I would like to run only one instance of a gauge server (dll) in a model that has a VC and 2d panel. I've found that I need to have an entry for the gauge in both the 2d section and VC section of panel.cfg in order for it to run when either the 2d panel or VC is selected. If I put the gauge in both the 2d section and VC section of panel.cfg in FSX, I get either one or 2 instances running depending on whether the users selects the 2d panel or VC.Is there a way I can configure the panel.cfg so that only 1 instance of the gauge will run regardless of how the user uses the 2d panel or VC?

I'm trying to set a destination as a direct to if I have no flightplan loaded, I can't understand why the following code doesn't work - but then again I've never done much with the gps module. :( (@c:FlightPlanIsActiveFlightPlan) 0 == if{ (L:FMC-RTE-DEST-1,number) 64 > (L:FMC-RTE-DEST-4,number) 64 > (L:FMC-RTE-DEST,bool) 0 == and and if{ 1 (>C:fs9gps:IcaoSearchStartCursor) (L:FMC-RTE-DEST-1,number) (>C:fs9gps:IcaoSearchEnterChar) (C:fs9gps:IcaoSearchCursorPosition) 1 + (>C:fs9gps:IcaoSearchCursorPosition) (L:FMC-RTE-DEST-2,number) (>C:fs9gps:IcaoSearchEnterChar) (C:fs9gps:IcaoSearchCursorPosition) 1 + (>C:fs9gps:IcaoSearchCursorPosition) (L:FMC-R…

I am confused about a command...Is there a way to determine which FSX functions are part of the "toggle" function? I ask this as I am considering the purchase of the Desktop Aviator Switch Panel, but it is only operable for FSX commands that include the "toggle" function...Thanks a lot for your help...SteveReply With Quote

Anyone have any ideas into this one:This works:void FSAPI EventHandler (ID32 event, UINT32 evdata, PVOID userdata) { if (event == KEY_ROTOR_BRAKE) { speed_bug_right++; }}Here I am capturing when Rotor Brake has been fired.What happens is that any time the key rotor brake event is fired in simulation, the speed bug variable increments by one.This code works fine.However...I want to be able to capture this:if (event == KEY_ROTOR_BRAKE, 3939)Note the extra parameter, 3939.So basically I'm trying to capture this event when it happens:trigger_key_event (KEY_ROTOR_BRAKE, 3939);But it doesn't work. The extra parameter messes things up somehow. It results in speed_bug_right va…

Hey all,I'm currently working on a updated Airbus panel and need to make several custom gauges for it. Spent the better part of the whole day working on it, reading tutorials, etc and frankly I'm no closer than I started with regard to making gauges. The Panel Bitmaps and gauge bitmaps I can do but simple XML gauge programing is eluding me.I was wondering if some kind soul on the forums would be willing to help me with this project either by doing the XML programing or if by some miracle teaching me how to do it in a manner I understand I would greatly appreciate it.If anyone would be willing to help I can be reached at vmnovak (AT) gmail.com most easily. Thanks!

I have a panel I am working on for a two engine plane like the Beech Baron. I am using the Beech_Baron!Left RPM Indicator and the Beech_Baron!Right RPM Indicator. The right tachometer works fine (both the pointer and the tooltip RPM value) but the left pointer does not move (stays at 0) although the tooltip indicates the correct RPM. I have the exact same gauges in my Beech Baron and both gauges work fine. I looked at the engine section of my aircraft.cfg and it looks exactly like the Beech Baron aircraft.cfg. I checked that the left gauge did not have any negative locations on the panel. What can be wrong? Thanks, regards, Bob.

Note, this was a post from Aug 20 2005 originally. The forum software change following the "hack attack" managed to FUBAR the original code. Also, I've changed from trigger_key_event to send_key_event to eliminate potential conflicts with keyboard input. Here's one way to get "Vertical Speed Change" working in a C autopilot. VS is selected via the "knob" to descend or ascend. Clicking on the knob's center will "cancel" SVS (Selected Vertical Speed) and return the AP HOLD (current altitude. For brevity, I've only included the relevant parts of the C source code: /* The two FLOAT64 values may be simple "float" if you wish. I have to use FLOAT64 because of the need to con…

Hello!I'm trying to understand how the engine section of FDE's works but I can't understand what Ron Freimuth means with Thrust_Reference.According to him, FF (pph) = Thrust_Reference * F1505(CN2) * Delta_t/sqrt(Theta_t) but i have a hard time getting that formula to work.Do I at least get this part right, delta_t = current hPa / 1013 hPa?Any help would be great.

I can't get the AP to hold altitude or hold vertical speed. The AP itself is available and active. For vertical speed I've tried various combinations ofKEY_AP_VS_ON/OFF/SET/HOLDKEY_AP_VS_VAR_SET_ENGLISHKEY_AP_PANEL_VS_ON/OFF/SETFot altitude hold I've tried combinations ofKEY_AP_PANEL_ALTITUDE_HOLD/ON/OFF/SETKEY_AP_ALT_ON/OFF/HOLD/SETKEY_AP_ALT_VAR_SET_ENGLISHIn all cases neither altitude hold nor vertical speed hold works. I haven't tried capturing a specified altitude yet but I'll bet that doesn't work either. I absolutely have to have overlooked something simple.... but what?-Dai

Hello!One of the things I really like about FSX is it's GPS: Can get me to anywhere I want.But this means I will always get there, even with the PC unattended, and this makes flying boring!Now I can't turn GPS off and ignore it, because since I don't have the winds aloft forecast I can't really fly by dead reckoning (over the ocean, where navigation is truly challenging.)So why not make a sextant for FSX? It would be a real killer! Consider FSX already incorporates 9,096 (!) stars, Sun and Moon that are properly displayed according to latitute, longitude, time-of-day, date and season.Then try and fly a B-17 from Kadena AFB (RODN) in Japan and actually find Midway Islan…

I have a problem with the afterburner. I am getting correct figures regarding fuel flow when on ground, but once I lift off, the FF it is increasing and increasing until 5-6 times the right figures. Any idea of the reason of that behaviour and how to solve it?I have added right specific fuel comsumtion in CFG and quite decent 1506 table.Thank you

I hope this comes under the panel and gauge area! When I have either the Yaw Damper or Wing Leveler function activated, I am unable to make any corrections in heading...It seems that these functions are simply another Hdg Hold...I did notice that there is a setting in the aircraft.cfg that allows one to change the settings for the Yaw Damper...Would that make any difference and , if so, what would be a good setting?...Also, while I'm at it, should there be a wing Leveler entry in the aircraft.cfg setting also? Thanks for your info and patience!Steve

Hello people,This is the first time ever I'm meddling with panels, and so I'm a complete newb. I've managed to successfully merge the 2D panel, and everything seems to work quite well, but the next step is to transplant the gauges from the 2D panel to the VC, and in the process I also want to update the VC textures with photorealistic stuff. However, the VC has some weird stuff going on with the gauges, and in my view the VC isn't very realistic, looking at gauge placement. The problem is I have no idea how to adjust the gauges. I have been looking into the panel.cfg file, and I noted where the gauges are. I then copied over the 2D panel gauges to the VC parts of the pane…

Hi, i just did a trial for XML gauge coding. So far, i only able to code this far: <Gauge Name="Tes Output" Version="1.0"> <Text X="110" Y="10" Bright="Yes" Length="11" Font="Arial" Color="Red" Adjust="Center" VerticalAdjust="Center"> <String><Value>(A:Rudder Deflection, degrees)</Value></String> </Text> <Text X="110" Y="21" Bright="Yes" Length="11" Font="Arial" Color="White" Adjust="Center" VerticalAdjust="Center"> <String><Value>(A:Warning Fuel, bool)</Value></String> </Text> <Text X="110" Y="32" Bright="Yes" Length="11" Font="Gill Sans MT" Color="Blue" Adjust="Center" VerticalA…

What does the KEY_VIEW_CAMERA_SELECT (_0 through 9) do in FSX? I am looking for a way, if possible, to make a toggle switch on a panel to toggle on and off a camera definition that I have made in the aircraft.cfg. Is it possible to do this? Thanks, regards, Bob.

does anyone know how to move one VC to a plane without a VC. for example, i have a DC-8 model and every thing,except a VC. after looking at some cockpit pictures online, i realized that the DC-8 cockpit is similar to a lockheed electra cockpit. i have a lockheed electra and it have a VC. is there anyway i can move the cockpit from the electra to the dc-8?

Hi all, I'm trying to modify some cfg's and air files of airplanes I've really flown to make them a bit more real, as I remember them at last.. :)So far, I was able to add a propwash effect by moving the engine location below 0, and moving it to the right to have some torque to counteract. Then, I also moved the empty weight CG forward, to gain a little nose down attitude when cutting power and on stalls. But I'm not satisfied yet. The plane is way too stable on its lateral axis, it seems that engine or not engine, the pitch is unaffected by it. The torque is very very low, I remember I had to use almost full rudder on take off with 300 HP. And landing is a trick, it …

Hi,I have been experimenting with installing the FSX G1000 glass into the default Cessna Caravan turboprop. It looks cool as heck but it don't work. There is some hook that is missing but I don't know what. I can live without the engine parameters not working properly but I can't live without the airspeed and altitude tapes working. They both sit at zero. I tried all versions (Baron, C172 and Mooney) of the PFD and MFD and they all have the same results.Does anyone know what I might do to make the airspeed and altitude work on the G1000 with this plane? Many thanks in advance,dolph98
