Dear All,Amongst all the models I've been working on (and the S340...), I have decided to 'clean-up' a couple of packages and post them for all to enjoy/be amazed by/slug their system with. The first one (by popular demand - I really should keep my mouth shut...) is the Half Moon Bay 'set', which adds Pillar Point Marina (with a seaplane airport icon) and a plethora of stuff at the South end of the strip, together with other stuff around the area. It's rather heavy on models as it is my Sanfran 'test area' so if you're used to Clare's Valley, you shouldn't be surprised :-roll . I just need to fix some details north of Half Moon Bay a/p and I'll upload it all*.* ~24 models,…

I have just decided to make even more work for myself. I have decided that the trees that I added at all of the airports in the SanFran region suffer from the following problems:- 1. There are far too many of them.2. They are scattered over far too wide an area.3. They look totally rubbish :-) Therefore, I have decided to scrap the existing trees, and start from scratch. The new packages will have fewer trees, but they will be arranged in a more attractive fashion, and they will also be more tightly integrated with the airports themselves (in other words, I do not want to add lots of trees that are located far from the airport runways). In fact, some of the airports will …

Dear All,I have finally completed the modelmip.tag changes, so they're almost ready to upload ;)For those that don't know what I'm talking about, I have taken the original tagfiles for both regions, added the ntree and FBO upgrades (no floaties - woo-hoo...) and recompiled them. I spent all weekend flying around Seattle and Sanfran, making sure everything's 100% BUT I'd still like to get someone else to test them for me.Any takers? It will require overwriting your existing modelmip.tag files (which you should backup first) and visiting a dozen or so airports in each region, to check that everything's present and solidly anchored to the ground. Please post here if you are …

Hello,I got a new computer so I'm come back to FU3 and many other sims.I installed it, all seems ok excepted an horizontal line on some views. Also in flight, the scenery seems to have an ondular move (like a wave), (no I was not drunk;-)Please is someone have idea about that (setting of card or flight3.cfg) ?config : Ath 3500+, Leadtek 6800GT, XP pro.Last but not least, when the result of search on the forum have several pages, I can read only the first. Well, I have just discovered something quite interesting about San Francisco International Airport. I was having a look at the Pacific West Airways (virtual airline) website, and I noticed the following:-"If the weather at SFO is above VFR minimums, SFO does not use ILS approaches at all, ever. Pilot's who cannot accept a charted visual flight procedure or standard visual approach following other traffic can expect long arrival delays in a holding pattern, awaiting a break in arrivals for vectors for a full ILS approach."Apparently, this is the case if the pilot can see the two landmarks required for a visual approach procedure (the San Mateo Bridge, and the airport itsel…

Hiya everyone, having just registered with AVSIM, here is my first post. A loooong time ago when i was really into computer games, playing on my then top of the range pentium 200 MMX ;-) I played the demo of FU2 and was hooked. I never played simulators much before, but something about flying in the pinky sunset, with beautifully rendered scenery below just got to me. After a while i got a bit bored of FU2, and heard that FU3 was coming out! but alas my PC was far too slow to play it. A couple of years ago, I tried to look for FU3 for sale but couldnt find it so pretty much ended up forgetting flight unlimited and playing PC games altogether. PRESENT DAY: I now have a fai…

FU3 Avsim Library Scenery Files Compatibility Q & AAndre Meystre ("agtim") and Rob Driscoll recently combined efforts to produce a Basic and an Advanced Library Listing for FU3 files in the Avsim Library. In the Advanced Listing, Rob inserted an explanatory note concerning scenery compatibility which raised a few additional questions. Rob has been kind enough to expand on the subject in this Q & A format.Work is proceeding energetically on a UK South scenery package, but this is a work in progress and is not yet complete. That means the current Avsim scenery files are related only to the two original scenery areas of FU2 and FU3, San Francisco and Seattle. These c…

I have been a fan of the Flight Unlimited series ever since FU1. It was the first taste of photo realistic scenery. I eagerly awaited FU2 and was thrilled when it first came out. I was able to explore the huge San Francisco area, which kept me busy for months. The scenery seemed even better when FU3 came out, and once again I could explore the entire Seattle region. I however still enjoyed the geography of the SFC area more.It was disappointing when Looking Glass folded up, and I thought I would never experience scenery as good ever again. When Microsoft Flight Simulator FS2002 came out, it had finally reached a level that was acceptable for me to use as my main flight simu…

Well, in an attempt to wake up this forum :-) I have decided to post several screenshots of the upcoming SanFran 2005 pack.1. Bruno Mountain radio towers (all TEN of them) !2. Coyote Point (this is just left of the approach to runway 28L at San Francisco International, and includes a marina, LOTS of trees, and electricity pylons threading through the golf course. When the pack is eventually released, there will also be an electrical substation here....located in that light blue patch just behind the pylon that is sitting in the middle of the golf course).3. KCBS radio towers, with Gnoss Field in the background.4. Walpert Ridge radio tower (I only discovered this one earli…

I don't have Uk Hires but thought I'd make this. I've gotten as far as I can with this. Thought I'd upload it here. It's 3ds only with textures and a screen shot. No windows or doors. Does not have lights. Too many poly's for Flt3, but maybe you fellas can get it compatible for Flt3 use. I can't figure out why the black dome and rails won't render. Here's the web address giving details and history of the lighthouse.http://www.bellrock.org.uk/lighthouse/lighthouse_rock.htmHere's my screeny:http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/113945.jpgBye JimB

This is very embarassing. I suppose this is why I fly sims and pilost fly planes.I flew crosscountry from east to west, a long flight with lots of great conversations with the ATC, following VOR's etc. All very sophisticated, a beautiful sunrise on takeoff etc etc. A really great flight. I arrived at the destination airport, ignored ATC's request to join the traffic pattern and requested a straight-in approach, which they were happy with. Then I lined up, plonked her down so slow right on the centreline touchdown and went for the reverse thrust. Then I got this horrible grinding noise.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/114267.jpgNo U/C!!!!!I forgot!Cheers,Robert.

the new satellite photo and map thingy from'Google' (link)http://maps.google.com/coverage is limited to mainland USA only at the moment, but satellite photos are more up to date than Terraserver.http://maps.google.com/maps?q=Berkeley&spn...43759&t=k&hl=enshould get you a photo of Berkeley and Treasure Island,San Franand thishttp://maps.google.com/maps?q=gnoss&ll=38....07617&t=k&hl=enshould get you the hangars at Marin County (Gnoss)airport ,which is a lot busier than Looking Glass ever made it on this evidence, as is this one,Marinhttp://maps.google.com/maps?q=Berkeley&ll=...07617&t=k&hl=enInteresting to see how all the individual 'T' ha…

Hi Chris.I'm scratching my head as to what i possibly did wrong. But after finally getting FUIII to run with sound, I thought i'd start installing the updates.I followed your 'Seatle 2005' install txt instructions to the letter, & placed everything where you say to put it.FUIII loads ok, but since my last run i had San Fran selected as the loading region.Upon going to the region button & selecting Seatle, it defaults to Sea Tac ..... This is ok to begin with.Launching the sim is also ok & I can fly. However, if i either go to select another airstrip to fly from (bringing up the map), before I start, or once started (at Sea Tac) & bring up the Map just to l…

Hi all,Well it has been YEARS but I thought I'd return & revisit my old FUIII, & get a bit nostalgic, & enjoy in once more.So I performed a full install from scratch, & also included the San Fran scenery when prompted to.However, when running the sim. I hear the jet startup sound when the main menu loads. But thats it!I vaguely recall that the icons made a 'noise' when you clicked on them... But most important....Once the sim is running, I hear NOTHING!!? No ambient sounds, no engines, no wind or AI!I've checked all the sliders in the options & ALL are up!.Am I missing something, or is my install a bit stuffed!??Should i scrub the lot & re-instal…

I decided to have a look through the FU3 file library yesterday, in a bid to determine how many package authors there are. Since there has been some discussion about "cleaning up" the file library, I thought that I would find out just how many entries can be attributed to individual authors.....and these are the "top 15" :-)Hennie Van Rooyen..... 63Robert Driscoll....... 60Andre Meystre......... 42Pete Collis........... 29Jon Point............. 24Steve Hess............ 23Markus Brunner........ 17John Lewis............ 14Ansgar Avermeyer...... 13Jouko Huovinen........ 12Daniel Lindstrom...... 11Steffen Schiedek...... 11Naji Chehabbedine..... 10Peter Ridge........... 10Tom …

Having read the good things on this site about FU 111 I bought a copy. It installs OK but I have the following problem. My joystick (Logitec Wingman FF USB and pedals (CH Pro ) do not work. Everything works perfectly with FS9. There is no pitch or roll control via the stick and the throttle does not work. The power on the aircraft varies if I push the rudders ! FU 111 must know the stick is there as I can set up the buttons on the stick ( in the Logitech profiler ) to operate the flaps etc. I have been through the test/calibration process in the control panel several times. Op system is XP. Hope someone can assistCheers Bill

OK, here is another question for any residents of the San Francisco Bay area (or anyone else who has knowledge of the area). The DRG map of Mare Island that I have shows a total of eight radio towers. However, I have managed to have a look at close range, high resolution colour aerial photos of this location via Microsoft's Terraserver website.....and I can't see a single radio tower. So, does anyone know if there are any radio towers left on this island ? If there are, what do they look like ? Are they slim masts that are supported by wires, or tall, TV tower type structures ?Any information, photos etc. would be very welcome.Cheers,Chris Low.PS. Mare Island is located to …
