Time to replace my batteries.. (APC Back UPS 650)Has anyone here used a much larger sealed battery outside the UPS case rather than buying the 12ah batteries that fit inside ? (And cost as much as a MUCH higher amp sealed battery...)I'm really thinking about going with a small sealed auto battery behind the desk and forget about the expense and short run time of the regular batteries. Thanks,Staggerwing

What with all this extra traffic, sometimes you just can't get off the ground :-(. Here I was, just running up the engines on a nice day, ready for a great flight when my DC3 exploded! A quick hit onF5 (and a quick screenshot or two) showed why. The Government's new, top-secret 'Titanium Trainer'!Why do AI planes have to be invincible? on another board I asked a question about a sim program to learn aerobatics with. They recommended Flight Unlimited. They never specified which version. They stated that the sim had a manual, as well as aerobatic "training missions" in which I sit in a plane with a "virtual pilot" guiding me through these. Is this feature in Flight Unlimited I, II, or III, or all of them? If it is in all of them, is there a difference between the "missions/lessons"? Is one version better than another for learning this kind of stuff?Thanks!Brain21

I read something on the FS2002 forum that surprised me. Apparently the engine nacelles of the NG 737's are circular (rather than being somewhat flat bottomed like the earlier 737's). Can anyone confirm this ? If so, Ansgar may have to modify the engines on his Ryanair 737-800 !I can't say that I have ever noticed this, but then again I haven't really been looking for it either. After all, there ARE other ways of distinguishing a NG 737.Chris Low,ENGLAND.

I was watching the flight of Concorde in FU II. After take of from SFO he(?) flew west and after maybe 20 min. turn back. Than he met B 747 ( probably ) & they flew together for a moment. After a few minutes B 747 was ahead so Concorde is flying slowler than B 747 !!!Jokke, is it possible to modify cruise speed to get bigger speed for Concorde ?You may see it on the screens below.:-hmmm

Hi I need some help to finish off my ARAP london central megtile. I have created the tga file indexed with the correct sanfran palette and as a test I cut a 4096x4096 block as required by genquadrant. However the results are far from what I expected when I reconvert the L0 to a tga file . You can see the results in the attached files. Any help on what I am doing wrong is most welcome.RegardsQvdG

I think that I am starting to like FS2002 more than I expected. I had initial problems getting to grips with the flight characteristics of the Baron, since it flies somewhat differently to that in FU3. However, I have just completed three successful circuits (including take off and landing) at the same airfield. The only problem was stopping the aircraft before it crashed through the hedge at the end of the runway ! I guess that's my fault for picking an airfield with a runway only 1600 feet long (Cromer by Gary Summons). The brakes on the FS2002 aircraft certainly aren't quite as effective as those in FU3, although I don't really know which one is simulated more accurate…

Is there a way? For those of us that own both, it'd be nice to be able to have the excellent photorealistic terrain textures in FS2k2 instead of the generic tiles.

Dear Simmers,Hi, everyone. I'm just back from some reserve service in the Israeli Army. It was a sweltering 47 degrees centigrade in the Jordan Valley. Added to wearing bulletproof vests, this was true hell. Thankfully all was quiet, with nobody getting in anyone else's way. It's nice to be back and reading the postings on this forum. Now to the question: notwithstanding a previous posting, does anyone have the alleged patch that will make the DOS version of Flight Unlimited 1 run on Win98 or 2000? This is the one DOS sim whose incompatibility with my current system I find lamentable. If anyone can help or email me the patch on [email protected], I would be truly deli…

Hi all,WOW!!! WOW!!! WOW!!!I've finally purchased FS2002 Pro - what a sim!!! It is everything I've always wanted in a flightsim and then some! I do not have enough words to describe my feelings towards this sim - now I understand why so many left this group never to return. I am IMPRESSED to say the least. For the first time EVER I can fly in my favourite microlighting areas in South Africa and actually feel at home!I'm not starting another flaming debate on FU3 versus FS2K2. No sir! All I want to know is what do you recommend I should download?I've just loaded all the new clouds, weather effects and Stearman. Most of you see flightsims in the same perspective that I do a…

Yo guys,I read somewhere I need MAKEMIP.EXE for transferring GIF files into MIP files for texturing FLED models. It definitely is not a part of my FU2 or FU3. I did not find it in the AVSIM libs as well. Please can someone upload the tool or mail me ([email protected]). I created some models with 3DSMAX and converted it to BIN format. The models are a bit pale now. For texturing I need the tool.BTW How do I create printscreens within FU3? The usual stuff (ctrl-printscreen or alt-printscreen or whatsoever does not work apparently). I tried to create a fancy shot for you guys....Bye, TIA, etc

I've been flying FUII for a while. The Baron became my favourite aircraft. Switching to FUIII, the Windhawk looked much like it. Though, it flies a bit different:- Windhawk apparently has more power.- On the Windhawk stalling starts below 60 knots. Even with moderate stall warning, the plane can be landed. On the Baron you're dead when stalling.- Landing at vertical speeds exceeding 5000 ft/min (gauge indicating 5) damages your landing gear on the Baron. On the Windhawk this is no problem.- I think the Baron breaks appart more easily due to overstressing the aircraft.- The engine of the Windhawk responds faster to the throttleFUII's Baron is harder to fly. It is more chal…

Dear All,To those of us who have to live with the dreaded 'blue line' when using FSAA (nVidia users and maybe some others?):Whilst editing the DC3 cockpit for my up-and-coming VH-ABR livery re-release, I came across an interesting point. This error is caused by the overlap (or lack of it) between the 3D screen region and the other panel rectangles. It isn't a line as such - if you look carefully, you'll notice that it's the outside view 'bleeding' through. I simply moved the bottom of the lowest rectangle down (using Cockpit Designer) until it was 1 pixel below the 3D rectangle - no line! Unfortunately, there's no simple fix for all planes, you have to edit each VFR and I…

For a long time I've been running FU3 in 800x600 resolution. Now I just tried 1024x768 and everything seems fine. I've got a hunch (or, a faint recollection) that there's some features that work best in 800x600 but I don't remember. Is there a compelling reason to stick with 800x600?best regards,Hans Petter

Hi allI have a question about FUII and the way the scenery dances and sizzles around.I bought FUII about 6 months ago and enjoyed it immensely, never having simmed before. The problem began when I upgraded my computer. My old machine was a 133MHz Pentium and the sim ran like a slide show, with frame rates in the 6 - 12 fps range. The scenery however was rock-solid.Then I upgraded to a 733MHz machine and was getting frame rates in the 40 - 70 fps range - wonderful, running like warm syrup!!But then I noticed that the scenery in low-lying areas was dancing around like crazy, especially in city areas. Mountain areas are generally Ok, its the high detail, flat areas that ar…

The models.res is more then 12MByte filesize and is reduced to approx. 1,4MByte as exe-file now!Pls. extract it to any temporary directory and read the attached readme.txt carefully before installing it.I
