is there a way to force a panel to open on a secondary monitor? i know you can open a panel on the main monitor and drag it over to the other monitor, but i'd like the panel to open on the 2nd monitor automatically. thanks.

I am upgrading models from FSDS 2.0 and 3.5 to 3.5.1. I have worked my way through a few changes:1. For a multi-LOD (level of detail) model - where you have models of varying details to be viewed at different distances, you have to give the models a specific name, e.g.:Simple_LOD_400 (for the main model)Simple_LOD_100Simple_LOD_25 (for the most distant)I don't know if the virtual cockpit model has to have a special name, but I am using VC - which is what they use in the tutorial.2. All animations must fit within the new parameters - generally 0 to 100. A single bad animation with a keyframe at 200 can cause them all to fail. Some of the animations appear to have cha…

Hi all,I am a novice programmer of the new XML gauges, and for starting, a very simple question: In the sentence "ImageSize X,Y,Z,K", the Z and K parameters are the witdh and height of the bmp image, but what are the X and Y parameters?thanks

Hi all,I want to control the visibility of an XML gauge so that it only appears if the user has Acceleration installed. After a trawl through the docs I couldn't find any mention of a simulation variable which contains the required version info. Is anybody aware of such a variable? Many thanks,DD

For an aircraft I'm creating, I've got this line in the panel.cfg: gauge08=Robinson_R22!RPM, 401, 388, 145, 145The idea is to use the default Robinson R-22's RPM gauge. But the gauge doesn't show up in the panel, because the R-22's cab file is located in the R-22's Panel folder, not in the common Gauges folder. If I copy the R-22's cab into the Gauges folder it works fine, but that's not a good fix - I want the gauge to display for the end user. Since I can' legally redistribute the cab file - and it would be awkward to instruct the user to copy his existing one into his Gauges folder - is there a way to specify the path to the cab file?

I am having an issue with my VOR gauges. It seems that they draw over one another, even though the artwork does not extend over the other gauge. Here is a screenshot to help illustrate my point.http://www.redbirdflightsimulations.com/ht...es_overdraw.jpgNotice that VOR 2 seems to be covering up part of VOR 1 and the ADF. The weird thing is that I set VOR 2 behind VOR 1 and ADF in FS Panel Studio. The other weird thing is that non of the artwork for the VOR 2 extends that far outside of the rim of the gauge. If VOR 1 and ADF are on and actively receiving a radio freq, this does not happen, it is only if they are not actively updating, so I thought..."Add an Update Ele…

Hi allI need some clarification regarding formatted text. What do the following actually do?VerticalAdjust="Center"Fixed="Yes"As far as I can see, they do nothing? Then I have a box that includes 6 lines of text, with a line height of 14. Surely this means that the height of the text box should be (6x14) 84. Yet with I only see 5 lines of text before it gets cut off. I've also noticed that increasing the "Y" value actually changes the size of the text, even though FontSize="12" is set. Surely the set font size should be the size that the text appears in?Last question: I have a bitmap of a grid, with the horizontal lines 14 pixels apart. In 1024x768 the above text box disp…

I am using this animation to try to create a waving flag for a ship. It has about 6 segments that are linked to each other and together are supposed to create a wave motion. It worked fine in FS9.A few questions and problems:1. I understand that the different NonRandomAmbient animations have different lengths and times. Does anyone know what those are?2. I assume that when it reaches the end, it loops back to zero? I have an animation that does not seem to work this way.3. For some reason, the flag won't display in the right place. It floats in the air somewhere above the ship. I have tried linking it to a part on the ship, but it still won't stay put! Thanks,Phil

Hello,I have a question for you. What do I have to do in order to get permanently bright displays such as pfd,nd...Do I have to use the bright-command for materials? If so, how can I mix it with the already added z-bias command? Thank you!best regardsMartin

I have a popup gauge that lives on a 1024x400 bitmap. I would like the popup to appear at this resolution, irrespective of the resolution that is set in the display options for the sim.My panel.cfg has the following entry:size_mm=1024,400pixel_size=1024,400position=6gauge00=GaugeX!Chart, 0,0,1024,400This works fine, as far as the size of the popup is concerned. No matter if you're in 1024x768, 1280x960 etc... the popup displays in 1024, leaving the bitmap as crisp as can be.However, the window position is off. When in 1280x960, it displays the gauge in the correct size, but not in the bottom left corner. there's some space below it, as if the gauge is being displayed in 1…

Is it possible to use the MS FS9 Garmin GPS in a payware aircraft? The payware AC is a nifty one alright, but it does not include the Garmin found in the default FS9 AC. I am too old to start learning how to operate a new one. (rather large grin) A Bendix, I think. Thanks for any replies.Regards,

Hi Guys, I am looking at modifying the PSS AirbusPro panel, in particular, changing the night panel so it is backlit rather than the 'Boeing Brown' that comes as standard. Any advice? Would FS Panel Studio be of any use? Thanks for your help, Regards, Stan.

Hi All,Ben Alfoldi at xsimulate gave me the go ahead to post this ad regarding this.We have lost our gauge programmer Fraser Turner. We are very close to having a completed DC-10-30 modeled in high fidelity. The VC by Jacob Kubique is completed just needing animation and model integration, the model by Ben is complete just needing the VC and a few tweaks. The sounds by Mike Maarse are perfect and right out of the airplane.the FDE by Shane Olquin at this point is the best, most accurate heavy FDE I have ever seen and it matches the Aircraft perf. manuals to a T.The 2D panels by Kyle Schurb are nearly completed and rendered in GMAX to match the VC.If you check the website at…

If this is not the correct board to post this in, please kindly let me know where would be a more appropriate place. This seems to me to be the best place to put it though.I work for a company called Redbird Flight Simulations, Inc. I created some custom animations in FS9 using FSDS2 and parts named AnimateTimed(6,100) where 6 is the number of seconds and 100 is the number of frames. (Specifically a waving flag with several segments.)Is there an equivalent animation in FSX?Thanks,Phil

I am attempting to create a VOR gauge in XML, and am stuck on the way FSX interprets the deflection of the needle. According to the SDK, it is seen as a number between -127 and 127. Problem is, the gauges show deflection based on degrees from the course, in 2 degree increments with 10 degrees left or right of the course being full deflection. How do I convert -127 and 127 to degrees so that the gauge will accuratly display the planes position? Thanks in advance,Charlie

I was doing some research to find the correct fonts for an airspeed gauge I was working on.I found 1 good sight, that might be helfpul here.http://www.identifont.com/This is where u can type in some #s or characters you want to figure out what font style they are in. It runs you through a series of questions to find the font style. In my searches a found the font (close to it) i was looking for called OCR B. Avail here: http://ansuz.sooke.bc.ca/software/ocrb.phpIt really matches pretty close to the font style used in many instruments, but the sites above may prove helpful for someone else.marchttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/183405.jpg

Does anyone know how to get the Windows XP ON-SCREEN KEYBOARD to work while flying in full screen mode? It works great when you fly in window mode.

Hi all,We noticed a few years ago with Ron (how time flies..), that FS9 didn't take into account (as regard resulting lift and drag effects) more than the first 4 flap sections (e.g flaps.0 to flaps.3). Any additional sections (flaps.4 and higher) seem to have no measurable effect. My questions are:1) What is your knowledge about that in FSX?2) If such sections are still ignored, why did some designers (an example is the PMDG 747 model) include them? Thanks for the feedbackHerv

I am new to the whole idea of XML gauge programming, so please bear with me if this seems like an obvious problem.I am trying to create a Davtron 803 (Kind of) I am not going to include the ability to set the clock from the gauge or any of that business, but what I do need it the ability to display Local Time, Universal Time, Flight Time, and Elapsed Time...as well as some other info. I have figured out everything except the flight timer and the elapsed time...basically a digital stopwatch. I have been looking all over the forums and have not been able to find much info on this topic. I can't seem to get my head wrapped around this issue. Any help would be greatly ap…
