I've created an object in gmax, and i've noticed that one of the faces consists of many small polys. I would like to remove the grid of small polys and convert it into just the one poly, is there anyway of achieving this because obviously it will save fps?Many thanksWill

Hi, In my hometown a lake is at wrong place and the shape is totally wrong. I would like to recreate this one and also add a new one. I start with 5802.jpg and ended up in 5803.jpg with a bad lake.There must be a right order to do things. and what is the right order.As you see I first create a polygon around the old lake and filled with land and that works well. When I create a new polygon covering parts of the old lake I don't get water in the whole lake. HiI have created a new airport, ERCAN Airport in Cyprus (LCEN) that was not included in FS2002. I have used the airport software. I should be able to upload it shortly for everyone to enjoy a visit to the sunny island of Cyprus, but I need information and guidance to configure the FS so that the ATC recognise this new airport and the aircraft can communicate with the tower, aproach and ground etc.Could anyone help? I would appreciate for your helpLetats

I have a problem and hope someone can help me out. I am running FS 2002 Pro and have over 150 different aircraft. I have a strange situation with two of my AC. These are a weathered Cessna 182RG and the Mooney Bravo. When I enter FS and select one of these two AC, a box comes up immediately saying that:

Hi allCan anybody tell me what the upper limit is for adding, Addon sceneries to FS2k2...I have around 400 installed, but now find they off the loop as I add any more...is there a work around for this.CheersGus

I came across this while doing some investigating of a *.bgl file. In an attempt to compile a revised *.sca file with SCASM 2.88 and in a DOS prompt, I kept getting an error message with respect to the line(s) describing a *.bmp file being applied. In order to get rid of the error message, I found I had to shorten the name of the *.bmp to 8 characters. Is this a restriction inherent with Scasm? BTW, the line used the older style of text; that is, Bitmap(..... etc. ) rather than the later style usually employed which resembles this: LoadBitmap(.......etc.). Could this make a difference?

I have three seperate textures to apply to one cube. One for two walls, one for the other two walls, and one for the roof. Using standard materials for different polygons achieved my goal in GMAX, but when I export, the building is gray... no texture anywhere. (I was careful to make sure that my textures were in the appropriate folder and named correctly.)Should I be using a "Multi-material" in this situation? If not, what could be causing my texture woes?

If it is possible to inlay a custom texture in Ground2k (as the documentation says) wouldn't it be possible to produce a standard series of 43K photoreal textures ( via Terrabuilder, for example) then go back to Ground2k and inlay each of those "custom" textures" in Ground2k?.............This would permit the combining of a large area of photoreal textures in some areas, along with the drawing features where photorealistic textures are not available?Got my fingers crossed..................Rhumbaflappy?....make my day!

Hello,I am rather new with SCdesign.. my troubles are following..:unable to make one big API that would load many textures on different positions (like a chess board).. I need it for my GND sector.. When I do get my hands on some API that does that, I encounter problems like: individual fields disappearing, whole API disapperaing (but only when A/C turned to a certain direction)I got to know that all this may be solved using new tech VTP ground texture polygons and commands.. As I hear problem is in max resolution available..CAN SOMEOME HELP ME PLEEEEEASE !!! I need either a program, APImaker, something which will anable me to stick my (already done and waiting) textures…

I was trying to add some roads to my town and can get them on FS20002, but they fade out and get smaller as they get closer to the beginning point. I also would like to know if there is a way to prevent the Auto-gen scenery from disappearing everytime i load my scenery. Thanks

Attached are 2 shots of Salt Lake showing the salt flats I am "trying" to create from Terraserver black & white images. FS2002's rendition of this area was very poor. I had used Terrascene & Terrabuilder to create a more real-to-life scenery but Terrascene's lack of texture blending put me off.There are several adjusting items involved here - Landclass, Coastline, Landfill, Lake Shore, Elevation, Excludes. There were some anomolies in doing the coastline (some remain). A LOD13 square may have to be filled with a Landclass although it is not touching a Coastline.Although not shown, positioning roads (and excluding old roads) makes them appear in proper relationship…

Hello all,Long time... Limited free time keeps me away from scenery design.I have another hard question for you. How do I make a library out of APIs and how do I access the library objects from within SCASM or Airport for windows? I have a lot of 3D objects in my designs that are practically the same just repeating and I thought that if I make them library objects FS would load them only once istof 40-50 times it does now.Any (detailed, for dummies) help appreciated!Thanks!George DorkofikisAthens, Greece

Hi!I recognized that, when I use SetScaleX in a macro, that whole partsof the autogen surrounding the macro are deactivated. I don't know ifthis is really due to the SetScaleX.Did anyone make the same experience?Best regardsSasa

Hi,Just some ligher discussion here in between the raw code, brain-wrinkling topics were used to here. :)I came to think of that scenery designers in many cases do all lot of job by themselves, work that vary a lot from task to task. It's not common to have several designers in a team, among which the different kind of tasks are divided, one take care of the painting part, another of the coding etc. etc. Yes, there are examples of this existing as well, but mostly a scenery designer is a lonely wolf tinkering with his own little scenery all by himself.Why not compare a scenery designer to an aircraft designer (FS). Hi everyoneI've made some objects in FSDS2 that are pilot controlled. I know the theory by which this works, but I can't put into practice. I created a new display condition in FSDS2, which uses the variable "adf_freq" and specified it to be in range of 0 to 4000, which displayed the object if the ADF frequency was less than 1000. This worked fine.If i set the variable in the range of 0-500, the frequency needs to be less than 200. That worked too. But I don't seem to be able to specify an intermediate range of frequencies, such as 200-1000. If I put in 500-4000 for the range of the variable, the object doesn't appear at all, not matter what frequency I have. Does anyone …

I imported 3ds model to gmax...but some polygons are visible and others are not. I found that the reason is polygon's normal property(in this forum. :-)) I have to flip invisible polygons to make visible.But my 3ds model has too many polygons so I can't flip polygonsone by one. How can I flip invible polygons?I used double sided texture but it didn't work. :-(

Does anyone have a macro of a PAPI lighting system in their toolbox? I've been building an airport and I decided that the 4 "dots" that you usually get at a runway just aren't good enough anymore. I want a 3-D object that actually works.I've tried building it myself, but I haven't been happy with my own work. I got stuck with gmax over the weekend. Luckily, I decided that what I wanted to try didn't give me what I wanted anyway, so it didn't matter in the end, but I still would be interested in a solution...I made a building and in the front the door was set back by half a metre or so (so there is a small doorway). So I wanted to adjust the geometry. What I did is use a few cut commands and inserted a few vertices and placed the vertices where I wanted them. Then I put a texture onto the thing and put a uvw unwrap modifier on top. The problem I had was that my polygons were glued together. I needed to select the sides individually, but instead the door, and the two 'walls' to …

Hi all, I am very pleased to announce that I have already finished the 1st part of my project for the complete design of scenery for EL Dorado Intl Airport SKBO. It is designed in Gmax, and also some things are done in SCASM and FSSC.The first part includes the main terminal, with custom made Textures, (my specialty) and a very detailed structure...Tonight I will post a couple of screenshots... I have installed ground2k but when I try to start the program I get the following error message: Component 'COMDLG32.OCX' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid...can anyone suggest how I might be able to fix this?regardsdaryl
