Hey guys, another question. How do you get new scenery made with fssc or xml to show up in the airport lists? I've got them to show up in the map and the GPS but not in the menu. Without them in the menu you can't set up a IFR flight plan to or from them! Lame!

I am the designer of the San Diego VFR scenery added to the library here on 4/1. I was just wondering if there are any other scenery designers that work in XML here. If so, lets talk, maybe we can learn something from each other. Thanks!

I am migrating from FSDS to GMAX. I've got GMAX installed and have been through the SDK tutorial and am beginning to grasp the fundamentals of object design. What I haven't grasped yet is the movement from GMAX object to FS9 recognition and display of same object. In accordance with documentation I read, MakeMDL is installed and then Middleman on top of that according to appropriate docs. I can produce the MDL file but in FSREGEN I am looking for a .ASM file. What is this and where does this fit in with the MDL file I produced earlier? Once I get the various utilities coordinated and working together, I'll be off and running. All help is much appreciated.Mike Eppri…

Hi all,I believe there is both a market and a requirement for scenery design software on a level that is a good deal more sophisticated than the amazingly excellent but necessarily limited freeware tools available at this time. The functionality I would want to see in such a program would include: - Support for everything in the FS2004 SDKs (present and future ones), plus for anything required to make the stuff in those SDK's work properly (i.e., filling in the blanks that MS left for us to sort out). - The ability to use one tool for object placement (library objects), building generation ("Generic Buildings", including texture browser etc), airport design (all that i…

Hello,I didn't find any information about visiblity distances for objects in the latest BGLComp SDK. The default visibility of the library objects seems to be around 60 km, which is really too much.Is there somebody who knows how to set a limitation of the visibility?ThxSasa

Hi,I've got a real problem with my scenery. The problem is that FS2004 crashes after 20-30 minutes flying accross the area. Always at different locations and with and without GPS.We used FS2002-landclasses, SCASM-code with the new LoadBitmap-command, Ground2k, FS2002-meshes etc.Has anyone ideas where to search for the bug? Could it be a storage problem?ThxSasa

Hi,I would like to change MDL options when exporting from gmax. But when I export the dialog doesn't stay up and waits for me to confirm the settings, it just exports right away.Is there a way to force it to wait for me to change the settings before exporting ?Thanks,Matthias

Hi,I've created new scenery for one airport, and I've edited the original taxiways of the airport a little. But my question is: how can I exclude those original taxiways without excluding the other visual scenery of the airport? I read somewhere that by excluding the reference point of the taxiway you can remove the whole taxiway. Is that true? If it is, how am I able to find the reference point of the taxiways?

Hello friends,I'm trying to write VTP and LWM source data from 'first principles'. I am comfortable programming in C and other scripts so I thought why not use such knowledge to program terrain data automatically - the problem is that I have managed to understand how to code LWMs (the terrain SDK for fs02 didn't help much - what REALLY helped was Rhumbaflappy's tutorial!) but I am finding VTP hard mostly cause there are texture issues! Can anyone point me to some reference regarding VTP data. Obviously, i'm using rhumbaflappy's include files.CheersStorm

Sorry about all my questions but it seems everytime I figure something out I run into a new, unexpected problem. This time I am wondering how the refuel/repair sections are stored. When I read the trigger types for refuel/repair from the scenery object section in the bgl files I only find about 1800 or so. Where are the other tens of thousands ?Is there another way to create refuel/repair boxes instead of the scnery object trigger type ?As always, even the smallest hint or pointer is greatly appreciated !Matthias

Can I replace this texture locally?thanks@-@

Is FS2000/2002 Mesh compatible w/FS 2004? I have a CD full of mesh I gathered for FS2002 and would like to install it in FS2004. Will that work, or are they incompatible?

I downloaded this scenery. There is no readme with it and I am not sure where to put it. Do I put it in the main scenery file or the add on or neither? What does SRTM stand for anyway? I imagine the tm is for terra mesh but the sr is????? Is this supposed to be photo realistic? I would like some info on it.Don

I'd like to make a couple of changes to my local airport (NY0). It's missing the diner and the fuel pumps are on the wrong side of the hangar. Is there a utility that allows changes like these? I downloaded the FS Enhance demo from Lago but could not get it to work. Everytime I attempted to do anything my computer would freeze up tight and require a reset. If there's no such utility, I'd settle for the idiot's guide to FS Enhance. :)Thanks, Jim

I have another BGL format question. It appears the BGLs containing scenery start with 0201h, so the format is different fromt the terrain BGLs which start with 0001h. Is there a format description for these files with the 0201h header ?All I need to know really is where the scenery is located and the approximate coverage area. I kinda need the same info for airports.I guess I expected there to be more info available on all that stuff.Anyway, thanks for any hints.Matthias

I've been experimenting with sticking some FS9-style XML-generated windsocks in my scenery, and although the process does render a working windsock, it's so crappy looking that I hesitate to use it in a project. The problem is the pole -- instead of being a nice stick-looking affair, it looks like two fairly large rectangles crossed in the same fashion as we use for making trees. See the picture below for more clarity. Are the rest of you getting this kind of look? My first thought was that maybe I was missing a pole texture, but I kind of doubt that textures would even be needed if the polys were thinner. Thoughts?http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/69525.jpgthanks,

I've started playing with Ground2K for FS2k2 (ver 3.04). I've made progress but am having some basic problems. My project is to redo the coastline at Pearl Harbor HI. This area consists of a bay with an island in the center of it. Most of the coastline I'm working on at present is over water in the default. I tried first using poly with shore, but I'm having trouble with compiling failure due to crossing lines. So first I tried it with Line (shore) that seemed to work, so now I have it defined as Coastline (land right). Next I need to get land defined behind my coast. So I thought best to use Poly LWM with "land" selected. My assumption is that this would cause land…
