I have this sim but have not been able to use it after I got my new computer with windows xp. I can't see why it wouldn't work with that but it doesn't for me. Anyone else using it with xp? Don

Sigh! The circle is completed. I knew the novelty of FS would wear thin ;-) I saw the following discussed, that some would rather prefer more detailed scenery of a local area than to have 60% detail of 100% of the world. Back to FU I say... :-lolhttp://ftp.avsim.com/dcforum/DCForumID8/10059.htmlPieter

If anyone in the UK could burn us a good copy of FU3 that would be greatly appreciated. I am willing to pay a small fee for this game (just name your price - and make it reasonable :/).If interested please e-mail me (e-mail link above). Thanks very much.Gazz.

When I start FU3, the controller isn't always connected even after correctly going through the calibration procedure. I can sometimes get it back after deleting and adding it again (Control Panel, Gaming Options, Controllers). Even when I do get the controller back it stays active for a short time only.I have two controllers, CH Flightstick Pro with pedals and a Microsoft Sidewinder Force Feedback stick. Both exhibit the same problem. I have only one controller at a time appearing in the Control Panel, Gaming Options, Controllers window.I would really appreciate some help, many thanks in advanceDon

Hi FU3 fellow simmers, since we're all flightsim lovers in general, I guess it won't hurt if I comment on a package for FS2002 I'm really enjoying these days. What can we do, after all, if our superb FU3 aircraft designers won't go for smaller, single engine light aircraft, specially vintage biplanes, as I would love!! :-)The package I'm referring to is the Grumman Duck for FS2002, by Heather Sherman and others... boy, this is FUN! I can't remember any other virtual airplane this "atmospheric", if you know what I mean.Even if nice, maybe this is not (technically) the best FS2002 aircraft I've ever seen (it doesn't feature a virtual cockpit, textures are not reflective, w…

OK here are a few more. Many of these were almost impossible to pull some color out of... just too much contrast with all the bright sunlight! (Take that you Washington bashers... rains all the time huh!)http://ftp.avsim.com/dcforum/User_files/3d780b504e921e74.jpgOn 2nd thought it has the wrong kind of engine for a Extra.http://ftp.avsim.com/dcforum/User_files/3d780b9b4ee54a12.jpgThis formation would seem unlikely... they still look great.http://ftp.avsim.com/dcforum/User_files/3d780bf94fa486a2.jpgWhen I used to watch the Blue Angels practice in Pensacola they were in F4s... but I saw them perform a couple of times at Oceana in the A4s. How about that Cub!http://ftp.avsim…

The latest issue of PC Gamer (UK edition) includes an interesting article about the best selling PC games in the UK. There is a list of the Top 50, but there are also other lists with some very interesting information. Top of the main list (predictably) is THE SIMS at around 750,000 copies (and this doesn't include any of the add-ons). This is followed by HALF LIFE at 470,000 copies, which clearly shows just how popular Will Wright's creation is. Probably of more interest to everyone here is the fact that there is only ONE flight simulator in this elite list (Microsoft's Combat Flight Simulator), with just over 200,000 copies sold.Unfortunately, there is also a list of te…

Hi!I have during the last days downloaded your new "fled model addons".after installing the complete "new Gray airforcebase" with many ofyour models included I was very pleased to see what it was.You are sure breaking new ground of FU3 addons. However I am running a pure P3-600 computer , and I had to remove some of the biggest moving objects to still have acceptable framerates.Just want to thank you for your work with this.I'll second "Glidernut's" statement of the new mechanic. He is much better.Lars Peter.:-wave

Finally had a bit of time to play with my new Radeon 8500 properly...The following were originally at 1024x768 with 4x FSAA and anisitropic filtering. It looks good, and I'm not missing the Voodoo5 - apart from in Flyings Corps Gold, which flat out refuses to run with the Radeon.Ian

I just got this image from Ed and thought that I wanted to share it with you. It's the front right quarter view, this time with a "kiss of flash" to avoid the shadows AND with a much better resolution. To be able to post this image I've reduced its size as well as increased the jpg compression but my original is outstanding. I'll cut out the windows and fill them with transparent green and we're all set.Hans Petter

The current version(v0.3) of Flight DF/x expires on the 1st of September.Unfortunately version 0.4 is not yet ready. It won't be ready for about another 2 weeks. If possible I'll try to get another date extension on v0.3 going.Sorry about the inconvenience.Anyhow, the biggest improvement in v0.4 is the addition of the Pilot's log book. Use it to keep track of your flights and cash earned.System sounds were also improved.Weather selector is somewhat better.v0.4 will have more detail information about each airport, but will have fewer routes for now.Regards Dexter "DFX" ://www.dextech.com/products/flightdfx

I was watching R/C planes fly around at a field the other day, and i was wondering if anybody was planning on making an R/C plane for FU3. Is anybody making one?-Tom Z

While trying to paint "Big Red" I've run into several quirks in the Baron's texture allocation. This image shows where the nose cone draws its texture from -- it's a spot far away, at the right edge of file 50. If I don't leave this spot white I get a red blotch covering the nose of the aircraft. I've limited it to the minimum size that will leave the nose white, through a lot of trial and error.Another thing, have you noticed the "antenna" on top of the trees? Evidently, it's the top of the two planes of this polygon showing. The trees are made using two crossing surfaces, to create the illusion of substance when viewed from any angle. Hans Petter

I've uploaded the log file of today's FURF-chat in IRC (in ZIPped DOC file form) to AVSIM's library. I have no idea when it will show up. I hope I did it right, as it was my first-ever upload to AVSIM.The file name should be FURFchatAug31.zip.

http://www.avsim.com/other/usaribbon.gifBob "FlyBert" StilesAVSIM Moderator

I have just seen something that puzzles me. I was using the Google search engine to find Laurie Doering's weather upgrades website, and I noticed something familiar about certain FU3 add-on descriptions at a site called www.fsfreeware.com.Yes, you guessed it. It appears that virtually every FU3 add-on that is available (or has been available in the past) at AVSIM is also downloadable from this site.Is this something that everyone here is comfortable with ? Do you mind that your add-on files have been transferred to this site without your permission ?I would like to know your thoughts.Chris Low,ENGLAND.

Hello all,I've been away from FU3 for about a year, but I wanted to give it a try again after flying to the US this summer with United Airlines, and listening to the ATC chatter the whole flight! My flight was from Amsterdam to San Francisco, and during my stay there i decided to head over to Half Moon Bay just to look at the FU2 default airport in real life! Unfortunately, it didn't really live up to my expectations. The area is really nice, but the airfield looked like a ghost town.. AAANYWAY.I came home a few days ago, wanting to play FU3 again. but then i realised I had bought a new video card since the last time I played FU3. An Nvidea Geforce 2 GTS/Pro. And now my g…

I wanted to start this post so everybody can share information on how to make your simulator (FU3 or otherwise) more realistic. I suggest a few things. Please feel free to add your own tips as well! Some of these suggestions people know, some might not, so i might add a few obvious ones in too.-When at idle, ALWAYS increase your throttle until you have your RPM gauge in the 800-1000 range. Most Operating Handbooks (depending on the aircraft) say the same thing. This keeps the engine from stalling and foul the spark plugs when at idle.-Anti-collision lights (the two wingtip strobes) should not be operating when flying through cloud, fog, or haze since the reflected light c…
