Why do the standard trees in FU3 have chinooks (crosses) above them? On the weekend, someone asked me how I got rid of it in my trees because FU3 trees and Rob's tree still have them. I said I didn't know. I went and looked. Sure enough, every FU3 tree has them, mine don't.Beats me. I did make sure that there was a continuous strip of transparency at the top of each image but some of the FU3 trees 'stop' way below the 'chinook' so I don't think that's it. Just thought I'd ask. I also noted that the bus (and some cars) have 'ground effect' lines along each side but my Ducati 996 doesn't!Maybe they were just in too much of a hurry...Jon Point*************************(effyou…

I have more or less finished modelling this. I know that London is not easily available yet, but is there any interest in me putting the models in the AVSIM library, or will I hold them just for the UK packages? I want you to admire them of course, but they don't quite blend in with my little home in the hills at Sky Harbour and are really only intended for UK. Although I think the Dome is in the UK scenery on AVSIM - is this true?I haven't forgotten your requests for taxiways/roads etc Jon and John, and I've actually made them but keep forgetting to bring them in. Anyway, its better to post several models at once! And I have version 3 of FIXMIP - this creates the MIP file…

    1. The kids, especially the grandchildren, snicker behind your back and wink at each other if they see you sit there with the joystick in hand, between this and last Christmas.2. You deleted 1000 old aircraft files and gained only 5 megs of disk space.3. You deleted the last 10 downloaded aircraft and gained 500 megs of disk space.4. You actually spend more enjoyable hours working in the garden regardless the weather than at the computer staring at simulated gauges getting you nowhere.5. You feel good to do that rather than to fabricate yet another back ailment excuse (headaches were not a good excuse)6. One minute of time spend with a loved one is worth more than an hour…

The two packages Grays AAF and McChord AAF both have large numbers of objects, and feedback suggests they cause framerate issues. A couple of points may help generate discussion, maybe leading to ways to improve framerates. I think framerates are affected most by number of polygons, rather than the rendering of the polygon itself, especially since the MIP format uses scaled versions of graphics for different distances.Since I handwrite the objects (rather than use a graphics rendering package), I use the minimum possible number of polygons. (Well not the minimum - my tree uses 6 polygons, Jon uses just two - he's more economical. And they look better too. Rats). However a…

Yesterday I uploaded a new version of FIXMIP but didn't have timeto post to AVSIM. This upload is a mixed bag of stuff for roads (two cars and a sign) and a new version of FIXMIP.This version has been tested on my home computer for about a week without problems, but please let me know if there are any! ;)New features: Replaces MAKEMIP - now you can generate MIP files without DOS. New method of creating distant textures - sharper, truer colours Greater control over colour biasing Option not to repalettise but simply create MIP Greater control over transparency - other colours can be set to transparency and degree of transparency can be controlled. I have dropped…

Sorry about the last one! My monitor is very bright and is calibrated to it's environment. Obviously, most PC screens cannot give that level of brightness and contrast and rely on less dynamic range in the image being displayed. My apologies. Here goes again:A (small) adventure. Went looking for some screen shots last night. Planned to take some old folks down the city to seethe gardens in Fall. 6AM. Running late (as usual) ;) Crap! There's the bus full of old folks - and Mike, speeding away with thumbs up! Must be sneakin' back to that new girl of his. I finally got my HD upgraded to a huge 80GB, but I've run into some problems with getting FLU III back up to date. I tried to install the Seattle and San Francisco 2002 files, which include almost all of the scenery packages I need, but my computer keeps crashing. I first tried to install everything at once, but when I tried to go to the map and select an airport the game kicked me back to the desktop. Luckily I backed everything up before proceeding. Next I tried to install each package a few at a time and then run FLUIII to see if it would work, but at 38 it crashed. I know there was some talk of a maximum number of airport icons, but these patches apparently work for o…

I know that this topic has been raised before, but still -- why don't the FU3 aircraft respond to altitude and leaning of the mixture? We've got beautiful red levers but all they do is to kill the engines if you go full lean. All of our aircraft will be quite happy flying at 10,000 ft on "full rich". For those of you who may not understand what this is all about -- if you fail to lean a piston engine at high altitudes it will stop. There's a correct fuel / air ratio that has to be observed and when the air gets "thinner" this must be compensated by lowering the fuel fraction to match the air (oxygen) fraction. To keep the fuel / air ratio right you'd want to lean the engin…

Hi Guys, I recently bought a Logitec Wingman 3D FF stick (USB). All controls seem to be working OK (4 axis). I was however a little disappointed with the various FF effects. The only dynamic forces seem to be the wheels touch-down and crashes. What I'm missing: - The centering forces seem to stay equal regardless the airspeed. - Trim does not move the center point of the joystick. - Stall does not produce any buffeting- No weather (side-wind, ect) effectsWas I expecting too much or is my stick software not interfacing optimal? Has DirectX anything to do with it? Are there optimal settings for the various FF adjustment bars? I appreciate your comments. For those interes…

I have modified the region.cfg file so the airport icons are more or less in the right place now. THIS IS ONLY VALID FOR THE NEW UK-SOUTH REGION, as the old London region was already quite good. I don't know how many of you have this new region, but here are the new coordinates, if you need them:; These are the mappings from world; to pixel coords for region map and vice versareg_map_col1 0.0045 0.00005 0reg_map_col2 0.00003 -0.00450 0reg_map_col3 -1200.0 2380.0 1I have also done 2 new tiles, see the attached map.Cristian

I have posted some new uploads:1) a comprehensive set of scenery models for Seattle. No point in doin g a set for San Fran as the Seattle models haven't been converted to San Fran textures yet. When I do that I will upload my complete set in the same way. By comprehensive, I mean it includes all add-on models, including Captain Bazza, Tomi Lehto etc. But if I have missed any or got some of them wrong, please let me know. I have posted this set of models in response to comments in AVSIM about not having a complete set available, and asking if models could be included in packages distribution ZIPs. Since this would increase the size of packages by a factor of up to 20, I th…
