I have seen a lot of discussion regarding placement of photo based textures in scenery. Is there a tool to do this that does not involve programming skills? I have a single 1024 x 1024 texture based on aerials that I want to underlay an airport. I can do it fine with FS Architect but have trouble with Gerrish's tree macros in that program. Can I place a phototexture in Airport for Windows or FS Scenery Designer? Thanks for any suggestions.

Hi everyone,First a big thank you to Arno and his excellent tutorial on using a radio frequency to control an animation, I am no programmer but just by following his directions and sample files I am ALMOST there...The problem is the second hanger door! I started simply with one door and after a couple of false starts (mostly typos which resulted in some rather interesting door movements) I have the right door working. Arno mentions that it is just a matter of creating a second table for the other object and I can do that and called it anim_2, but if you simply repeat all the code for the second door BGLC gives all kinds of errors. I am sure the solution is either puttin…

Hi Scenery Designers,Forgive my intrusion into an "expert" board, but I came across the following link the other day.http://www.maproom.psu.edu/dcw/Where you can extract road/rail point information for many countries in the world. Does anyone have any views on this data? Is it accurate enough?I would quite like to build a rail network for FS2002

I've recently started experimenting with custom terrain textures. A problem I have is how do I calculate the numbers for the "CellXdimensionDeg and CellYdimensionDeg"? I know everything else about my image. I know the Latitude and Longitude of the Northwest corner of the image, I know the width and height in pixels of the image, plus the meters per pixel of the image. So is there maybe a math formula to that can help me figure this out?

Is it possible to make landing lights in FSDS2 as in GMAX? In GMAX the landing light option can be used to make light effects in scenery, but is this feature also included in FSDS2, and if, then where and how?

Hi guysI have searched the archive on this forum, regarding the subject of the above, with very liitle subjects, 3 no.I need a Seneca V static Aircraft for my scenery design, so I can recreate N95D of Peter sidoli fame for my scenery at Welshpool.I am currently struggling to create my own in FSDS V1.6, for output to *.scm/sca file. My concern is, with having to learn lots of new skills in creating aircraft in FSDS, is the likely created macro, even if included in a library file, likely to be costly on frame rates.I have already ran in to a problem in outputting to *.scm, "Line buffer (20478) Overflow, line 47/488 truncated ! Only able to locate to a specific part, fuselag…

Can anyone direct me to a source for basic scenery design? I would like to create my local airport for FS2002 and Im not sure where to start. I am familiar with using GMAX, but Im not sure how to work with the scenery files in MS2002. Questions...Is it possible to work with or edit default MSFS2002 scenery or must every creation be from scratch and placed over the default? I would like to alter an existing airport (KBHB). Any help pointing me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated. Working with GMAX seems to be straight forward, but I want to make sure my creating will make it to FS2002 before I invest too much time.

I mostly read the panel and aircraft design forum. I am guessing that a lot of you seldom read the panel and aircraft forum. With that in mind, being a new FSDSV2 user, I would like to make you aware of the following. It is exactly as the title reads. Visit the vatsim library and download for aid in enhancing the virtual cockpit of your Ga aircraft or place on the counter of your new airport lounge.Need an additional title? direct me to the source and we will print one up for your if you are unable to do it. wink-wink!Share you work and we will all have a lot more time to develop new and even more detailed aircraft/scenery in this hobby. All of my creations will come wi…

I've just started using FSSC to build scenery - my first project is a pair of small airports that 2k2 left out of British Columbia - and I've got a couple of questions that I can't find answers for...Can you re-compile/combine multiple bgls into one larger bgl? FSSC insists on producing a seperate bgl for each exclude area in your scenery, and I'd love to be able to simplify things by running the exclude-bgls in with the main scenery bgl. Is this possible?A related question: I haven't had a really good look at the scenery SDKs for 2k2, but it looks like you can use default objects like the live windsock in custom scenery somehow - can this be done inside FSSC, or should I…

I did a search on this forum for how to make API's from GMAX but I wasn't able to find anything that was comprehensive and really explained in detail how to do this.I found scattered references to Middleman and FSRegen but I have no idea how they work together. Can someone guide me with simple step by step instructions on how this is done? Also, I created a tug with Gmax and I wanted to make the wheels using just a plane. The wheels should look round so i intended to make the area outside the tire transparent. Is this accomplished simply by adding an alpha channel to a DXT1/3 BMP?Thanks again,Enrique

Hi,I am wondering if there is any freeware utility that can load BMPs DXT1 or DXT3 converted in imagetool and that can resize them directly? In imagetool we cant resize a BMP directly so we have to convert it back to tga and to go to a paint program , resize it and them reconvert it in imagetool to the format we want with the mip maps etc...ThanksMichel

Hey y'all!Just needed clarrification on the exact purpose for exclude switches. I am using some old scenery (A2K v1) and am curious as to whether or not an exclude line will fix texture bleed thru. I tried to add one for Nice, but it didn't seem to do anything. Of course, I may have done it incorrectly tho. Any help? Thanks in advance!-drew

Hi,Does anyone know of a program to extract Airport details runways ils's etc and save it all to a txt file??I need something to package with a program I am writing to make a database on the users computer that my program can use. Obviously a bgl extractor or something would let my program use whatever scenery the user had installed and not just the generic dataThanksGraham

Could not find in previous posts. Is there a way to make rotate.sdl macro available now? You know, that one when the poly is always facing the aircraft or the viewer.Any help would be appreciated.Ted

Hi All I am just about to release my first Freeware Scenery and included in my files are, EURNWNDB.BGL, EURNWVOR.BGL and F5406331.bgl.I understand that redistribution of these files may involve in Microsoft copyright infridgement.I believe that Afd files are responsible for navaid data displayed on the map in FS2002 and Airport Facility Information. In any case, I needed to modify the Navaid info in the above files. Can anybody verify this situation or cast some light on it.Any help appreciated.Regards Dave

hi, allI have a strange problem ,i am working on an Island in brittany (france) I work with FsMesh(nice tool) and sdk's tools for textures ;well the texture replace the existing island with no problem, the knew one as you can suppose is more detailed and situated more precisely, this mean that that they are not totaly superposed.when i input the mesh in FS2002 it works fine but it seems to enclosed in original coastline. I mean all the mesh points outside the original shore are not visible. The effect is that the mesh seems to be sometimes cut with a knife.I have tried a lot of thing put water textures first to cover these shores with the fslandclass country pack , it le…

Joe Watson and I have uploaded our first large area landclass files. They cover the entire state of Florida. I converted the National Landcover Database Files for the State to appropriate FS texture assignments and then Joe and I hand edited all of the state to bring the urban areas up to present day conditions. Look for flscenes.zip in the file library. Enjoy! Bob Brown and Joe Watson

Hi,It's been almost a year since the first time I used 3-dimensional approach lights with poles, taxiway lights/poles and runway end, side lights/poles. However, since that I haven't been able to figure out some of the problems I've had from the start. First I'd like to know if there is a way to edit the scasm code (objects made in FSDS) to make the lights (light.beacon.x) shine "longer" than they do now. Now they are visible some kilometres only, while I'd like them to have the same visibility as the lights on default FS2002 airports. Is that possible??? My next question is also regarding the same lights - is there any possibility to add such a coding in SCASM that makes…

I started to make a small airport with taxilights. I used a gmax triangle object and I used the light_nav material. I can see the light at night but I also see it in the day. Can I turn it off in the day so it is only seen at night?Thank youBill

Hello all! I am new to scenery design. I have been messing around with AFW 2.6 B157 for the past few days. Right now what is getting to me is the whole taxiway/taxiline thing. I think that i have searched the internet 3 times over looking for information to make my stuff work. This is what I am running into.1.) If i use the 'create taxiway' function and tell it to make a centerline and also do night lighting what i find is that the centerline is very thin and faint....excecially over longer distances. I have tried to segment the taxiway into smaller segments and that helped out somewhat but i was still not happy with the results. and if you segment it too much it starts m…
