    Is there any way to export a gmax object in a way that it always faces the user in the game ? I would like to build these cardboard stand-up type people and objects for my scenery without having to use 1,000,000 polygons for one person.Thanks for any suggestions!Matthias

Hello,I was just wondering how some people get it to run the old FS2002 make MDL for Gmax in coexistance with the new one.I tried to install the FS2002 MakeMDL afterwards and followed the instructions as mentioned in the file "Installing the FS2004 Gmax SDK over the FS2002 Gmax SDK.rtf" that came with the FS2004 Gmax SDK.Everything works fine so far. Gmax starts with the title "FS2002 Gamepack" when I use the new ink-shortcut. But the BGL file type doesn't show up when I click "File -> Export". (???)Thanks for your helpSasa

    I have posted this question two different times, I am sure someone knows the answer!The default Name North America East for the most part is LOD 5, Howener the BR9name is much larger.     Another newbie question, no doubt dumb. I've got Holger's Jasper Park (Canada) color sat photo showing in my G2K4 window.I see no FS2K4 default scenery. Nor do I see the improved scenery I loaded earlier into my FS2K4 ("Cordillera Canada: Enhanced Terrain" from FSGenesis). I thought I would see one or the other, superimposed with the sat photo image. So I also don't see any of the default roads, rivers, lakes, etc. So I can't exclude them.1) Why don't I see any FS2K4 default scenery? I have tried the FS library object one and it doesn`t seeem to work properly.Please help me.     I've had FSDS since 2000, but until the past 2 days, never used it in a practcal sense beyond doing the tutorials that came with it.In attempting to make an object for FS9, the object displays fine except that it follows the viewing point around, as well as the elevation! In other words, it behaves as though coded to rotate to aircraft yet no such code is written! Comparing the code to other *.api's that I have made with EOD for example, doesn't indicate anything which should be causing this to occur.Has this been observed before, and if so, is there a fix....besides doing a crash course on Gmax??

    I have been experimenting with effects and for some reason some type of effects work fine and some don't show up at all.I know there is supposed to be smoke coming out of the factories, but not on my machine, no matter what settings I try. But the engine start smoke, smoke trail, etc. work fine.I compiled a few bgls with effects. fx_steam1.fx for example works fine but fx_SmokeStack.fx or fx_SmokeStack2.fx does nothing.Does anyone have any experience what causes effects not to show up at all ?Thanks,Matthias

  9. Well I've tried colouring black and white satellite photos to use in FS but I'm disappointed with my efforts. They look too much like poor paintings rather than photographic scenery. I've been using Paint Shop and Photo Shop evaluation products. My method is by using several layers of different colours and varying the pixel something or other (!). I'm no expert with this sort of thing so I hope people know what I'm talking about!!!However, as far as I can see, unless you're an artist, I can't see how only using 3 or 4 colours can hope to truely represent the real world. Shouoldn't I be using 10 or more even in rural areas? However, the more layers the more time needed.Am …

    Hi all (at least those with Ground2k4 experience),I'm currently at work with the southern half of teh Willamette Valley, Oregon. So far I have all teh railroads within my image area finished, as well as the Willamette River from Corvallis to Salem (as polygons).Sometimes I wonder if I should use seperate projects to keep roads and railroads and water in seperate bgls.... but tht's not my question.When doing the excludes, should I blanket the entire image area, or just those sqares that contain data I want excluded?     Hi all!!New to the Scenery Design community here. Would like some help with the following issue. I've been designing a ficticious airport and some major buildings/scenery around my home area. I've put two hangers on an apron; one is completely lit up at night, and the other is not. Both macros were created using the latest verion of Nova, and I used Nova's default bitmaps on both of them.   17. HiHave just modified an AFCAD 2 file for a small addon microlight strip located in South Devon UK (Halwell near Dartmouth). Despite making taxiways and parking for AI aircraft and including new airport/aircraft/flightplan info the AI aircraft I choose do not appear:-(Could this be because I need to modify their AIRFILES to make them use the new shorter strip?     G'Day everyone.I finally bit the bullet and decided to try out scenery design. Ive made a simple building in GMAX v1.2When I go to export it. I get a error message saying that the model isnt specified in meters but the model will be made into meters (or something along those lines).As far as I knew. You had to go to Customize/ Units setup/Metric Meters...thats what mine is checked on... but it stil says it isnt in meters.Does anyone know what Im doing wrong here?Cheers,Ryan

    Hi ThereI`m a newbie to FS scenery design I can just about cope with Airport and FSSC. However, I am really struggling with the following: I have used the exclude facility within FSSC to get rid of the default airfield but I am stuck with the ugly default grass pad which I would like to remove.     Hi everyone, I'm experimenting with a new method with AutoAsm. I define a lake as a water polygon in the usual way. If there is an island the polygon is defined as land and so on. The island polygon will always appear later than the water polygon in the ASM file. This works fine. If I set the island to a different elevation then that works fine. However, by definition the island is flat, which is extremely boring. The obvious solution is to define the island as -9999. It seems that -9999 works for land polygons as well as water polygons.
