Excellent tutorial!the .e format reminds me of pov-ray which i have worked with in the past, so i should be able to pick this up quite quickly. We need new object for the england scenery and this should work well for that purpose, although doing the millenium dome might take some work ;)Thanks again for a great, well written tutorial

Hi all,I've installed FU3 on my XP system and it seems to work fine mostly. However, I get a crash to desktop when switching views sometimes, and always I seem to CTD when switching to the rear view.Anyone know if this can be fixed?thanksPatrick.

I was so busy boasting about how the baggage tractor was the rightsize (roughly) that I forgot to check its actual size and I have usedthe wrong dimensions. No wonder glidernut thought it had been washedin new Sudso supershrink (he didn't say that - he's too nice). I haverebuilt it, and its external dimensions are now correct to the inch.Sorry about that. I made a similar mistake with the Tucson runway -you couldn't have landed an Ultralight on my first model.I will post a new version soon.(talk about missing brains).

Hi all, I'm just trying FU3 again after not using it for a long time. Is it correct that the taxiways don't look like they have tarmac on them - they just look kind of yellow on my PC?I thought I remembered FU3 as having real looking taxiways but maybe it's just been too long!!!I have all the details sliders turned full to the right. It's not a huge deal but I'm just trying to make sure it's not a problem with my graphics card.thanksPatrick.

WITHOUT AND AIRCRAFT I flew into San Francisco International, did a few circuits around the SF area then checked out Seattle Town and the airports there before zipping off to Paris, France via Half Moon Bay and Manhattan all courtesy of a free thirty day Satellite download for Nvidia users at www.nvidia.com.It was great to compare updated views of these places with the Flight Unlimited 2 and 3 sims scenery that we all enjoy so much.'Earthviewer,' as it's called, gives earth views from space to zero feet and lets you identify your own home, business, parkland, clubs, restaurants in scores of places. It's packed withmany other features too.Has anyone else used it?I wonder i…

Based on a real baggage tractor design, this model looks much better, and is far more detailed, than the previous version. Unfortunately it is correctly scaled (roughly) and so is very small in the FU3 world. It has working lights, goes in the right direction, and should add a bright splash of colour to the apron. It has no driver.Enjoy!Robert.

I'm trying to paint Ed Weber's Baron and have made some progress.Issues:There's some anomaly with the engines, one is red when viewed from below and the other has a light gray area. Where are these drawing their textures from and why don't they come out identical? I've got one bitmap for each segment and anything on the opposite side should be mirrored automatically, to texture both sides of the aircraft.I get white bay doors while the ones for the nose gear should be red. Steve requested blue bay doors some time ago -- where's the bitmap responsible for the color of the bay doors?I tried to alter the rearmost window to match Ed's aircraft. Evidently, the placement of wi…

I don't know if any of you can help me.I am having a lot of sound problems using Windows XP with a Videologic Sonic Fury soundcard (uses Turtle Beach Santa Cruz chip set). The following problems happen:1: When swithching to outside views or map, I loose several sounds including engine and windnoise. I can get the engine noise back by reducing to minimum throttle and then throttling back up again.2: When pressing the test button in the Beechjet, The warning sounds are incredibly quiet.3: When toggling switches it seems entirely random as to whether or not I get any clicking sound.Has anybody else had similar problems and managed to solve them.CheersNeilps. Wondering if anyone has this enabled. I read about it in the Fu3 readme. I checked my Flt.cfg and found no reference to it. I copy/pasted it, and went up in the glider with my Fair weather cloudy-sunset file. Seems as though the clouds now have a nice feather at the edges that fade, blow, and re-appear through-out the flight. If I remember correctly, prior to enabling wisp, the clouds had more of a smooth edge to them.http://ftp.avsim.com/dcforum/User_files/3d4dffce33c19fd9.jpg

Hello, I want to get a new machine that specifically works well with flight sims (specifically FS2002 and FU3). For various reasons, I want to buy a pre-built and have narrowed the vendor to Micron. Here's my first stab at a spec. Can you guys please comment? First some questions, then the spec.* For the CPU I have the option of 2+gig chips with a 533FSB (what is that and do I really need it?).* Do I really need 512meg of RAM or will 256 do?* Do I really need a 128meg video card, or will the 64meg do?Thanks for any help. Anywhere I'm going overkill on these specs. I'm going from a PentiumII 400, 4 meg vid card if that makes a difference.Millennia TS2 Xtreme (D100N) Quanti…

I have used these objects to upgrade McChord and Grays AFB's. I don't want to upload Grays AFB without contacting original authoras I have modified her (I think) work. If there is interest I canupload my new version of McChord, but it doesn't include Chris'enhancements so is probably not worth doing.I invite negative feedback at this stage before I make too much more -I have enjoyed the positive comments but will not get much furtherwithout a few (tactf…

I recently upgraded to an AMD XP 2200+ w/ ASUS GeForce Ti4400. Installed Windows 2000 and reinstalled FU3 + patch + flt3.cfg file from my previous machine. Frame rates are a dream except at touchdown, when they drop to 1-2 fps for about 10-15 seconds and then recover. Same thing happens during crashes. I seem to recall this problem occuring on my original installation years ago but can't remember the fix. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.Cole Smith

The latest issue of PC Pilot magazine has reviews of three USB joysticks for flight simulation. I personally use a CH Flightstick Pro (which is one of the three reviewed), and I can honestly say that it is a top quality joystick. In fact, I have had this particular joystick since I purchased a Pentium 166 PC in October 1996 ! I have never bothered replacing it because it is such a superb piece of kit. In fact, it's the ONLY piece of PC hardware that I haven't upgraded with each new system purchase. The price of

Well guys, I have just received several complimentary copies of Issue 18 of PC Pilot. I am happy to say that the Flight Unlimited 2 article looks great, and includes plenty of the screenshots that I sent. Let's just hope that this issue kick starts more interest in the Flight Unlimited series. To be honest, I thought that it already had when I accessed the AVSIM site a few minutes ago. The number of active members appears to have increased by around 150 in just a couple of days ! I'm sure that this has nothing to do with the latest issue of PC Pilot, since it isn't available in the shops yet.Anyway, I just wanted to remind you all to try and get yourselves a copy of the m…

Thats typical what I usually do when I come here, check to see whats been recently uploaded.Perhaps I missed it, I didn't see Robert Ds' latest Fu3 model upload listed there (the hedges and concrete one)the last couple of days.Jim B.

Since my previous thread has become awfully long by now I think it's time to start another one. A good reason to start afresh is the fact that the previous thread included a lot of posts discussing my previous attempts, before we got the photos from Ed Weber's "Big Red". Since I'm committed to make a "big_red.res" now I want to concentrate on this one. Today's work yielded a left back quarter view. I'll call it a beta for now since I want to modify the night view before it's being uploaded. Actually, this one is a splendid example of the limitations to producing a night view simply by darkening the day view. I took off in hazy weather and changed the time of day to night.…
