Yes folks, after a major breakthrough (getting over my stupidity), the GeeBee will be gracing the FU3 skies very soon. Sorry for the delays but things have been a bit hectic. Still a few little details to sort out but here's a peek of things to come :-beerchughttp://ftp.avsim.com/dcforum/User_files/3dd977006ddac156.jpghttp://ftp.avsim.com/dcforum/User_files/3dd978cc73fd8cf5.jpghttp://ftp.avsim.com/dcforum/User_files/3dd97903749493bd.jpghttp://ftp.avsim.com/dcforum/User_files/3dd9792b750d0faf.jpghttp://ftp.avsim.com/dcforum/User_files/3dd979577570b339.jpghttp://ftp.avsim.com/dcforum/User_files/3dd9798075f49022.jpghttp://ftp.avsim.com/dcforum/User_files/3dd979e57707220f.jpg…

  4. Unfortunately, it appears that I will miss the chat this coming Saturday. My cousin is singing in a local restaurant/drinking establishment, and myself and quite a few of my relatives will be there to watch (and in my case, film) her.By the way, she's 18......and a damn good singer.Chris Low,ENGLAND.

I found some of the technical talks at AVSIM on aircraft helpful, and thought I should try and contribute something back on weather. Possibly this post could start a thread on the topic. I'm not especially expert, but am trying to see FU3 reach the highest standards possible. So I thought I'd start the ball rolling by talking about clear air! This is meant to be practical and useful - not just academic!I have put here some notes on theory, then how this is implemented in FU3, then finally how you could change the settings to your own taste. So here goes.We fly in the troposphere, a word meaning "turning sphere", referring to large scale vertical mixing due to its unstable…

I have just completed a flight from Harvey Field to Swanson in the Beechjet. I made a slight modification to the taxiway that connects to runway 32 at Harvey Field, since this was an EXTREMELY tight turn for the Beechjet (it still is, but I can't be bothered to do it again) :-) Anyway, the flight was uneventful, apart from identifying the wrong plane during a traffic advisory response (I realised my error when the correct AI plane became visible after it had passed above me at a reasonably close range). When I arrived at Swanson, a couple of AI Cessna planes p****d me off by getting in the way of my first two landing approaches :-) When I finally did make a successful lan…

I thought that you all might like to see some screenshots of FU2 running on a Pentium 100 with 16Mb RAM and a 1Mb Diamond Stealth S3 graphics card :-) These are shots of various AI planes with software driven terrain graphics in the background. The screen resolution and framerates can be seen at top left, and everything was running at MAXIMUM detail. As you can see, it even managed a whopping 6 frames per second at one point :-lolChris Low,ENGLAND.

After messing around with RivaTuner, it appears that anisotropic filtering may be working in FU3 after all. I decided to switch off the aniso in RivaTuner, and then check to see if this had made a difference in FU3. I discovered that aniso does indeed reduce the amount of texture shimmering, although I am still not convinced that it makes distant textures look any sharper. In fact, I know it doesn't.So, it seems that a combination of anisotropic filtering and 4xS anti-aliasing produces the best visuals on my GeForce 3 Ti 200 powered system.Chris Low,ENGLAND.

Guys,I got FU3 installed on my 3rd try. The install kept getting confused. It also kept telling me I don't have enough disk space... wrong! I have it set up with 6X-FSAA and 16X Anistropic filtering. I turned everying to max... wow that turbulence will get you if you aren't careful! :-eek It looks really great... no panel line with the ATI... I find that on this video card the Seattle pallet looks better than the SF one... but SF is still quite good. With heavy weather over downtown Seattle I'm getting 21-63 fps... but the counter is dancing so fast I can only read it on screen shots. Never a hint of slowdown. I frankly don't believe that my frams are really anywhere near…

Hi everyone,I uninstalled FS2002, reinstalled FU3 today. Thought it was about time to fly with my first love again. :D Anyway, it's been a while, and I'm sure I have missed many wonderful addons during my absence. I'd be glad if anyone could point me to the most important addons etc that have been introduced lately.I'm on my way to the File Library now, and I'll have to see if I can configure my yoke+pedals to work with FU3 again, and tweak some config files. There's so much to do.Well, see you later,Hawk:-wave

I bought a asus A7V333 mobo and then bought a AMD 2000 MP-XP duel processor . WRONG!!! The AMD MP will only work with a 260 chipset board . Asus A7V333-D. So now I have Had to buy another AMD processor 2000 ,on it's way now .Then I will wait for another mobo to handle the MP as I don't like the specks on that one. Will be doing major changes this weekend I hope. Wish me luck. Backing up everthing again !! CaptRolo

In response to questions about FSAA / Anisotropic filtering in another thread, here is a composite picture with a few of the available combinations on my ATI Radeon 8500.The tests were done at 640x480, as that seemed to produce the most differences.However...the differences are small in screenshots. They are far more noticable on the moving image.Suffice to day, anisotropic filtering definitely works on FUIII with this card, and is very important in removing most of the texture shimmering.Ian

NoseWheel NewsFlashIn a follow-up to the tragic disaster of Wednesaday's flight LG99 (Seattle International to Clare Valley), the Washington Past was on the scene to bring you further developments in this breaking story. After locating the missing B747 nosewheel at a farmer's house, efforts to retrieve the wheel failed when a caseload of beer mysteriously emptied whilst in the custody of law enforcement offices Mike and Ken. Mike denied all knowledge of the incident: "I deny all knowidge of ther inshident", he said.Following routine investigations into its whereabouts, police tracked the wheel to a property in Forest Falls. Protocol robots were sent in to retrieve it, and…

Does anyone know where I can find a guide to how to configure joykeys in FU3? My stick is a 2nd generation MS Precision Pro... and great stick if long in the tooth. W/XP doesn't allow me to run my old profile activator... and MS says that they will no longer support these functions for the older sticks... so I have to figure out how to program these buttons.Failing that I may have to end up buying a new stick. Any suggestions? (Keep in mind that I also run racing sims... and use my stick for that as well)

Hi,any of you know how I could add Atis, Tower and so on to an existing private airport from the scenery package?ThanksTFT

  22. Started by Christopher Low,

I have just uploaded an upgrade package for anyone that uses Ansgar's 747 with my SanFran 2002 and Seattle 2002 scenery packs. This modifies player parking spots at several major airports, and also removes a few trees that were rather too close to taxiways. Now there will be no more problems with the 747 getting stuck in buildings when parked :-)Chris Low,ENGLAND.

I was experimenting with the flt3.cfg file... I was trying to obtain a better haze, and was experimenting with the haze methods. In the readme files, it seems that the best haze should be with "specular", followed by "Multipass", and the worst being "fog".But I tried "fog", just to see what happened, and in my opinion now the haze is much much better. It has a more "foggy" aspect, and you can see the distant mountains more and more "blending" with the haze... Give it a try. These are my new settings:use_haze_cache haze_cache_size 2048000TerrainHazeMethod fogModelHazeMethod fogSkyHazeMethod fogHazeMethod fogCristian
