedo (normal) texture map, and a metallic map's 3 of 4 channels. One thing you learn (unless you like duplicating work a lot), is to have the base texture to its final version before working on the PBR effects, or you're doing the work on 4 diff…

LTU-Sud (Lufttransport Süd) was a low cost subsidiary of LTU (originally started as LTS in 1983 with a small fleet of B757 aircraft). The airline was based out of Munich and operated independent of the parent company LTU (with lower cost flight crews and differentiated labour agreements). Following the new ETOPS-180 ruling, LTU-Sud was quick to adopt the B767 into their fleet. At their peak, LTU-Sud operated thirteen B757-200's and six B767-300ER's taking advantage of the cockpit commonality for their flight crews. This particular airframe (D-AMUP) joined the LTU-Sud fleet new from Boeing on March 30, 1992. She flew with LTU-Sud for the next 5 years un…
