I Was trying to Learn XML so I can make an Overhead PanelFor a 747-400 in FSX. I was thinking of making the gauge for When like you are at an airport and you are hooked up with a generatorcart and have power applied to the aircraft. The 747 needs 2 cartsand to have power available before you turn the power switch on. I was thinking that if you are parked at a parking spot with a Jetway, thenhave the XML code ask is TOGGLE_JETWAY hooked up true or false like an if then Else statement then have power Available on the Overhead panel.Then Now you have power applied to the Aircraft. Up until a few compiler runs ago (few = haven't a clue how many) the panel I'm developing worked equally well in both FS9 and FSX. Now in FSX I get an outside view that is obviously part of a gauge bitmap and many other instruments appear to be loading bitmaps out of order. The top resource number is in the low 31Ks; I recall Bill saying something about 40K being the 'night' bitmap boundary. I'm not using standard bitmaps but using the trick of defining the panel background as part of a gauge, so the panel bitmaps are RGB 0,0,0.I'm using VS2003 and compiling a release version set to Multithreaded DLL. I tried setting it to /MT (as per Patrick's problem with Vista64) but …

HiI'd like to use some commercial third party gauges in my aircrafts.Putting them into the 2d panel is straightforward, as far as they use to include some tool for this. Anyway, by using FS Panel Studio it's piece of cake to get this done.But inserting the gauges into the Virtual Cockpit panel seems to be a rather different subject. I've seen that the panel.cfg files include some section related to VCs and the gauges in it, but I'm not rather sure how to get this done.Can anybody please give me some hint/advice about this?Thanks in advance,JAMM

I am working on a Boeing 720 package using a maintenence manual I have.I am very new to modeling and have been doing a few repaints.I have already started on the fuselauge using the specifacations in the manual and I am going t attempt a VC with full cabin and moving parts. (dont expect to see this very soon in the library ;-) )I have no clue whatsoever on what im supposed to be doing for the flight dynamics. It would be a great help if someone could tell me the numbers to put into fsedit or give me the flight dynamics of a .cfg. Hi,For personal use I'd like to add the working fuel cut off gauge from the FS9 default C-172 VC to the Flight1 Cessna C-172R VC. I've followed Engauged's tutorial for adding alpha channels to bitmaps using Imagetool and Photoshop, but whenever I run a psd conversion in Imagetool, it comes back with a nice little bitmap complaining about unconverted layers in the psd. The psd file has two layers in it; the basic bitmap layer is the lowest layer and the required alpha channel is the one above. Colour depth is 24-bit and I'm using PhotoshopCS; has anyone any idea where I'm making a mess of this?Thank you.-Dai

Firstly, I would like to apologise for posting a question under the XML FAQ thread. I did not see Mr leamings bold post at the time I posted my question, however when I did several days later, the system would not allow me to delete or edit the post.Secondly, If Mr Leaming has some admin authority on the forum, maybe he could delete the offending post and the others above it. Going through the sp2SDK i saw no mention made of damage textures,anyone know offhand if they still supported? Also while i have your attention during the use of the Shader Tooli had a number of sript errors show up in the SetupAcesRoot.ms.They varied and were progressivly diminished as i entered pathwaysinto the script editor , is there a bit more info to be had on the subject ? I am putting something of a tips thread on the use of these new tools together , used the verify and fix model on the export tools for 3DS8 yesterday along with the shader tool and i was delighted to see the Aces provided us with these and what appears like an easter egg, buried in the script was…

Hi all,My next technical challenge is cabin pressurization.I know I could do it in L:Variables, but I thought I'd like to crack Aces thinking and get the supplied variables a try.If I use (in XML) PRESSURIZATION_CLIMB_RATE_INC, I getPRESSURIZATION CABIN ALTITUDE RATE to work ok, but only with the aircraft off the ground.Also, PRESSURIZATION_PRESSURE_ALT_DEC does not want to changePRESSURIZATION CABIN ALTITUDE or PRESSURIZATION CABIN ALTITUDE GOAL.In the aircraft.cfg file I have[pressurization]design_cabin_pressure = 8000max_pressure_differential = 8.7I'm thinking this is required to switch the system on?Would someone kindly point me in the correct direction so I can get a…

Hi All!I'm trying to get rid of the autopilot from Captain Sim Legendary 707. Reason for this is because the autopilot is faulty and isn't the correct one for the 707. I've tried to edit the CS707 panel.cfg, but that doesn't help much, my new autopilot works just as bad as the original CS707 autopilot.Can anybody help me to get the faulty autopilot out of the 707, SP50, and put the correct one Bendix PB20 in? Greetings all, I am just about ready to release an ultralight that I have been working on for the past year, but I am plagued with a problem regarding the contact points. Using FSDS 3, I created oval shapes to place under each tire, selected the appropriate reference part, and made sure to check the box to generate reference parts before compiling the model. But the contact points are still way off no matter where I place the reference parts. The same issue occurs when trying to place the pilot's viewpoint in the VC. Any help here would be tremendously appreciated. Thanks,-Mike

I have installed a file from the Acceleration DVD called "SDK.exe" and when it installs it shows up at "Flight Simulator X: Acceleration Expansion Pack SDK." There is also an fsx_sdk_sp1a.exe file in the SDK folder. It seems that, once I go "SP2/Acceleration" there's no going back?What's the skinny? Any beta testers here who know?Thanks,J-

Hi all,I'm working on my first panel for FSX and have run into some quirky behaviour with a radio stack gauge I'm making which I'd really appreciate some help with. I'm using the following gauge string:%( (A:COM STANDBY FREQUENCY:1, MHz) 100 * 1 div 100 /)%!3.2f!...which works fine except when the frequency on the default radio stack reads XXX.20 mine reads XXX.19. Similarly for these values:Default MineXXX.45 XXX.44XXX.70 XXX.69XXX.95 XXX.94For all other values my readout is correct. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong?Many thanks,DD

Hi Guys,I am trying to get a simple XML gauge running which will display fuel quantity in Kilograms. I have the following so far;%((A:Fuel Tank Left Main Quantity,kilogram))%!4.1f!but it seems to be producing a figure of Litres/1000. So it looks like it is saying 2.7 when I have 2700litres.Is there a place I can find the list of operators that can be attend to convert results??? Or the correct string for Kg output.

Hi allI'm trying to get the N1 bug on an N1 tape type speed gauge to auto change to show the N1 limits for particulat conditions.I'm wondering if I can access the N1 tables (graphs) in the air file and access these with XML variables so the air file will auto set the N1 values for the blue bug???Would you have any idea.cheers,nick

Hi all.In FSX I want switch a fuel pump on with(A:GENERAL ENG FUEL PUMP ON:1, bool) ! if{ (>K:TOGGLE_ELECT_FUEL_PUMP1) } The 'A' variable is a switch to stop the fuel pump from continuously toggle on and off. However, the pump does toggle continuously. It's like the 'A' variable is not setting. So I'm thinking that there is not enough time for the pump to react and reset the 'A' variable.I introduced to slow things up a bit, and hey presto, the code now behaves itself and the pump just toggles once to 'on'.Does anyone have any learned comments?Should the Update be slowed down in general to give things a chance to work?cheers,nick
