Hi Gerrish,Do you plan to work on more "3D" trees soon ? Time for flat trees has been don't you think. I am working on a scenery right now and hope to find time and computer ressources to be able to include more realistic non flat trees. Of course your textures are superb and as the other people I am really happy with them and would like to be updated on your furture developements. Thanks again.

The first time I use Fsregen everything was working fine now I made a new building with gmax export it with "keep the files" the files are there. but when I try to open them with fsregen it s always the same song: This file can not be used (already processed). Is the only solution to make a scenery to put my big foot in my PC I begin to be really disapointed to make all these prog work. As they work the rest is pretty funny but It take me two times more time to make them work as to make the scenery :-(I thank in advance all people who help meMichel

Hi, I have made an airfield perimeter fence, using a texture with transparency, but in FS the fence appears to "shimmer" a lot. Can this effect be avoided? Thanks,Daniel

A couple of days ago I posted a rant here that the transparency in FS2002 is useless for buildings. I poked around a bit more and I'm now coming to the conclusion that there is a serious bug in the FS2002 engine...Pic 1 shows what I get. As I said previously, this is unreal. Only the glass surfaces facing the sun should have the highlight blended over them, not the whole building! The building looks like it is made out of chrome, rather than having just ONE highlighted side. Pic 2 shows a quick attempt to reproduce what I WANT to have. The side in the shadow is a bit dark, basically I want the original texture without any highlights on the side facing away from the sun.If…

I'm doing several square miles of photoreal scenery, with at least a hundred ponds and lakes all through it. My problem is that the water shows up much too bright and blueish. The water in the area I'm modeling (Central New York State) is much darker and greener. How do I change the color of the water? Thanks, Glidiator

I just read the new MS SDK on "Custom Terrain Textures" and it leaves me asking a bunch of questions.Am I to understand that if I use their method, that it will use the default MS scenery (i.e. runways, roads, airports, navaids, etc...) but replace the standard FS textures with my phototextures? Suppose it does the above mentioned, then how would I go back and add all my hundreds of custom macros? I used Architect 2002 to create all the airports, and to position all the buildings to match the photoscenery but using the "new" method, I would have no idea how to do this. It would be nice if I could do all this using Architect 2002 but I have no idea how to do it.I have a…

My new South Florida landclass file renders the Everglades as a featureless marsh texture. This is close to reality but not quite. One of the prominent features out there are "tree islands" but they are too small to render effectively as a default texture. Does anyone have any suggestions for a way of creating these features? I thought of an overlay texture for islands with a transparent alpha channel around them. A sample of what they should look like is below:

  13. I HAD plans for making an airfield at this Island called Jan Mayen (ICAO ENJA), to be a part of Norwegian Airports package, which I'm making a few airports for. Unfortunately it seems that Microsoft has placed a bug in the scenery just in the middle of the island, where the airfield should be. The bug is a wide "street" of water running east at N70*56 about halfway the earth around, which also flattens the terrain on it's way. Is there any way to correct this? Also see the screenshot I have provided, with the lat/long on the screen.http://home.online.no/~kjbersas/div/enjabug.jpg

Perhaps my post didn't have enough information the first time but this seems like the place to inquire. Im not a programmer but enjoy the opportunity to make small changes in fs2002. Having learned how to place new and more interesting planes in my fs2002 program, moving on to changing the scenery seemed like the next logical step.Downloaded Microsofts gmax scenery tutorial and did fine until I got to converting *.gmax files to .BGL files. The Export selection will not highlite. And I did read that downloading gmax from the web will not allow this process. But I used the gmax program that came with my fs2002 program tho' the tutorial was downloaded. The MakeBGL progr…

  18. HiFinal Installment of Flight Simulator 2002 SDKs Released -- Microsoft is pleased to make available the final component of its software development kit for Flight Simulator 2002. This last set of six SDK documents covers scenery and terrain components and includes the scenery SDK from Flight Simulator 2000 as a reference as it is unchanged for 2002. Information included in these documents will enable you to add custom elevation terrain, ground textures, and even aerial imagery to the Flight Simulator environment. For more information, see the Developer's Desk. http://zone.msn.com/flightsim/FS02DevDeskSDK15.aspExplains how to add new line and polygonal data such as roads,…

Thank you finally for releasing this SDK!I had a quick browse and I quite liked the Terrain SDK, although a tool would have been nice. Probably, people without too much technical knowledge won't understand, but I found it a great read. :-)Now, the Custom Terrain Textures. We did a bit of a rushed jub there, didn't we? The fs2000terraintextures.doc probably should have never been included. Now we know that Laura Hamilton edited that doc, but the final version (which is also included) would have been enough, since we get it in stereo already (also included in the Terrain SDK). :-xxrotflmaoAnd please where is the terraindll.dll ?!? :-mad How is the tmfviewer supposed to work…

I was already starting a photoreal ground layout using FS Terrain Calculator and FS2000 resampler. So Now I thought to recompile the layout with the new 2002 resampler but the results gave a black border around my photoreal layout. It used to fit perfectly in the LOD without any problem now I see some black all around. MS mentions in the document that its better to use 4 points Lat and Long to make it fit. In my situation I use 1 x,y point with 1 Long Lat reference and the m/pixels resolution and FS Terrain Calculator make the rest of the adjustement to cover the area. With the new resampler it seems different? Also the new resampler seems excluding BGLs object I compiled w…

With the release of new highres Meshes, like the Terramesh ones, there is a "secondary efect" to the scneries. The mountains look pretty well, but the rivers and the roads many times have "absurd" and ilogical tracing, like rivers flowing over the high peaks or counter the gravity, or so on.Does anybody know some tip or software to correct this issue? Maybe with the Landclass packages?I think the perfect tool would be some like the AFCAD. An dedicated tool only to trace the rivers and roads "point to point", in real time, something that AFCAD does pretty wlel with Parking Zones, taxiways, runways, etc...If a "guru" of Software were able to program this tool, I think the Fl…

Hi everyone,I am currently designing the scenery for Malta International Airport, an I have a few questions that I'd like to ask...1. When constructing an object in gmax and it consists of several parts, does it improve frame-rate if you attach all the parts of the object together, or doesn't it make any difference if you leave all the parts as separate objects?2. When saving bmp texture files, what is the difference between dxt1 and dxt3?3. What happens exactly when creating mip-maps (using Image Tool), and what is the effect on FS?Thanks and regards to all,Daniel

I just did my first reflective textured building with gmax. I wanted to reproduce the shiny glass effect you get when the sun shines on a glass building.I found that the reflective alpha channel doesn't make your texture reflective, but rather blends a grey reflective (metallic) colour over the opaque texture. If you use a low alpha value (lots of reflection) you end up with a chunk of iron/silver with a faint look of your texture. So, you are limited to a high alpha value, which doesn't give much reflectivity. All I get now is that the building looks a bit brighter when I get closer, but that's all. In the end all I could do is just brighten up the texture, and I don't g…
