Sorry guys... my body has kinda gone tratorous of late. I've come down with sciatica which has sort of put my life on hold at the moment. I think the last time I heard of it was in the 1950s from my grandmother. Nasty stuff. I have some physical therapy scheduled and I hope to be able to get back on track.

I am continuing to work on upgrading London buildings, and some examples are shown here. Sorry Hans Petter, I can't put together a version for the web or email just yet, as its only recently that I released the last build of the models database, and also I have further plans that I want to finish first - explained below. Anyway, some shots first.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/120136.jpgNew facade for the ExCeL conference centre, with the Holiday Inn (left) and Brittania Bridge (redid piers for this too).http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/120137.jpgI have just about finished resetting all of the London buildings to their new heights after the excellent terrain work by …

The Shell oil refinery at Coryton.Jon's development of breakwater models has come at just the right time for me. You can see them in the foreground of one of these shots. The long pier was adapted from the one I made for Cowes, and I built a series of white tank models for the foreground and new pipework for the refinery. This is a spectacular view as you fly down the river towards Southend, and I hope to plug a further gap with a Dartmouth package soon. Also I have recently redone the LCA airport. So I have thrown in a few pics of this. Major changes were: - upgrading terminal model - replacing runway and surrounding models with one large model - accurate placement of bu…

I made this for making Sea object textures. Made another for Sf object textures. Why? I'm lazy, moving the sea.pal here or there on my hard drive got tiresome. So can just open this gif and the sea or sf pal is there. Makes for easier "eyedroppering". Carpal tunnel syndrome begone.Sea' is first.Interestingly, Sf palette doesn't seem to really use a full 256 colors.bye,JimBhttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/119793.gifhttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/119794.gif

I did this ASW28 glider from skrach useing drarings, and Iv only been working on it for two weeks, but allredy she is looking good, dont you think?Iv just got my first axl to work, and I feel like selabrateing, its like giving berth, well, orright, its not like giving berth, but it is werth menshioning. The whight papers discribs 2 methods of createing axils, but I couldant get ither ofthem to work. The axil I hav got working is a pree existing one I got from the Gooseexampl of how to bild models, the nameing convention of axils in the Gooes is nuthing like what the whight papers say it should be, but at leest thay seem to work. Its got no skin on it, I havant figered out h…

Our friend and co-moderator Bob "FlyBert" Stiles has suffered a loss... his mom died over night. Bob & his mom have been especially close over the years. She has been in a wheelchair and essentially in his care for over 40 years. Having lost my own mom less than 10 months ago I have some understanding of just how tough this can be. :(

Last year I got to "fly" two big full motion sims. As much as I'd love to do that again I can't. But I did manage to have some fun:http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...g_id=8139&page=

Real good one. They report 839 modern planes altogether. Funny thing; they have 11 shopping carts in their "misc." section. :D Gotta' always be ready for your virtual Sams Club excursions. :-hah http://blueprints.onnovanbraam.com/You all take care,JimB

For the experts out there. Over the years the framerates on FU3 seem to have got slower on my computer. When it was new, I as getting 15 fps dropping to 8 fps in built-up areas. Now all regions have dropped to 12 fps and built-up areas down to 4-5 fps. Ignoring the obvious, that its getting a bit old, I wonder what has caused this? It is almost unuseably slow now, which is spoiling my interest in running the sim. I defrag often, its a massive hard disk and has lots of other programs on it.RobD.

This airport in the SanFran region needs upgrading. The main runway 12/30 is 4500 feet long in the real world, and runway 05/23 is 3000 feet. However, landing the Beechjet here in FU3 has always been a tricky business, and that main runway isn't even close to 4500 feet in length. In fact, based on a comparison with other runways in the region, it appears to be less than 2500 feet long :-eekThis is something that really needs to be sorted out. The terrain textures appear to show some kind of drainage channel directly in front of the runway 30 threshold, but it is obvious that work has been done to change this at the real Byron airport. Extending the FU3 runway in this dire…

I have a little program which can1) look at materials used in models (a sort of Windows version of the old BinInfo program)2) check that a package has all models and all mipfiles available. The program was made by analysing the structures of the modelmip.tag, the BIN files and the package structure. I had some brilliant help from agtim (with a code example!) to help with the package structure, which made it all very easy. This package would be of use to package developers. I am not sure if there is enough interest to warrant release on AVSIM, but if anyone wants a copy, contact me.File structure for modelmip.tag:a) header, with address of a 'directory' of all models:( BIN a…

There are no beautifull red pixals in the Seattle models palette. And as a consiquence, non of the models in Seattle has a realy beautifull red.Even if the other of a model wanted a beautifull red for his model, by the time the model gets into Seattle, its a dul red, or even a dul blouw, dipending on which region is serlected just bifor selecting Seattl to fly in. Confusing isant it!Anyway, I edited the Seattle models palette and changed its best red to a brighter red. Nouw lots of models in Seattle hav a much brighter beautifull red, unles I forget to serlect Sanfran just bifor I selecting Seattle to fly in, in which case the models apeer blouw. But at leest its a beautifu…

All,To those of you waiting for email packages and other info I apologise. The company is moving locations right now and, although I'd hoped I could work through it, there have been too many interruptions and my internet access has been patchy. This should all begin to improve next week, and will (hopefully) culminate in a broadband connection at home (fingers crossed) in the weeks to come. Then I'll be online 18 hours per day :-lolUntil then, Hotmail's anti-virus software interprets binfiles as viruses so that method's out too. Guess we'll all have to wait :-roll :-wave

A potential new member of the FU3 community has a joystick problem, and I would like to know if anyone can solve it for him. He is trying to use a USB Saitek Cyborg Evo joystick, but FU3 is only recognising the throttle control at the moment. He can't get the directional controls to work, and the thought of having to use the keyboard to fly around is giving him nightmares ! :-)He has told me that he will register here, and provide more details regarding his problem. Since many of you use joystick/throttle combinations that would make a Space Shuttle pilot nervous....I suspect that someone here will probably be able to help :-lolChris Low.

I think its entiyerly to do with the high quolaty models in uk-south.With no models in vew, Im geting 38 fps, in bothe Seattle and in the uk-south.Is it only the poigon count? Or is it other things as well?My specs:Operating System: Microsoft Windows XPProcessor: Intel Pentium
