For some very, very strange reason, FSX has suddenly started behaving very wierdly with respect to door commands...On every single aircraft - including the defaults! - the doors will open, then suddenly snap shut! ARGH!!! :-eek I've renamed the fsx.cfg file and let FSX build a new one... no change...I've recreated the default flight from scratch... no change...Anyone with fresh ideas?

Is it possible with the FSAPI? Even after loading a PNG file and then converting it to a BMP, would it then be possible to pass this through to an element macro

hi peoples, just wondering if anyone can help me.just downloaded some of the jet city aircraft dc9's and i must say what beautiful aircraft they are.with the dc9 15 you get an almost fully clickable virtual cockpit!but, the only bug i have now is that the trim wheel sensitivity is way too sensitive.one click and the aircraft piches greatly.i have tried adjusting the elevator trim effectiveness in the air cfg file but this seems to have little effect.am i messing with the wrong line?if anyone can help please let me know as its all good to look at the aircraft but i'm reluctant to fly it as it doesn't seem realistic.i also dont want to adjust sensitivity on my yoke as this wo…

Hi there,i'm currently working on a DC-8 Panel and I just started Gaugedesign and so i don't have much experience in the coding department anyway so i used some XML tutorials and looked at other XML gauges to get the basics... now i wanted to make a firebell-testswitch which turns on a light when you push it down and plays the sound of a bell...this is the code:(L:FIRE_BELL,bool)(L:FIRE_BELL,bool) ! (>L:FIRE_BELL,bool)now it works that the switch actiavtes the "FIRE" Light on the Flight Engineer panel which is simply a gauge which is only visible when L:FIRE_BELL is satisfied but the switch is a problem cause i can hold it down but after around 3 seconds it starts to g…

Hi,I was wondering if anyone knows if and how one could add mouse click zones on the exterior model of the aircraft. I was hoping on being able to use this for: opening doors, stowing the RAT etc. that kind of stuff. Thanks,Bj

This is so simple yet I can't find the answer anywhere, suggesting that it isn't possible, but I was wondering...Is there a way to use variables for X and Y positions? Something like(L:Xpos, Number)

Hi,Some of you on the forum may remind a previous post of mine about the new C++ framework I've created for the Airliner XP Airbus. Now that the Wx500 for FSX is released, and since it is using the framework for its gauges, I wanted to share with you a little about how it looks like to create a gauge. This is a very simple example, taken from the actual DropStack XP gauge. The idea of the framework is to have a C++ abstraction layer to the SDK, as well as to provide a number of helper methods always used in all gauges, like keyboard shortcuts, sound, etc... Furthermore, the idea was to have a framework that is fully C++, i.e. no static macros, no compiled data structures t…

Is it possible to determine the sunrise and sunset time at a specific location, for example an airport?I'm aware of this thread: http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...ing_type=searchI'm having trouble getting my head around adopting it to actually display the sunrise and sunset time.

Hi,Is it possible to store a text in a (L:something) variable likeMy Text (>L:something, string) for use in other gauges (displaying that "My Text" there)?I can't get it working, tried several units, worked with macros... I'm aware of an old thread here in the forum where it is said it's not possible at all - is that really true?If so, I'll probably have to transform every single charakter to an integer (and back) using the XML string operators symb, ord and chr. But to say the truth, I'm a bit lazy to write that routine - if there is a simplier solution.Any help more than welcome!Herbert

FlightPlanWaypointTimeZoneDeviation seems to give only the time zone deviation for the position you are currently in, no matter which waypoint is given. Is there another way to find the time zone of your destination airport for example?

Hi all,Does anybody know how to combine these 2 values and get the difference from them?(A:NAV1 radial, radians) (A:Plane heading degrees gyro, radians) - pi +(A:Plane heading degrees gyro, radians) /-/The first one is from actual radial being tracked by the NAV1.The second one is from the "rose" plate (card) that rotates with the heading on a RMI.I'm trying to find the difference in degrees from the actual radial being tracked and the actual course being flown. Thanks,Benny

Hi all,I searched but did not find the answer I am looking for. (Target is FS9, not FSX but I would like to apply it to FSX later). Will the program "FS Panel Studio" help me to reformat my panels for a 1920x1280 widescreen monitor? Or what other program may be suitable for this task? I have done one panel by hand and it was painful. I used MSPaint to resize the .bmp then adjusted all the locations/sizes of the gauges in panel.cfg and it looks quite nice. But I have been using the same panel in all my favorite airframes and it is getting old. I need the variety of different panels but I can't stand stretched out gauges. Thanks in advance, dolph

Hi!I am the webmaster of the Virtual Norwegian Airforce, and I have a "small" request. We really could need a SAAB Safir for our fleet, but we can't find either a Shareware or a freeware.. So that I why I turn to you who read this.. If you could please help us to make a SAAB Safir, not a very fancy model with VC and all that, we just need a model that looks like the reallife counterpart.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saab_SafirPanel isn't that important, because we can allways live with either the defult Cessna something, or try to find something.. All we need is a model and a decent .air file..Could anyone help us with that? And we would be eternally grateful, and perhaps …

I have read and been able to create xml gauges by following the many recommended Tutorials - many thanks to the authors - but apart from the 'autoflaps' program of Glen Copeland which does not suit my needs, I have been unable to create sucessfully an auto sequence. I have a few others that I would like to create, so a lead would be very helpful. Sequence is: on the approach, a/c airborne, flaps down, gear down, throttle set at 40%, elevator & pitch trim settings set. What I would like then is on touchdown to retract the flaps and shut down the engine. Because I would like to have a take off auto sequence as well, I think that (A:Sim on ground) cannot be used. I have …

Hi all,I'm trying to make a Back course gauge that will be indicate that you are more than ninety degrees from the localizer and no glideslope will be available, and you can still capture the back course beam.I have the "no glide slope available, but the 90 degrees from the localizer I can't figure out. I don't know what to use. Please help. Here is what I have so far:(A:HSI GSI needle valid, bool) 0 == (A:HSI has localizer, bool) &&Thanks,Benny

In FS9 I put a click spot next to the clock that let me instantly pop back to a simulation rate of 1 - after smoking along for awhile at a higher rate. This worked: 256 (>K:SIM_RATE_SET).Unfortunately MS did not include this SET command in FSX.This is no big deal, and I can certainly live without it, but I'm curious about whether it can be done somehow. Does anyone know of a work-around that will do this trick?Cheers, Bob

Hi All,I need help on a gauge that should only be visible between -30 degrees of pitch to +40 degrees of pitch. The idea is when the pitch exceeds +40 degrees or falls below -30 it will not show. Here is the code I have so far. (A:Attitude indicator pitch degrees, degrees) 30 <What happens now is when the pitch exceeds -30 degrees (going down) the gauge goes off; but nothing when the pitch is going up. When I change it to:(A:Attitude indicator pitch degrees, degrees) 30 >Now the gauge is turned off until I have exceeded -30 degrees (going down).Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Hello fellow aviators,I am reworking a Piper Arrow II. I can get the landing light on the plane, I can get that sort of milky glow of the light itself, but, I cant figure out how to get the light to actually "hit" the runway etc. Whats the secret to obtaining that effect? I've looked at the programing & .CFG files and such in other planes but I dont see what I'm missing. Help me find the light! Thanks

Hi fellows, Here is something special, hopefully someone has a solution for:I'm currently building a kind of autopilot (XML gauge) to drive the throttles depending on preset values. Everything works fine with this exeption:I assigned the throttles to one axis of my connected game controller. Obviously that device ist't of a too good quality (actaully it is home built), so that it sometimes sends out throttle commands on its own and so overwrites the gauge's throttle settings for a moment. The reason for this is an electric poroblem of most analogue devices, I'm aware of - but this not what I try to fix.My question is:Is it possible to disconnect or deactivate the throttle…

Anyone using VS 2008 yet? I just downloaded the trial to see if I want to upgrade, and wondered what others thoughts are (if any), beyond Bill's, "I'm never upgrading till they make me!" (Just kidding). =)Patrick
