Does Steve Hess or anyone else have a better flight model for a 172? I have Steve's 172 that borrows parts of the panel from Dreamfleet's 172, but it seems to have the same performance as the default 172. Personally, I think it is a bit on the optimistic side. Even if the temp is 59 degrees F and you are at sea level, you don't often see a 172 climb at 1,000 fpm, at least with 2 people aboard.Actually, all the default flight models seem a little over-powered. Is there a way to edit them, or have people made better flight dynamics for them. Not to bash the default models, of course, just asking if there is anything better for them.Ray - N89864

...I'd have no luck at all. For the second time in 5 weeks I have had a hard drive failure. My new Western Digital drive died. Western Digital drives do not seem to be my best friend as this is the second WD drive in 5 weeks to fail. All projects are on hold again until I get a new drive. That will be after I move, so we're looking a several week I guess. Sorry for the delays with the Archer and Arrow.

I just installed CH Products Pro pedals with my CH Products analog stick. It all works as intended in FS 2002.I did my homework and found this when searching the forum:Here are my joystick settings from flt3.cfg:; joystick setupjoy_device 2toe_brakes_device 1 1 2throttle_device 2 3mixture_device 2 7prop_pitch_device 2 8rudder_device 2 6 ----------From the CH site:; joystick setupjoy_device 2throttle_device 2 3rudder_device 1 3toe_brakes_device 1 1 2Save the changes and launch Flight Unlimited 3. You should notice that your 3 axis USB game controller now operates the ailerons, elevator, and throttle and the USB rudder pedals now control the rudder, left toe brake, and righ…

I thought that ATC were supposed to give an adequate amount of time for slower planes to clear their airspace before clearing airliners for take off ! This one obviously didn't fancy hanging around. Fortunately, I wasn't buffeted too much by wake turbulence !My flight was from Hamilton AFB (seen in the picture) to Moffett Federal. One other interesting development occurred after I had landed at Moffett. An F16 was cleared for a flight to LONDON HEATHROW !!!Best Wishes,Chris Low,ENGLAND.

I have no idea if I have the necessary talent or tools, but I have been thinking about the possibility of creating a new flyable aircraft for a change (as opposed to an endless stream of scenery add-ons). However, I have absolutely no idea what utilities I need to do this, or just how difficult it is. Can anyone advise me as to what I would need to get started ?Best Wishes,Chris Low,ENGLAND.

  13. If so, you are going to love our new upload system. Now, you have FULL CONTROL over your file desciption, its distrubtion rights, modifications or previous editions, your image uploads, and much more! Now you can present your file the way YOU want it to be presented. No need to rely on the interpretations of library managers or third parties. You get an email confirmation that your upload was successful, a CRC that let's you check file size to confirm your file was successfully sent, and an ID of that file that you can store away for future reference (for instance, if there is a problem with the file, you need to reference it in future uploads, and the like). The best news…

When I lost my hard drive, one of the things I lost was a list of those who helped me on the Archer. I would like to make sure that those who helped me get proper credit as that is only fair. If you did help, please let me know what you did to help. I don't want to forget anyone! Thanks

I took off from Brad Morris to check out this part of the outer terrain. What struck me is that there's a prounounced underlying mesh scenery here, with mountains and valleys. Your textures may not be exactly the same as mine since I've tweaked them (woods from - to elevation, rock from - to elevation, snow from - to elevation etc). However, with this quality of mesh it should be feasible to create a very convincing mountain scenery. I hope that these screenshots will convey the idea -- the outer terrain is much more than a boring expanse of green tiles. If we could make the weather files work correctly in the outer terrain Brad Morris might be a great spot for soaring and…

Hi Guys,a great teamwork has finished successfully! Glidernut, Lars Peter, Ansgar and myself proudly present the Glider Realism Challenge 1.0! This challenge simulates a fully working (energy compensated) e-vario in the Stemme glider. The e-vario sounds were recorded in a real glider by Lars Peter and created by Ansgar. Now you can "hear" accurately whether your Stemme plane is climbing or sinking. Also, you will be able to save off your position when exiting the challenge, to use variable non-airport starting-points (a list and map of Glidernuts no-engine-takeoff-places is included), and to use a Preselection Tool in order to define/modify your own challenge starting poin…

I found reference to this sight while searching the old forum for a fix for FU1 screen shot problems I'm having. The sight is up but the docs and pdf's seem to be corrupt? I'd look into this more but I've been given orders by the wife to clear the phone line. I succeeded in completely downloading one of them but Winzip reports the file as corrupt. Others I've tried, although reported as being 2+ megs, only download 6 to 100k and report as corrupt zips by winzip. If anyone has these, could they be uploaded to avsim? I haven't yet searched Avsim due to previous stated wife "command". I'm thinking the doc's/pdf's won't be there because in the course of searching for the PCX sc…

I just tried out the "no dome" DC3 at Port Angeles. Normally I tend to stay in the cockpit but this time I wanted to check the aircraft out from all perspectives. I went outside and moved around the aircraft and found it to be levitated about 1 foot above the ground. Later I scrutinized a Cessna and found it to be a bit above ground level as well.Since I reinstalled FU3 (due to hardware problems / upgrade) I haven't generated outer megatiles yet. Could this make a difference?Another issue that comes to mind, I did use Agtim's Coupeville Nolf elevation fix in my previous FU3 installation. Since I've still got the entire old FU3 on a backup partition, what files would I cop…

To all DC3 fiends,I have posted the '110_beta' DC3 plane.res file in the file library as it appears that Ansgar's original link doesn't work any more. Please note that this is a 'beta' fix, like the 'no-dome' fix and will be integrated into the DC3 resfile sooner or later. All it does is correct the 3D model altitude & must be used with either Ansgar's 110_beta files or my 'no-dome' files.PS It is my intention to re-release both of the VH-ABR liveries as complete aircraft, ready to fly, with all the improvements added. With all the fantastic work done by Ansgar and others to create the DC3, it's a pity to have it unfinished. Unfortunately, by the time you've downloade…

I just spent a couple of hours flying Pipers and Cessnas in FU3. Since we're constantly comparing FU3 to FS2002 here I go again:FS2002 wins on polygon complexity, no question about that. Still, our aircraft with the best of interior bitmaps look as good as those of FS2000 / FS2002. I realize that a lot of them are based on FS 2000 bitmaps kindly converted and adapted by Steve. The latest FS2002 fad, polygon cockpits (virtual cockpits) rarely looks stunning. To be fair, the FU3 F4 view is next to useless but my point is that interior bitmaps are a very good means of building a convincing cockpit. I do have some stunning FS2002 virtual cockpits but the zipped downloads were…

GeoTilesViewer 2.2 is ready for download from my homepageElevation error of version 2.1 is corrected in this version 2.2. At the generation of the 6x5z20.tga you can define a minimum terrain level to be set to 0. When you load a coastline from NIMAMUSE Raster Importer the sea is not 0 but something between 20ft and -10ft. http://www.agtim.ch/fu3/sealev06x5z20.jpgAdjustment of the coastline is the near impossible. Setting a value (16 ft) in the sea level field before exporting the terrain elevation, will set all values below 16 to 0 making a better coastline. You can choose another value. This temporary sea level is not stored ! the reference sea level is still 0.http://ww…
