I am new to designing and I love it. It seems that everytime I jump over a hurdle, I land in front of another one. My latest, which to many is now a pebble on the road to a complete aircraft is, Rflective texures in FSDS2. I am able to build a nice alpha channel bitmap, make it a reflective texture in FSDS, but it is a little too bright. I am building a WW2 era plane that would have some shine, but this baby is like a flying flashlight. How does on turn down the reflective qualities so that there is a little bit on shine but the plane doesn't stand out like a sore thumb, especially in hostile skies. hehe

Hi All,Since a couple of days I'm trying to realize a current Airspeed and Altitude Hold function for an older Turboprop Aircraft. Seems that there is no usable code for it. I've also tried to set the Airspeed via (A:Airspeed select indicated or true, knots) s1 and l1 (>K:AP_SPD_VAR_SET) by a mouseclick. It works as far as the current Airspeed was given to the AP. Unfortunately the AP doesn't hold this speed. I've also checked the Aircraft.cfg and Airfile. Everything seeems to be allright there (Autothrottle is available and Arming is not required. Does anybody know an easier way to realize this function?Best RegardsMatthias

Basically this allows you to use gMax to visually set your contact points (not just position but also gear compression, etc), static height/pitch, etc and then copy and paste the data to your aircraft.cfg file. Here's the beta script. I was hoping to polish it a little more before release but I'm not going to get a chance to work on it until next week so....READ THE README.TXT FILE BEFORE USING!...as the script doesn't have much in the way of error trapping and the like:http://supadetail.gmaxsupport.com/temp/contacts01.zip (~5K)I've also recorded a video which talks through the whole process using the sample P47 gMax model. It's not really very polished, but I only did it …

Hi, How do I add visible taxi lighting to an aircraft? I'm using an aircraft model which has a functioning taxi light switch, but no lights. Taxiing around airports is difficult in complete darkness and the landing lights are too bright, seen from the cockpit. It does not seem realistic either to taxi around with all candles lit.I'd like to add dimmer lighting, similar to ones I've seen on the default 747's or the new Dash 8 1.003. The exterior lighting is not that important, as long as I could see a cone of light from the pilot's seat. Thanks for any help-JET 1

I want to try to draw a panel texture to apply to the vc shown below and would like some advice on how to get started. The only ways I can think of is (1) draw each gauge on a background, or (2) find other panels and copy and paste the gauges to the background. Is there a better way? Thanks,John Woodward

Hello all, just wanted to ask a question on how to get good curved stipes on a repaint. I am currently doing a repaint of the FlightOne dc9 in the old Turkish THY livery. I have no problems with the straight stripes, but when they start to curve down to a point at the nose I run into problems. I'm using photoshop 6 and so far have been using the elipse selection marquee and subtracting from that to give me a curve shape but it doesn't work to well everytime. I know there has to be a simple solution to this and hopefully someone here will know. I know this is probably a simple question but it's driving me nuts hehe. Anyways, thanks all and I hope someone can show me the li…

I have a problem with gauge variables and rotate. I have clock and in the clock is a ring which rotates. And I want to use (G:Var5) to rotate the ring. But I haven't got it to work. How do you use variable to rate something? And how do you change the value of Var5 with mouse? In gauge is a knob to rotate the ring. It should change the value of Var5.(G:Var5) 10 + Is this ok?

So I went to change the name of the fuselage from "Cylinder" to "Fuselage", but I didn't click in the text box, and I hit several commands by accident. I now have an annoying blue cross that only allows me to move vertices in about 1m increments. Anyone know what I did? And also a sneek peek at the G-V.Thank YouPaul

This plane had been working ok but something changed that I can't figure out. External parts behind the prop disc become invisible while the VC parts show. I checked the textures and the texture file and could not see anything wrong. Once the prop slows down the parts will show again. Thanks for any help,John Woodward

I have a nice texture with ALPHA channel, whenI put it on my FSDS 2 mocel, it becomes transparent. I thought FSDS2 supported reflective textures? When I map out the texture for the part, it even says "must have alpha channel". ANy thoughts?

I want to share a method I use to visualize the contact points on an a/c. I added a fx light to the [LIGHTS] section of my aircraft.cfg using the coordinates for the contact point or wing apex point relative to the reference datum.Like thislight.7=3, -0.672, 0.00, 2.24, fx_navwhi // wing apex long lightlight.8=3, -11.00, 0.00, -2.10, fx_navwhi // wing apex vert lightNow, I can see if the wing apex is really where I want it or at least close.Steve

Hi All,This is more of an investigative question of a problem and was wondering if anyone has experienced the same thing or would know how I could fix this. When I add on a panel for some odd reason the speaker setting in windows control panel (XP Home) gets kicked from 5.1 speakers (I have Klipsch Pro media 5.1) to desktop speakers and lose function of the rear speakers. I have this occur with every analog panel I install into FS2K2 and am unable to identify what gauge or sound file may be causing this to happen. I've checked the panel.cfg's in hopes of spotting something obvious, but nogo. The most recent panels I've experienced this with are:Roberto Tomasoni's 747_238_…

I'm in the process of learning these aspects but I would like to release this aircraft before FS2004 is released :-P if anyone is interested contact me at [email protected] and let me see some of your work :-)P.S. please give me feedback on this model (be brutaly honest please) P.P.S Great job on the Socata N4Gix

Hi all,Could someone help me out here? How would I write a really basic program for FS2002? What I want to do is have an alarm sound when the master caution/warning light comes on on a particular aircraft. I have a .wav file, how would I get the file to replay continuously in a loop whenever the light came on?Thanks

I have been reading several of the tutorials on gear retraction, but I seem to be missing something. My nose gear group (tire, hub, and gear leg)is tagged c_gear. I have set up the animation sequence in Gmax which works fine. But, when exported to FS, no joy.I will be searching this and other forums for comments, but any helpful tip would be appreciated. Thanks as always!!!!

I have created the following map of the FS2002 electrical system (if you can call it that). I'm certain it is incomplete, but it is the best that I have been able to come up with from observations and from the parameters. It is time once again to show our customers from around the world the projects we have underway in this fantastic forum.UFO/Steve has started the show with his projects here:http://ftp.avsim.com/dcforum/DCForumID9/1571.html#0My most recent WIP was the construction of a Craftsman style tool box. This is just fooling around in the ProE class while the others were finishing the required class project. I will mount my class project on top of it. I will convert it to gmax and upload the source so you can have one on the ramp or in your factory/frepair facility. The F.A.R.T.S. new aircraft plant needs several more similar. As the msg says, we are accepting applications for 3…

Hello All,I'm not a designer of panels at all, but sometimes you do encounter things like a certain gauge which is habdy to aid to existing panels and VC's.Si I encountered the Reality XP gauge whic alerts the pilot of traffic when flying. I adapted the default Cessna 172 2d panel by adding a new windiw with the gauge, but I didn't manage to change the VC. I thing that the principle is the same. To test it I just replaced the annunciator gauge with the Reality XP gauge, giving it the same parameters qua placement and width/height and that worked. however when I wanted it to place somewhere else by using incremental changing the parameters for placement and width/height, i…
