Just bought a 16:10 monitor. Most add-ons have 4:3 panels. What I would llike to do is to have the ability to manually slide the panel up or down (with correct proportions) but not sideways. Meaning, I would like to unlock the height but keep the width fixed ie. full width...To better explain...when the monitor is initially loaded I want the top or the bottom (or parts thereof) not showing...Hope this makes sense...Is it possible to do this ? I run into issues with payware panels. The default models are easily resizeable. Thanks for any tips...

Hello guys,Is it possible to rotate a digital output of a radio channel gauge 90 degrees clockwise? I've looked into GaugeText Objects of the SDK and tried DegreesPointsTo and PointsTo together with an axis statement but failed. Actually I don't know where to put it in the element. Can anybody help me, or is it impossible! Here's the code<Gauge Name="UHF-CH" Version="1.0"> <Size X="23" Y="27"/> <Update Frequency="6"/> <Element> <Visible>(A:Circuit general panel on, bool)</Visible> <Axis X="11" Y="13"/> <Text X="23" Y="27" Bright="Yes" Length="2" Font="Quartz" Bold="Yes" Color="yellowgreen" Adjust="center" VerticalAdjust="ce…

A question for the panel gurus - I have a payware aircraft on which the Altimeter needles are incorrect (historically and aesthetically) - the 100 needle indicates the thousands and the 1K needle indicates the hundreds. I would like to change these round.I looked around and found a zip file in the panel folder which contains all the xml and bmp files for the VC cockpit, including the bmp files for the needles. Now, it would be very easy to unzip this file, swap the needle file names and zip it all but again, but I don't think this will work. I tried renaming the zip file to see if ot was being called at FSX load time or aircraft load time and it doesn't seem to be.So the …

A quick Question:Some gauges have none or less lighting in the night. There was previously a utility to rectify (I think gaugepink for fs2002 or FS2004)Can it still be used, or is there another method for FSX?

Roman, Fr. Bill, and Enjell:I just wanted to take a moment to express once again my sincere thanks for your help. Those gauges are working very well, and I could not have accomplished without you guys. My schedule doesn't leave a whole lot of time for forums, but I don't feel right about showing up only when I need something. So I'll try to be a little more visible around here when possible, and offer whatever help I can. The only issue (as we all know) is that you guys are extremely sharp with XML, and I'm extremely not...I dread the possibility of giving someone bad information. If you (or anyone reading this) are doing "vehicle" panels, I've got quite a few cutesy…

Hi guys - I hope this is a fairly simple question. I'm trying to change the VC cockpit lighting on an existing model to red from white. I have located the relevant entries in the Lights section of aircraft.cfg, which are all set to fx_vclight. The only red lights I can find are the nav lights (fx_navred), and I have had some success calling this, reducing the number of lights and positioning the light sources lower in the VC. But I have seen mention of a fx_vclights_red file, and wonder if anyone knows where I can get a copy ?Any other suggestions welcome also !

Is anyone successfully using the UEStudio IDE with VC++ Express 2008 to compile multigauges for FS?VC++ Exp builds the gauges alright but the IDE does not display a folder with External Dependencies so none of the subgauges are listed and thus are not available for editing from within the IDE.The UEStudio IDE on the other hand provides an External Dependencies node in the tree and the subgauges are fully available. The multigauge appears to compile correctly without error but the gauge bitmaps are not visible in FS and so far I have been unable to figure out what I am doing wrong with the setup.Any clues will be appreciated.Fred

I have a problem with the nav lights on My mdl ( Made in Gmax FSX Gamepack with attached nav lights on moving wings / wingflex ) The Mdl is is in 2 parts ( Interior and Exterior ) and with lights attached to animated parts on the exterior model. I made custom properties ( Generel Lights ) on all lights as done in Max7 or 8 ) But here in Gmax 1.2/FSX Gamepack, just typed the properties manually. The lights on the wings ( Nav and Strobe ) is proberly linked to the animated wing mesh, and is rendered as it should both in SpotView and from Virtual Cockpit on the ground. The problem is as soon as Im in the air ( Shortly after take off, the lights are suddenly visible through al…

I've been looking for a hidden gauge (XML) that when pressed in FS2004 will disable my joystick and if pressed again will enable my joystick. The default keyboard assignment to disable/enable the joystick in FS2004 is CTRL+K.Anyone know where I could find such a gauge? Or even better, can a simple xml gauge be written to allow such a task?I've searched the library looking for a gauge but have not had much luck.I also looked into writing a simple xml gauge, but am struggling to understand just what key code command to use. This website has helped http://www.fs2x.com/Tutorials.htm but I can't find a key code to use. http://www.fs2x.com/Tutorials_files/FS2004_Click_Events.…

I feel a little stupid asking this because I'm pretty sure I should know the answer. When starting a jet engine, which FS default electrical circuits should be active beforetrigger_key_event(KEY_TOGGLE_FUEL_VALVE_ENG1,0);trigger_key_event(KEY_TOGGLE_STARTER1,0);have any effect? (I'm aware of the fubar between FS9 and FSX on the starter switches). I did have this working and thought it was the main battery bus but even though querying the battery bus, the fuel valve and the engine starter state all return 1, the engine refuses to light off.-Dai

The OldRaisinI noted that others besides me were struggling with this, so when I solved it I thought I would pass it along:You need a main graphics program such as Photopaint, Paint Shop Pro, or Photoshop to make the targa (.tga) file and the alpha bmp file. You need Image Tool from Microsoft to make the 8 bit paletted file with alpha. Get the 160K version dated 11-17-2003.You need Dxtbmp from MW graphics, freeware, to make the targa file with alpha by importing a bmp file as the alpha. (go to http://fly.to/mwgfx/ and then open the link Graphics Tools. you will find DXTBmp under "CSF/FS graphics programs", and mwgfx.dll under "Newest mwgfx.dll package version". The downloa…

I wish this forum had a better search routine because I'm sure the answer's here somewhere. Unfortunately, advanced searching on 'fuel', 'fuel level', 'fuel remaining' and 'fuel level remaining' all return pages and pages of identical results. When calculating the fuel remaining in any one tank, I have seen the following two figures quoted: divide by 8088322.0 and divide by 8388608.0 (quoted in the SDK) e.g.lookup_var(&fuel_level_leftaux);lookup_var(&fuel_cap_leftaux);dblfuelstate=fuel_level_leftaux.var_value.n/[figure];dblfuelstate=fuel_cap_leftaux.var_value.n * dblfuelstate; However, I find that when comparing a full tank to the fuel capacity as stated in the air…

To Engell (DVA4110) and Fr. Bill (N4GIX):I'd like to wish both you a wonderful Holiday season from myself and the gang at LewisAire, and I extend personal thanks for your help and direction with that wiper-gauge code; I would never have been able to accomplish it otherwise. If you wish to see the fruits of your efforts first-hand, I've put the whole package (18-wheel log truck) up on the LewisAire website for download. It's all inclusive (meaning everything it needs is in the download folder...it doesn't refer to or require anything else). Just download it, unzip, and install it in your Flight Simulator 9/Aircraft folder like any other plane...and run it. In Flight Sim,…

Hi, now that I've got the knobs turning with mouse wheel support,I should be happy and go fly... but I've still got one more thingI would love to do:Turning the knob with the mouse wheel anywhere over the knob and allowing the knobto be pushed with a click (maybe mouse wheel click). Here is what I have and it does work! <Area Left="5" Top="610" Width="80" Height="60"> <Area Right="30"> <Tooltip>Decr AP Altitude</Tooltip> <Cursor Type="DownArrow"/> <Click Repeat="Yes"> 100 (>K:AP_ALT_VAR_DEC) </Click> </Area> <Area Left="30"> <Tooltip>Incr AP Altitude</Tooltip> <Cursor Type="UpAr…

Hi all, does anyone know of a way to determine what the window_size and window_pos values should be in the panel.cfg file, based on the information available from a saved flight that already has the windows sized and positioned? For example, I recently bought the Carenado C182Q, and have resized and repositioned all my panel windows and saved a flight. I'd like to be able to take the information for each panel window from the saved flight, and convert it into something usable in the panel.cfg file, so that the size and positions of each window from the saved flight, would become the default sizes and positions for the panel windows for that aircraft regardless of whether I…

Hi, I've got another XML coding issue, that I need a hand with.. :( According to the documentation , this should work, in practice it does not... <Tooltip>Adjust AP Altitude</Tooltip> <Cursor Type="Hand"/> <Click Kind="LeftSingle+RightSingle"> (M:Event) 'LeftSingle' 100 (>K:AP_ALT_VAR_INC) (M:Event) 'RightSingle' 100 (>K:AP_ALT_VAR_DEC) </Click> Trying to adjust the Autopilot Altitude bug..The original code does work: <Tooltip>Decr AP Altitude</Tooltip> <Cursor Type="DownArrow"/> <Click Repeat="Yes"> 100 (>K:AP_ALT_VAR_DEC) </Click>

Hello everybody,I recently got back into gauge development and was wondering if somebody could help me with a plane icon on the default fs9gps map element which does not rotate it. I have customised my map with Trackup=0 (North facing up). My issues are: 1. I cannot get my plane icon to be at the departure airport by default. Do I have to some fancy calculation like how many nm in a pixel or is it more simpler? 2. When I attempted to place a <rotation> and/or <nonlinearity> tag it seem my plane is moving but the plane bitmap is in the wrong position or am I using my rotation tags incorrectly? 3. When I scale my airplane icon in the &l…
