Greetings to all.I'm posting these preview shots of the scenery I'm making to get your opinion. It's HER/LGIR Heraklion/N.Kazantzakis in Crete.I am using the old technique of multiple square ground polygons resempling a large bitmap which contains the whole airport.These are only day shots, night lighting is also there.I have reduced the size of the textures to 512x512x256 colors simple bmps and did not use DXT since the plain BMP seems to give better quality.The performance is quite good. The airport also includes custom runways, all the taxiway, runway and apron markings, dirt all over and all the access roads of the airport.Please tell me what you thing. Is the qual…

When I designed scenery with ASD 2.1, I used the "lines" function to lay out taxiway lighting along taxiways and polygon areas. Although tedious, this approach allowed precise positioning of taxiway lights and seemed to give a better appearance than just assigning taxiways to be lit by default. Using lines also allowed me to place taxiway lights along polygons that I created adjacent to taxiways ( ie: using a polygon to make a sweeping turn area off of a taxiway and have the taxiway lights follow the turn... see jpg picture attached ) Is using the "lines" function the only way to place taxiway lights precisely ? Without the gracious help of several of you, I wouldn't be at the stage I'm at now, and that's putting the GMax model into FS2002. For that, I thank you. I have successfully imported the bare, non-textured model into FS2002 and it appears in the right position. However, when I follow the instructions to apply the texture using the ImageTool and creating MipMaps in DXT1 format, it never appears on the building itself in FS2002.Am I missing a critical step in this process?Thanks, all.Jay

Hi!I'm getting my feet wet (oh so slowly!!) with Gmax. But I have a problem to start with.I have installed the version that comes with 2K2 but here's what I see when I click the mouse's right button into anyone of the panes. http://www.colba.net/~hcaron/Nightbird/GMaxprob.jpgOver the DISPLAY and under the TRANSFORM lines, normal text should appear where now are some kind of cabalistic signs :-(I have re-installed the prog twice and these still appear. Dear All:I'm learnig the gmax software with some difficulty, i can get a library object from the .asm files from my object, but FSregen just allow me to create one bgl file per object library.Is there a way to include in one bgl files two or more gmax object library?I don't want to create a lot of small bgl files for each gmax object i made.Thanks.Alfredo Mendiola LoyolaLima Peru

No response to my question in the general discussion forum, perhaps this is a scenery issue ?? The question is - can runway lights be set ON for 24 hours. This is possible in Fly!2 and adds considerably to the realism.John Amm.

I am using Airport v2.9 build 26 and can't seem to find the ARC support that was in earlier versions. I haven't been concerned with taxilines during the latest couple of builds so I don't know when it was left out (if it indeed was). I am looking in the "Lines and Lines of Objects" menu. That is where it used to be. Does anyone know? Also, on a different note, does anyone know if Airport is going to start support for a "snap-to-line" function like the new FSSC does? I would do my taxilines in FSSC but I keep getting corrupt polygons when I inport my Airport file.Thanks in advance.

Hello everybody.After a long time of inactivity I'm slowly getting back to scenery design. My current project is Heraklion HER/LGIR in Crete, Greece.As I have very detailed ground charts for this airport, I though it would be a nice idea to have it all made out by a set of square polygons cut off a huge bitmap. This bitmap/texture contains the whole airport. Grass, runways, taxiways, apron markings, everything.The result is quite nice. The whole airport is made out from 28 square polygons each containing one 1024x1024x8bit texture.Then during my flights I noticed a few things that I can't work out.1. Im sorry of this has nothing to do with scenery design but I need some help and dont know where else to post.I am trying to use the NL2000 scenery with fs2002, but I can never get passed the installation. Once it gets to the folder path it says that it cant go there (C/:Program Files/Microsoft Games/ Fs2002/ Scenery/ nl2000_2). So I try to to change the path, but it wont let me because it says run time error 380, and closes itself.If anyone knows what I should do can you please please please tell me!!!thx

Hi All, I am a bit confused after trying to decode a bgl file. According to the 2000 Scenery SDK, I have two possible formats of the bgl file: pre-2000 and 2000 (not knowing what the proper format of 2002 bgl files are). If I interpret the file as a pre-2000 scenery file (which I doubt it is), the header is immediately followed by opcode 0x01 (which is deprecated) and then opcode 0xcd which I cannot find any entry for in the SDK. If I interpret the header as a 2000 header, which I think it will be, I am confused by the lack of the magic number. Still, immediately after the header, the opcode 0xdc is present which I also cannot find any entry for. If I go directly to the o…

Hi everybody - I created this not bad looking building texture in Photoshop Elements and am working on getting it mapped to the GMAX 3D model, but unfortunately, the texture looks very "low-res" and warped when mapped onto the model despite me getting all the vertices in the right place on the texture. Does anybody know why this is happening?Thanks,Jay

Hi Arno it's possable to animate a flag(bit plane) in 3DSMax so it will "wave" in the wind by what's called a "space warp" once your object is created you create a space warp then you "bind" the objectto the warp as in the above photo. Dan

Has anyone had any luck with this? Within Annotator I have the ability to choose onother texture file -- presumably as a sort of localised way to change the buildings -- but I can't make it work. My new 'buildings' have shadows, but are completely invisible. I've tried moving the new texture to the main texture folder, but to no avail.What I am trying to do is to make large hedges in place of autogen buildings -- replacing the building texture with hedge texture. I've left the houses as is, and I'm attempting to choose what is house and what is hedge. At the moment all I get is invisible houses and hedges.
