I guess a lot of people have this problem and so do I (I'm new at this). Here is what I have done:Applied FSX Material to planars in my Gmax model and they look good.Exported model, with defaults plus Copy Bitmaps checked.Used DXTBMP to convert 24 bit bmp to DDS5.*** did not do anything with an Alpha Channel or flip anything or mipmap anything ***Placed the same named .DDS file in the Texture folder of the FSX Model. In FSX in either 2D, 3D or outside views, the areas are black. What am I missing ?GMAxFSXDXTBMP

Tell me if I'm doing this correctly, for just about any texture that I want to apply like in a 2D cockpit.I had a 24 bit image which was 417 x178 and I apply that texture to a planar in the Gmax model and sized it around until it looked right. If I understand correctly, I have to have a 32 bit DDS file (Fuel.dds), placed in the Texture folder for FSX, that has the same "name", as the BMP file (Fuel.bmp) which I used in Gmax. Some questions:I understand the DDS has to be square (i.e. 512 x 512) and include an Alpha channel (which I created), but where should the image be on the new resized canvas size of 512 x 512 ?The image below is where I'm at right now, not knowing what …

I have the rotor of a gyrocopter animated and _still, _slow, _blurred all work with the normal visibilty in FSX.What I want is a rotor turning at about 300 rpm for both _slow and _blurred, so basically you see the rotor turning somewhat (just the like the GyroBee gyrocopter made for FS2004 does). How do I visibly slow down the rotor ? in Gmax or in Animation Manager ?I presently have the rotor turn by 90 degrees each 25 frames over 100 frames in Gmax.PS: If I were to try and move prop_anim to a lesser value in the aircraft.cfg, that would also slow the pusher prop. Thanks

Hello,I am trying to display my XML gauge on top of an existing gauge in FSX in virtual cockpit. I found that back in 2004 that was not possible. I tried draw_order00 for virtual cockpit, but it did not help. Any ideas? Or do I have to create a single gauge does functionality of both gauges? Thanks.

I am having a problem. The BMP file shows all textures, but when brought into Gmax and viewed in Material Editor (or applied to a planar object with UVW Unwrap, the gauges are not visible, but all the other textures are. What's causing this ? (it's the texture BMP from a Robinson R-22 called Panel_R22_Decals.bmp).How it appears in Gmax:What is in the BMP file:

I have built in Gmax a simple polygon which I will call "panel". I have made it the same size as a Cessna's panel. I can see the panel shape when exported to FSX. I have applied a texture to the Gmax panel as per the SDK and many tutorials. I have copied the same [VCockpit] from the Cessna into my panel.cfg.Why do the gauges not show up in the VC of FSX ??? The panel is just entirely black.

Hi everyone!,I m working on the flight dynamcis of a 737 for fs9,and i really need some help there. As soon as the aircraftbanks in a turn, it looses lift dramatically and starts to descent. The greater the bank anglethe higher the descent rate. How can I soften that effect?Which entry in the air file controlsthe relationship between bank angle and lift?PS: I know that a certain loss of lift in turns is normal due the lift being angled sideways and no longer pointing straight up but this is way too muchand I need to reduce that.Hope u can help me!Regards Corey

Hello!I have a speciffic question concerning engine start. When using the autostart function, some aircraft start the engines in a very unrealistic short time (especially the IFDG airbus).Does anybody know, where I can change this time and which factors (values and variables) are responsible for it?Do I need a speciffic software to change it?thank you very much!cheersmarkusp.s. I used search function, but I did not find a thread concerning this topic.

Hello, I've been a flight simmer for a few years now and the only major addon I own is the level-d 767. Like most, I have really enjoyed it. I picked up a copy of fs panel studio a while back for another project, and recently decided for fun to give my level-d a panel conversion (easier said then done). I'm not much of a vc flyer and was getting a little bored with the original panel, so I found a bitmap photoreal 767 panel and got started. I like how easy it is to just drop gauges and move them into place and to keep track of things. But heres my problem... when I added the eadi, ehsi, and eicas and tried to load the plane in fs2004, it crashed to desktop. Any thoughts o…

Is there a way to have the fuel feed from the tanks in a automatic order? ie: drop tanks, then wings, then aft, then forward. Thanks!

hi allThis macro holds five numbers from an array. Is it posible to use these numbers to form a single value in another macro? <Macro Name="ScratchPad">(L:NUMset1,number) @1 == if{ @Num:@1 sp1 }(L:NUMset2,number) @1 == if{ @Num:@1 sp2 }(L:NUMset3,number) @1 == if{ @Num:@1 sp3 }(L:NUMset4,number) @1 == if{ @Num:@1 sp4 }(L:NUMset5,number) @1 == if{ @Num:@1 sp5 }</Macro>

I need some help here... Up to now, I've been of the belief that in orderto show 2048x2048 textures in FSX, you had to set the Texture Max Loadparameter in fsx.cfg to 2048.After having been told that this is not required post SP1, I've been comparingscreenshots with TML set to 1024 and 2048 for the same plane (Quest Kodiak)that uses 2048 textures both for the VC panel and for the exterior. The result is that I can see no difference.. which would tend to support the notionthat this parameter is not required.Does anyone have the definitive answer to this question? :(

Hi - I wonder if there are any designers that could help me through a snag in getting my gyroplane moving along ???I built it in Gmax and my biggest problem right now is that it catapults around while just sitting there. Also my Center of Gravity (looking at FSX Fuel and Payload) is clear back at the tail.So I'm looking for help in this particular area:Getting the basic aircraft.cfg and/or .air files stable.(Maybe someone that owns AirWrench and understands the basics.)Thanks

Hi,I've been editing light maps to accommodate the change from the default FSX gps to the RXP gps in some Carenado virtual cockpits. The changes to the bmp files are relatively straight forward, but I have not found a reliable way to reload the aircraft, including thechanged light map which is located in the airplane's texture.XX file. When I reselect the Aircraft from the aircraft selection screen, it will reload, but mostly, the old light map will still show up...Only shutting down FSX and restarting will reliably give me the new light map. This really slows down editing :( Is there a way to force FSX to refresh the textures?

Does anyone know of a source for a good quality copy of the original logo that was in the middle of the flight yoke on the WWII era DC-3? Hope this question isn't in the wrong forum, but I thought "yoke...panel..." etc...Thanks,Steve in Kansas

fs9 - FSDS351 - Win XP I am doing the VC of a 4 piston engined aircraft. The Mixture levers control two engines each, left and right pairs. I have the cockpit view XML gauges working properly as I can set both the (K:..._SET ) values in the same line of code with a simple 'd' [duplicate] command. My problem is that I cannot do a similar thing in the 'MakeMDL <part>' gauge, something like this:- <mouserect> <cursor>Hand</cursor> <help_id>HELPID_GAUGE_THROTTLE_MIXTURE</help_id> <tooltip_id>TOOLTIPTEXT_THROTTLE_MIXTURE_PERCENT</tooltip_id> <mouse_flags>LeftSingle+LeftDrag</mouse_flags> <callback_draggi…

Hi all, this is my first time in the forums and I'm asuming this is the right place for my question. I'm wanting to modify the Carenado 210 panel and eventually airfig., but first I need help with the getting the VC guages to brighten. In night mode, there is a soft red glow on panel, and turning landing light on, a brighter red light appears on panel. That doesn't bother me. However, the only way I can read the guages is if I press [shift] L and the whole cabin now appears white. I would prefer not to do this. I'm very new to this, so if there is a solution, please explain to me like I was in grade school. :( I'm am using FSX SP1. Thanks

Is there any graphical gauge test program that will allow the user to open a gauge and send inputs to the gauge like airspeed, altitude, pressure, temperature, flow rate, etc. as needed? I would like to be able to checkout the gauge operation outside of FSX during the gauge design. Thanks, Bob.

I was hoping someone could explain to me how I can add 2d panel surround views to my airbus. I already have the bmp's in the panel folder but I'm not sure what to insert into the aircraft.cfg file, or if I need gauges for each of them. Im using wilco's A320 panel with project airbus model. Regards

Hi there, i've recently been trying a panel combination with the pmdg and feelthere 737 panel, using the overhead of the feelthere as even though not an ng, it does have better system sounds. When the packs are turned off in this overhead, one hears the AC fans spooling down to create that quiet before engine start. Unfortunately the feelthere and pmdg systems like autopilot have been confliciting due to this. Is there any way to stop the conflicts, or how can i edit the pmdg panel to incorporate such a pack sound system. I would very much appreciate any help. Thanks

According to Bill's comprehensive mini-tutorial on flightsim.com, this should return the cruising altitude from the current flightplan:-PCSTRINGZ CruiseAlt;execute_calculator_code("(C:fs9gps:FlightPlanCruisingAltitude,string)",NULL,NULL,&CruiseAlt);All I get is a zero in CruiseAlt instead of (in this case) 22000 feet. Now, what I hope was a comprehensive search through the forum didn't turn up any help, so what I have I done wrong...?-Dai

Hi Guys,Just a quick question, I have modded my Wilco ERJ170 to remove the VC for better frame rates but in the process lost my wingviews. I used a HEX editor to remove the VC and I am guessing I may already know the answer to this but is there a way to retain the wingviews without the VC in place? Thanks for the help everyone!Mike
