Dear Simmers,After a prolonged leave of absence, I am back into FU3. The trouble is compartmentalizing life enough to have time for the sim as well as everything else. I have the blessing / curse of working at home, in my bedroom, with my FU3 PC also being used for some of my work.FU3 survived a massive hard disk purge. Good riddance FS2K2 and Medal of Honor Allied Assault - these nice offerings are time hogs, whereas FU3 is easy to get into and out of.I am happy to see that FU3 is still being supported, however devilish scenery is to install.Have a good flight, people.Lior Bar-On

I nearly pulled it off. I even touched down on the runway. Unfortunately it wasn't a centreline touchdown, the left wing hit a taxiway sign and, well............you can see for yourselves what happened in the screenshot.I aborted the landing three times before this happened, basically because I couldn't see where the runway was until it was too late ! I was aligned perfectly on my 4th attempt, but the high approach speed compared to my trusty Baron made me "twitchy".Never mind, we can't all be perfect :-lolChris Low,ENGLAND.PS. Hey All :-)I've been hiding for the last couple of weeks but I'm (almost) back. I have decided to release another load of models which include: dirt taxiways, fences, a Ducati 996, runway lighting (to free you from the jaws of FLED) and a few other things. Oh, there's an OT package with 2 airports (fictional) which I use to test everything out with. I have just completed my first ever take off, circuit, and (rough) landing in the Beechjet. This was at Crissy Army Airfield, so you can probably understand why it was tricky (the final approach to runway 6 brought me very low over the roof tops of a posh looking estate). Anyway, I just wanted to say that I approached this little flight with some trepidation. As you probably know by now, I don't exactly follow the instruction book to the letter when it comes to flying, so I wasn't sure how well the Beechjet would "handle". I don't currently have the FU3 Challenges installed, but I would be interested to receive any information about these from other FU3 users. How many are there ? Are any of them interesting ? An FU3 user has recently e-mailed me regarding a problem with my Scotts Valley package. He was sitting in his virtual aircraft at Sacramento Executive, and he decided to use the radio to select an IFR destination. This was intended to be San Francisco International, but he noticed that the three options only covered A-R. After extensive amounts of testing, he realised that removing the Scotts Valley package resulted in there being a total of FIVE options here, which covered all of the available destinations.More testing has indicated that the UNICOM aspect of Scotts Valley appears to be to blame. Hi pilots! My brother(flight engineer USAF SAC korean era ) and I just toured the museum at Dayton ,Ohio .What a thrill! I saw the wright bros aircraft up close . what a piece of work. It's larger than a 172 . I couldn't believe some of the early aircraft how large they were .Had a F115 stealth ,F22 , SR71,too many to name . Will go down again (about 3 hrs from me) and get some digital pix to show . Spent all day there and still didn't get it all. I'm glad that we can go and see the whole aviation history preserved in places like this.I will be more active come winter . Actually, I had fu3 two years ago, but it was off my hard disk until now.So, a few issues which I need to be refreshed about.1. A hotkey to show taxiing path from parking position to RWY threshold?2. Flying without flightplan from KSLC to KSFO. Approaching SFO, how do I access ATC and ILS frequencies during flight?3. In the Beechjet and other ac, I type in a com or nav frequency, but a few moments later, it reverts to the default frequency. 4. Is there any tutorial on how to install planes and sceneries in fu3, or is it simple and exlained in the readme file of the download?Your help please.Eytan

I noticed a strange thing about UK... See the attached screenshots... they are at the same scale, one from Seattle, the other from London City. It seems that for lower res levels, the Seattle and Sanfran sceneries are much much clearer, even though in-flight, the near scenery for UK is much much clearer than the original sceneries. Why? Maybe this is due to how the lower levels are created... Some technical info? How does GenQuadrant create the lower levels? For each step, does it just take one out of 4 pixels, or does it calculate a mean? This would seem the most correct thing to do... An effect of this is that this scenery isn't very nice in the distance with FSAA off. …
