Guys (and any Gals who might stumble into this den of insanity), I was rummaging through my files the other day, and found this detailed engineering drawing of a unique device. After scanning it and cleaning up the age spots, coffee stains, and assorted squashed bug splatters, I am posting it here as a CHALLENGE to anyone with Max, GMax, FSDS, or any other 3d software to produce the world's first 3d model! Be careful to observe the extremely detailed and precise specifications... http://www.aerodynamika.com/cgi-bin/yabb/Y...?num=1206308928

Hi All,I've been trying to combine different changes of some A:var codes into one string and it doesn't show anything but a 0 "zero". Here is the code I have without all the particulars. Do I need to add more "if"'s or "els"'s?Please help.%((A:code1) 50 < if{ (A:code2) 2 * } (A:code1) 60 < (A:code1) 50 >= & if{ (A:code2) 3 * } (A:code1) 70 < (A:code1) 60 >= & if{ (A:code2) 4 * } (A:code1) 80 < (A:code1) 70 >= & if{ (A:code2) 5 * } (A:code1) 80 > if{ (A:code2) 6 * })%!4d!BTW: If I put just one segment into the string it works for that particular event, such as: %((A:code1) 60 < (A:code1) 50 >= & if{ (A:code2) 3 * })%!4d!So, I k…

Is there a way to input air foil data into Microsoft Flight Simulator? I heard that X-Plane takes into account the air foil.In other words, does FS9 or FSX even consider the shape of an airfoil? Thanks,Biz

Hi,I'm trying to make a gauge that will show the transmission Pressure and Temp of my plane. However, since ENG TRANSMISSION TEMPERATURE & ENG TRANSMISSION PRESSUREdon't work on non-helicopter files.Does anybody know how to create a gauge that will measure pressure for this or how to create a fake dummy gauge? I searched the forum and one person said he had a work-around solution but didn't post the code. Thanks,Benny

I am in the process of hooking up a bass shaker under the ejection seat of my cockpit. It takes the sound files from the simulator and converts them into low frequency vibrations that simulate aircraft vibrations. One of my pet peeves is the lack of noise or vibration when the speed brakes are deployed on an aircraft. So, i have been looking at the sound SKD and sound cfg files of various aircraft. The SKD doesn't specify a specific sound for the speed brake. However, I see in some aircraft sounds that are not listed in the SKD i.e., Tailhook, launchbar, etc.If I use a rumbling sound and rename it [speedbrake], how do I get FSX to activate it when I extend the speed brake? …

HI all,I recently bought a Viewsonic 22" widescreen monitor as I couldn't resist the deal. I'm not at all a fan of WS monitors and there quite simply aren't really any large 4/3 aspect ratio monitors available. I fly the LDS767 mostly and the panel background bitmap and gauges are all stretched as would be expected. The gauges are quite oval shaped. Other than that it is amazing.I was wondering if it would be a monumental task to redo the lds bitmap and panel .cfg to combat this problem. I don't even know if one would have to adjust the gauge positions if the bitmap was stretched.Anyway, I'd be interested in people's opinions on this. Thanks in advance,Adam

Hi,When switching various AP functions, in FSX (with Acceleration) the aircraft banks 5 degrees to the right and then levels off again. I seem to remember this happened in FS9, but some tweaks in the aircraft.cfg file would minimise the problem. Can anyone please advise how I might minimise this banking in FSX?cheers, nick

Hi, I am very new to this DXT bmp and have used it succesfully ro remove the Yoke in the VC in number of aircraft by painting over the items with either Green or Black, I have the Carenado Archer and have removed the Yokes in the VC but the background panel etc is blurred, i have gone though the same proceedure as other bmp's selecting DXT1 before finnishing the bmp back to the texture folder, this blurring happens whatever i remove , i tried the headrest in the VC as a trial but all the mats/seats etc are blurred, Perhaps someone who knows about using the DXT may know what i am doing wrong, is it the makeup of the aircraft or am i using the wrong item from…

Hi everyone,on a C++ gauge that I'm developing for FS9, I'm getting the dreaded error message "Flight Simulator was unable to load some aircraft or software", which usually means that FS can't find a required DLL.I've checked everything, but I just can't work out what DLL I'm missing -- all of the ones I think I need are either on the search path or right in the FS9 directory.Does anyone know of a way that I can get FS to actually _tell_ me which DLL it can't find?Cheers,Martin

Hi all,I am currently looking for realistic and cool gauges to plug into my panels. I am doing biz jets and the tired old PFDs are getting to me. I got one from a download that is much different from the norm but I want more. I want some color and functionality, not just a ball for the HSI but more information, digital types. Is there a payware package that has nice PFDs available somewhere, or a freeware one? Thanks in advance, dolph

Hi,I'm trying to combine these two values in the same string. I've tried with & at the end and | "or" at the end as well with the combined amount wrong - and sometimes doubled. What am I doing wrong? The reason for the difference is because when the power is applied the value for the amount changes. 1100 rpm is at idle. I don't want to have 2 gauge needles with one disappearing if possible, also, I need this code for the "tooltip" for the mouse over. Here are the values:(A:General eng1 rpm,RPM) 6.87 / 1100 min (A:General eng1 rpm,RPM) 11.37 / 1100 maxPlease help.Regards,Benny

Hello, there was this aftermarket developer who used to make 777's. Only they were the LR model and as we know most have the 200ER model.I have already managed to merge it's panel with Overland's model. I am now in the process of trying to correct the engine and weight specs to the ER model instead of the LR.Editing the weight isn't much of an issue, but I ran into problems with the engines. My thinking was that if I copy the [GeneralEngineData], [TurbineEngineData] and [jet_engine] values from the Overland .cfg file into the other .cfg file I would get the correct engine specs (at least according to Overland) for the 77-200ER.But when I test flew with the edited aircraft.c…

I have a Gloster F5 Guardian and the glass does not show in FSX. When I downloaded it there was a statement that the glass texture had to be in DXT3 bmp form. I tried using DXTBMP but I am lost. What exactly do I have to do with the glass texture. There was no readme or even any idea who uploaded it so I can't contact the author. The glass texture fiel is:glass texture_t.bmpIf anyone has it converted I'd sure like to get it and find out how it was created. Thanks, best regards, Bob.

Okay,What's up with this? What have I overlooked? ;)When on the ground with the engine running, the formula below generates rediculous random numbers (e.g., "13895.0 Min". I'm trying to set a condition that will simply display " " (empty space) when below 40 knots.EDIT: Never Mind! I had a brain f*rt.....%((A:Sim On Ground, bool) 0 ==)...%{if}%((A:NAV1 DME, nmiles) (A:GPS GROUND SPEED, knots) / 60 *)%!0.1f! Min...%{else}% % I completely forgot that in we need to use %{if}% and %{else}% syntax...

I'm trying to implement a manual startup procedure for an R-22 based helicopter. The problem is, once you engage the rotor clutch the engine dies. This is something that slipped in the back door with Acceleration (or possibly SP2) and affects all R-22 based helis; before I installed those the problem didn't exist.I did notice that if you use Ctrl E to start the engine/rotor, it works fine. So: Is there a way to analyze exactly what happens when Ctrl E is used? I'm thinking if I can see what it's doing behind the scenes I might be able to make a doctored-up starter switch that works in a similar way.

I wonder if it's possible to model a Synthetic Visual System (SVS)that is being developed by Honeywell Aerospace? Is it possible in FS9 or perhaps FSX to use a windowed view without the cockpit? I don't see a front view available and if it was, it would probably have weather on it still obstructing the runway, eh?http://www.wired.com/techbiz/media/news/2006/07/71495This would be a cool page to flip to on the PFD when the weather is bad.

Hi,I'm new to this forum but I read it quite often. I really need help with a Decision Height gauge for 2 problems, Please.1. The DH gauge is supposed to start at 200 and increase/decrease with the knob by 1; but, it doesn't do anything - just stays at DH 200.2. I need the gauge to flash on (DH bitmap below) and off for 3 seconds then remain on afterwards once activated. Here is what I have so far.(please ignore the position places - they are correct on the panel)// ---- DH 200 string Display ----DH %((G:Var1) 200)%!3d!// ---- DH Bitmap ----(G:Var1) (A:Radio Height, feet) < ?// ---- DH Adjustment Knob ----(G:Var1) 1 - 0 max (>G:Var1)(G:Var1) 1 + 1000 min (>G:Var1)…

Hi all,I am trying to make a simple radar screen showing AI around the aircraft. Does anyone know of a tutorial or some reference material of any kind that could help me work with the Traffic Toolbox and itrafficinfo? Like a basic example of source code to start from.I am using VC++ 2005 for this btw, the rest of the gauges are in XML though. Haven't coded gauges in C for two years so a little rusty... ;) Cheers,Thomas

This is a for a C gauge.Working on an auto-close function for a panel (such as, click the "x" and panel is toggled off). Easy to do if you know the ID of the panel. In my case, the panel is a custom panel, and it does not have an "ident" line in panel.cfg.An internal ID is no doubt assigned to it, but I need to know what it is at runtime.I suspect it's in a PELEMENT somewhere passed to the main loop, or perhaps as an event.Anyone know of a quick method to retrieve the panel ID at runtime?Cheers,

This will bemy first post in this particular forum. To say I am a newbie is beyond a statement of the obvious right now. So hopefully some experts will be kind and guide me into exploring this part of our hobby. Now to my questions. I am learning how to modify my personal panels for my own use.1. I have added a movable yoke to a particular 2D panel, but the gauges behind the yoke bleed through and become unreadable as they are essentially scattered as the yoke moves over them. Is there some good documentation or resources to understand what is happening and how to make adjustments?2. I like to modify the main panel bmp to reflect correct night lighting that cascades acr…
