1/4 Rudder( also Elevator and Aileron)Effectiveness Speed =****1/2 Rudder Effectiveness Speed =*****I can "kind of" guess what it is - but have noticed wildly differing figures in obviously similar aircraft. Mostly the 1/2 Effectiveness speed figure is much larger than an aircrafts max speed.Any ideas?Barry

I had two requests today, one asking if I could convert my GMax FS2002 design to FS2000 and the other asking for a conversion to CFS3 :-)I don't have either of these programs but can see problems. CFS3 is VC mode only and (I'll guess) a new MakeMDL file. FS2000 has a different setup regarding the perf data in the aircraft.cfg and .air files.I can see a work round in both cases but are their further pitfalls?Has anyone else got a known technique for either option? Thanks,

Anyone tried to animate a stick using V2? I managed to get the right/left movement ok. For the fore/aft movement I copy and pasted the stick and renamed it, but I can't coordinate the movements. It ends up with two sticks going in different directions. I must be using the wrong method or else I am not linking them correctly. Thanks,John Woodward

Hi,CFS2 gauges like p38f_lightning.gau seem to use their own Tooltip_IDs I can't find documented anywhere. I assume they are defined Tooltip_IDs because they give properly translated messages in my German FS2k2 version. I'd like to use them instead of some FS2k2 Tooltip_IDs which don't work correctly (e.g. attitude indicator, engine RPM or clock). I know how to edit sections but they don't have the translation feature and I couldn't figure out how to produce the pop-up of a CFS2 analog clock with XML yet. Using those Tooltip_IDs (if they exist) would just be convenient and a proper solution. Does anyone know something about it?TIA!Frank

How do you add thickness to window openings in the VC view? When you copy the exterior and reverse the polygons, should you scale the part inward? Then you would have to build polygons along all the window edges. It seems that would be a tedious process, plus the inner shell may not scale inward the same at each point (such as around slanted windows). Or do you just draw the window edges on the texture? Thanks,John Woodward

BTW does anyone know why some objects come out mishappen when output to FS from GMAX? See attached screenshot.I must not be awake. The left control is the throttle lever with a flatted oval handle and the right control is the mixture lever with a thin cylinder handle.Steve

I am totally flabbergasted, and I can assure you that my flabber rarely gets so throughly gasted!Since the intial release just after midnight (or whenever it was actually made available during the early morning), total downloads have grown to well over 1k.I haven't even checked the stats for my private server, nor flightsim.com...There's no longer any doubt in my mind that there's a HUGE, untapped 'marketplace' for good, light GA a/c! :)I am looking forward to the helping in the development of the Beriev BE 103...

I seem to be having a problem getting the tailwheel on my planes in FSDS 2 to rotate. The main gear was easy, and I di dthe same process for the tail wheel but it will not turn.I taigged the gear leg as c_gear, the tire as c_tire,c_tire_still, c_tire blurred. Any suggestions? I wa even able to animate that whole legg to compress on landing! Puzzled I am!Thanks to anyone with a suggestion!!

Default Spot View distance [/p] [/p]Sometime in the past 10 months.. I posted a `guide to setting spot view distance'. As a brief summary.. the general `spot view' would be set equal to 2x the aircraft wingspan. In actual FS flights.. it's almost always (here) set to 4x wingspan and then zoomed in 2x using the ' = ' key. This is for taking GREAT screen-cap pics. The question is.. how does one set the Default Spot View in feet?? Going to the pulldown menu is a pain-in-the-___ and sometimes crashes the Sim. There is a nifty utility for editing the MDL file at: http://www.tcdsoft.de/frame.htmlThis utility uses a `zoom factor' for spot view distance.. but how does it relate…
