Why does the model of the Carquinez Bridge float in the air ?Chris Low.

Still doing a bit of a system restore after a computer re-org a month or two back I decided to reinstal FS2004 plus recent official patch last night. It took me a good 2 hours to reinstal that plus my add ons including Megascenery Southern California and its recent patch. I then fired up in Southend UK using the ABacus Enhanced Terrain package. This is simply awful in comparison to FU3Uks. Then switched to Banning California. I swear it took at least 15 minutes to load!! IMHO FS2004 is not a good program. Too many tweaking choices, and their premier scenery packs still dont take it to FU3 level. So sincere thanks to all you designers and clever people who have kept FU3 go…

I have been trapped into working a long string of 12 hour days. Did 7 of them in a row. Then "only" 10 for the last 2 days. That combined with the need to take care of some real life needs during the few hours I wasn't working or sleeping has kept me away from here. I doubt I was missed but offer my apologies anyway. :)I'm fairly certain that I'll only have to do 8 for the next 2 days then it will be back into the heavy duty stuff. (I hate 12 hour days! :()

Ansgar,I sent an email some time ago, asking about some details on modifying the B400 for the S340 turboprop. I DO have it working OK now (no crashes - except mine of course :-roll ) but: - I'm still stuck on the gear doors. I've tried inserting them in the flight model as gear but still no joy :-( I have 7 axles and 7 gears but it seems I can only ever get the first 3 legs (0,1,2) to move. - Did you have any joy on how to move the digital ASI etc? I simply RE-moved it (!)'coz the S340 has a 'conventional' ASI but I'd still like to figure out which files in the resfile control the digital ASI, attitude and GPS. - I wanted to change the GPS screen background but it made N…

I want to say hello to my home spot :-wave.Today evening, I felt like making a short hop in FU3 San Francisco, with of course a nasty weather. Took off from a lonely strip and headed about north at 1900ft in the Mooney. The sound of rain in FU3, its splashes and streaks on the windshield and the side windows, the heaviness of the clouds, I could go on :)... It is really exhilarating! The feeling of flying in such weather is very satisfying; still can't experience it wholly in FS2004 ;-).I guess after today's flight, I'm going to spend more time again in it.All the best.

Does anyone here use a TFT monitor for FU3 ? If so, any comments about the quality ? I am aware that the native resolution of these beasts gives the BEST picture quality, but the native resolution of the monitor that I am interested in is 1280x1024. As you will be aware, FU3 can go no higher than 1024x768, so I would like to know if the picture quality would suffer to any appreciable degree. Thanks for any help.Chris Low.

Again, I'm fascinated by the rain and snow in FU3. The snow is so believable. And when one flies in intense rain, the effects and sound and chaos it creates in the cockpit really makes you feel wet :-lolAs to the question, it is related to night city lights and countryside lights (I've searched the forum to no success): even with max AA and AF and max resolution, the night lights flicker. I remember with the Voodoo 5, they were much more fixed and focused, especially the countryside lights. Anyone has a suggestion? My graphics card is ATI X800Pro. Thanks...

Dear All,The S340 is ticking along nicely with one exception - the internal cockpit views are :-erksI could use the Dash8 ones for now but I'd rather... you know! The panels are fine, BTW - it's the other 7 views I'm having problems with (actually, the rear view isn't so bad). My only shots are so small and grainy they're useless. Add to that the fact that I never get to fly on S340s any more (the company car has fixed short-haul flying) AND I don't know anyone at Rex.I'd appreciate any or all help, including line drawings if available.I'm really stuck (and I thought this'd be easy...) :-( Try as I might, I can't find any MSFS views either :-rollRegards,**************Jonat…

Found FU1 in its original carton in a flee-market. The CD loads to my C-drive but the sim refuses to start in Windows XP Pro. Does it require DOS and an earlier form of Windows? Would be nice to try this first sim from Flight Unlimited/Looking Glass. Any help?Roland

Does anyone know where I can get detailed "Ordnance survey style" maps of the San Francisco Bay area ? I would like to create a SANFRAN PYLONS package for this region in FU3, and a decent map showing the location of power transmission lines would be a great help.Chris Low.

Greetings everyone. I am giving up Flight Sims and concentrating on Combat Strategy games. The old eyes and reflexes are not what they used to be! Well anyway I have both of these Sims for sale. Flight Unlimited 3 has its Manual and Keyguide but FU2 doesn't. I am selling both for $50.00 U.S. dollars. I live in Austin Texas USA. Now is your chance to get these hard to find Sims. No bidding involved like at ebay. I even have the UK scenery disks with installation intructions if you want them. . Thanks and email me [email protected] if interested. PLUS I will also include Microsoft Flight Simulator 2002 absolutely FREE!

Before I dive headfirst into getting my XP upgraded to SP2 (Microsoft keep telling me I need to do it), does anyone know of any major issues it may cause in FU3, particularly UK region.ThanksAndyP.S. I'm still around just busy

I seem to be having trouble getting through to Chris on his email but I did receive the 2005 San Fran and Seattle upgrade packs from him thanks. I installed both onto a stock FUIII instal and deleted the extraneous airfields as per the instructions and went to fly. I found airfields, buildings and trees in the water in both regions. Anyone else had trouble with the 2005 updates? Maybe I should have a dedicated FUIII Seattle version and a seperate one for San Fran altogether. I have a 256mb Radeon 9600XT video card and I use Omega drivers if that is relevant. Any advice would be appreciated thanks.:-hmmm

I guess this could be considered sort of a farewell (to FU3 anyway). I'm going to reinstall my system completeley later this evening, and I'm afraid I won't install FU3 anymore.Reason for that is I haven't felt like using it for months, since I am definitely hooked on the FS2004 graphics, and the incredible wealth of add-ons available, which virtually let me fly whatever aircraft I prefer, wherever I want in the World. Not that I'm never going to visit this forum again (somehow I feel "at home" here), but obviously I'll have much less to say from now on.Thank you very much to all of you for these years of enjoyment, and specially to those who participated in the chats, wh…

Some time ago I started cleaning up the "Big Red" Baron. I ended up with a new palette for the paint job. The livery is cleaner and I also touched up some of the cockpit views. Then I implemented parts of Steve's panel bitmap without editing any gauges. Basically, I used Steve's preview bitmap and added a "Big Red" touch to a panel that we already had. I'd rather see a fully remade Steve Hess panel but it seems unlikely that he'll ever finish it.Thus, a Big Red version 2 is ready. I may upload it or send it to someone for a beta test. Any takers? Here are some pics of the new AI aircraft from Ansgar. I have tested them in only this one region, and had no problems with installation or running. I turned the AI up to max, so there are queues of aircraft waiting at some spots. Esp Luton of course with its taxiway/runway conflict.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/103435.jpgJaguar liveryhttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/103436.jpgRyanAir - this might be an old one?
