From the gist of the readme file that comes with Terrascene and discussions in the large post by Dick Ludowise below, I cannot use terrascene without having a copy of Fly! or Fly!2. Am I correct? How about Fly!2K?If so, then there is a fly in my terrain soup!

Hi all,When I make a textured polygone, the upperleft corner of the texture is aligned in the CENTER of the polygone. (I'm using Airport for Windows) Of course I can shift the 4 sections of my texture, but I think there must be a different method: when I look at other scenery bmp-files I notice normal (not shifted) textures.Can anyone help me with this??Thanx heaps!Nick

Hi all.Waterclass may be changed just like Landclass. It requires a RAW sourcefile, and uses value #254 as transparent. My LandCalc programs will give the coordinates and other INF info for a 257x257 sourcefile.The values for water are found in the "Terrain Texture Naming Convention" document of the FS2002 Terrain SDKs.If you look at in the scenedbtexture folder, you'll see some BMPs named like the land textures, but they have a 'w' in the name. These are the water textures, and the first 3 numbers of the name ID that texture for a WaterClass BGL.The SDK also tells you the depth associated with a Waterclass assignment. I used airport to build a road at S45.0 W45.0 location that airport tutorial uses. I already had an island at this location. The only thing in the new airport file was a road. I took the SCASM (road.sca) and used Scm2vtp to convert it to Output.asm.I then used BGLC.exe to compile the road. I placed the road in my fs2002scenedbcitiesairportScenery folder. I started fs2002 and used a saved flight to yonder (island) location. NO NEW ROAD!I then opened the fs2002scenedbcitiesairportScenery folder and renamed my island *.bgl, so fs2002 wouldn't use it. I restarted fs2002, selected the flight, and there on the ocean is the road.My general question is what am I going to u…

Hey guys,I need your input!! Palm Beach International, tried landing their tonight and up to about 6 or 7 miles on final, the frame rates drop to 1 FPS. Even when on the ground it ws the same. Oh yeah and this approach was at night! AI traffic turned off.Do you have any ideas as to what might cause it? Hi,Im having some problem with the Landcalc2 programI have filled one cell(point 94 - 56) with 4 textures, but when i move to the Next cell ( east ) (point 95 - 56)the textures will not fit, the only texture showing i the one who should be in the NW corner, but now it is showing at the SW corner the rest of the cell is grey. The cells are lined up next to each other. The first cell i made shows perfectLandcalc shows the 95 - 56 points and gives me the texture names, but when i have resampled and renamed the textures only one texture is showing. I also tryed to move to (96 - 56) just to see if that made any difference Is there any way to find the middle of the lod 13 cell.…

As an Indianapolis resident i would love to find a realistic version on Indianapolis International with the new fed-ex hubs, US Air Maitenence terminals, as well as the new terminal under construction between the main runways.Thanks in advance for your response.

I have recently looked at landclass assistant by John Cillis, to see if it would provide a simple method to help with a different task. I'm continuing to explore methods of blending 3rd party photoscenery into the default.It's downright seemless when you get the right default texture added to the edge of your own, but its pretty painful to find the right one. Has anyone figured out how to select a given raw x/raw y value and have the default landclass assignment reported as output?Bob Bernstein

Having created low polygon gmax model of an aircraft, I need to use the same gmax model with several different airline textures in the same scenery. Could someone help with this question of applying different textures onto the same model without applying uvw mapping every time? Letats

Finally! And thanks to Bob Bernstein's excellent examples on how to exclude a sinlge object. It took me a few times to get it right, but now I can exclude the gawd awful terminal at KAZO, and start building the new one.Thanks again Bob.Dave/KAZO

Hi all,I'm trying to make a scenery with photoreal textures. I'm using the resampler. In the output of the resampler, I get the sliced files with the long names (eg 011223202002031.bmp) and a bgl, but in FS I get in the responding area only a grey area instead of the photoreal textures. The only difference to the sample .inf files (niagara) is that I use multiple source files. Does anybody has a suggestion for this problem?Christoph

Dear friends,Now I am deep into it!! (or at least I think I am! :) )Here is the question!I am not sure I understood the point of having a LWMPol filled with land. Let's assume the following.We are in the middle of the sea. I want to put a small island that fits inside one area of a cell. I know that I have to assign a landclass for this place otherwise I will never get land there. So, the first thing to do is to get some land there. At this point, I test that I have in fact land there and if a square of land shows up I am happy.Next step would be to cut the land to show up water. I would like to be able to view the airfield photos, but cannot login because I do not have a CapID.I also tried about a year ago, but ran into the same problem. Hi all.Spent the afternoon playing with Terrascene 2.1...What a fun program! It can be used with FS2002. The only drawback is the textures, and I can derive a batch file that should import FS2002 textures to the terrascene system.The result is not photoreal, but it is ready for CUSTOM processing. I got to the point where I could process an LOD8 Cell in about 45 minutes... from internet download to flying the scenery! 1024 custom textures!The detail of roads, streams, lakes, city streets! I can easily navigate my home area, spotting familiar roads, streams, streets. The crude pic below shows it's output using solid colors, and no alpha. Tomorrow, I'll work on the textures,…

I've been working with AI traffic and AFCAD layers for a while and now I want to develop some airport design skills. Specifically, I want to tweak and modify an existing file which is a terminal add-on for KDEN. No runways or roads or anything like that...just a terminal, ramp, and such. The first problem is that something is wrong with the existing file. It has jetways that overlap each. I don't know why. The second problem is that I don't have the foggiest idea how to fix it. I am playing with reading navaid BGL's via the FS2000 SDK. I have pretty well got them out, however I am wondering about the significance of breaking the lat and long values into "lathi/latlo", more importantly, what info is the hi-8 bits of lathi (and lonhi) giving? ThanksDave

Greetings AllI have been designing scenery since FS98, and have not come across this problem before. I was hoping I may be able to get some assistance. I have begun work on Oakland Int'l CA. Have a look at the screenshot below. I have created and exclude entry, and everything default is excluded, EXCEPT, for reasons unknown to me, the taxiways, and a couple of hangars on the north side of the field. Refer to the screenshot below.I have never come across this before. Dear friends,I am having difficulty with the wave effects showing over land classification derived custom textures.What I mean by this is that a set of photo tiles were created using resample with a photograph as a source file. The portions where there is water were assigned transparency.The bgl that calls these photo tiles was created using a land classification source file where land portions where given class # 253 and water portions away from the coastline class # 254.The advantage of this approach is that it solves the problem of redesigning the coastlines. These are defined in the photo tiles themselves.But now, what I need is to add the wave effects to the coastlin…

I'm not sure how, but I have found a little extra time. I purchased world airports and this got me thinking about making some of the smaller airports more realistic. I would appreciate some advice on what programs to purchase to do this. I.E add hangers static equiptment and maybe later some animation. I would be doing this on a seperate system and then copying over to my main fs2k2 program.Thanks in advance.

Hi,The area I am attempting to model is going to require a substantial amount of coast remeshing, so to make the task slightly easier I wrote a small program.To use it I take a screen shot of an area with cellgrid and load this into the program. I can then draw up to 16 polys, with up to 16 points each and then the program generates the code that I paste into my autoasm document.The problem is the corner of the area does not seem to match the cellgrid coordinates. Hi everybody ... here are two screenshots of CYTZ (Toronto City Centre Airport). I am very much an amateur, but just wanted to post some shots to get some feedback.A bit about CYTZ ... CYTZ is located right in the heart of Toronto (Canada's largest city). The airport is situated on an island which provides service for general aviation as well as regional commuter flights.
