In the SDK, there is Distance to next WPT (GPS_WP_DISTANCE), is there a variable for Distance to go to destination? I can't find one :-( I was hoping this would be a feature of the FS GPS - but it doesn't appear so...Anyone know if DTG can be calculated using the vars given in the SDK? Many thanks,Andrew

Since, we do not have a section at this form (yet) for Gmax only ,I decided to sort of start one. I have read many gmax tutorials, tips ,and stuff from the forms about gmax. All of the imformation has been good but, I think that after some of us have used the gmax program we have found that there are several different ways you can approach a project. Thats why I feel the need to let people(other designers) show and discuss how they tackled a task.(By sharing the secrets we have found out)I read the article "The Stupid Idiots' Guide to starting with gMax"By Hugh Shoults and I felt like man this is still hard to figue out.Well, I guessed I needed a article for the stupidest…

Trying to animate a 3 blade prop. First attempt was to maintain the individual blades and group them as a family of parts. The blades ended up rotating independently of each other. After numerous trials and looking through the help files, my last try is:1. Combine 3 blades into one part and select prop_still from the list of names.2. Copy and paste twice, rename as prop_slow and prop_blurred.Now there are two whole props that rotate together, looking like many blades, and they don't disappear. They also take a long time to stop at shut down.Any advice would be appreciated. I probably don't understand the procedure, and the help files need time to catch up with the release…

I took most of the day today and just managed to complete the VC night lighting. All the bitmaps have been updated as well...Now I just need to finish up some details on the exterior model...I've managed to slash nearly 5k 'excess polys,' and hope to get this down to a target of ~30k when done. Hopefully, it'll be ready for release this weekend. For those who've already d/l'ed the "Final Beta," I'm going to package a special 'upgrade,' so no one will have such a huge d/l again! :)I believe that I'm enjoying this a/c more at night now... :)

I have a small problem... I am not designing an aircraft, but I need help with a re-paint that was put out gor it. I was trying to find a good-looking LOT 737-400 that was freeware and I found one in the form of a repaint. But the only problem is, that when I put in in the Texture folder, and modify the airfcraft.cfg file, it will not come up in the menu! The repaint is for the Default 737, and that is where I looked. I tried 3 things, #1 - Just installing the textures traight. #2 - I tried to overwrite the Txtures in a previous aircraft and #3- I took the textures from the original 737 (Orbit) and put copied them into a new folder, and then put in the repaint. After all …

I have the following code. As it stands, the light (uses the L:var) will turn off when the aircraft is in the climb, and within 250ft of the AP Alt level. I have two codes; one for in climb, the other for in descent. How can I get them to work together? I believe I need an 'or' statement (||) somewhere. I have tried many variables of code with no luck :-(Climb Code:(L:ALT_ACQ, bool) 1 == (A:Indicated altitude, feet) (A:Autopilot altitude lock var, feet) 250 - > & if{ 0 (>L:ALT_ACQ, bool) }Descent Code:(L:ALT_ACQ, bool) 1 == (A:Indicated altitude, feet) (A:Autopilot altitude lock var, feet) 250 + < & if{ 0 (>L:ALT_ACQ, bool) }(Edit)Is there a 'Pitch Hol…

Hi Gang,I have been asked to change the reading of the default Baron 58 Altimeter from inches of mercury to millibars. I have printed off the coding for the gauge but as this is a first attempt at XML I would appreciate some help. I've looked at some of the tutorials and can see what the relevent sections of code do but am just a bit unsure of what changes to make. I will backup the gauge and have a go at it until one of you more experienced types reply.I would like to become more involved in this so please reply and pushstart me.

The following code works, but I cannot figure out how to insert the mask that must go between the face and the needles. The areas outlined in red should be part of the face. The needles are not to be visible in this area. I was trying a MaskImage command, but everytime I tried the gauge would not show up. Any help would be great. Thanks(A:Eng1 cylinder head temperature,celsius)(A:Eng2 cylinder head temperature, celsius)

All-My name is K.S. Weber. I'm from the Virtual US Navy, and we are currently frantically searching for a developer(s) who would be willing to design or at least help me try to design a nightvision "system" for our aircraft (rather than our current method of just setting the time to "day"). Of course, volunteers will be given full credit. If anyone is looking for a challenge, or just wants to try to help out, please contact me at [email protected] ASAP!Thanks a lot in advance.CDR. K.S. Should be available in a few hours or tonight, I guess. (EST)This is a big update which includes MANY more switchesfor your panels, and many new functions. This is a comprehensive set of 24 XML Multi-Gaugeswith switches and panel toggle buttons for panel designers and general users. It includes the updated cpt.icons.cab gauge, which has button toggles for 21 different panel idents, including all the default idents. There are now 23 switch bitmaps, including some lit switches. All the bitmaps were tuned by hand to be crisp and clear and free of artifacts. Each gauge performs all the same functions, but hasa different switch bitmap. Transparent versionsof all the toggles a…

Hello everybody !!I'm still working on my Airbus PFD (almost finished) and I'll soon work on a ND. For this reason, I need to know what is the difference between Ground Speed (GS) and the True Airspeed (TAS).I guess the difference is the wind influence. I mean that if there is no wind, GS = TAS.Am I right ?Thanks for your help.Eric

Hello,I have a question regarding multiple textures. I just started this method of texturing this week and I really like it. Ive been able to texture and unwrap the fuse to a single map, but as I move to the wings Ive run into a problem.I want to include the flaps and ailerons and the right wing into the same map, but since they are all seperate objects, it creates a new multi material when I try.Do I have to attach the control surfaces to the wing and then apply the Material IDs? Then after I apply the IDs, detach and reset the pivots? Thanks

Hey folks. I recently aquired FSDS V2 Gonna get my feet wet slowly..then build up to GMAX. I did a search to help find some good tutorials on begining design..found several. I also saw Finn's video on blueprint tidy up..very helpful. As well as, the backdrop video for GMAX. I know you can scale the background bitmaps in FSDS, but, I have found a tutorial that is a little more in depth on working with the background in FSDS. Unfortunatelly, it's in Italian; and it's a viewlet video file..so I can't just translate the page with browser. Finn's video is for GMAX; could this be adapted to FSDS...or does anybody know of a link to a step by step similar to the Italian one that …

When making a VC....well, more specifically, the yoke for a VC, do the following: Tag the yoke as aileron, and the yoke shaft elevator. (I think that is what the tags are in gmax) Why not use the given assignments for the yokes axis, you ask? Well, in this fashion, when the autopilot is active, then you see the yoke move regarding the autopilot inputs!!! Its very cool to see. Now, you are saying, "the yoke only moves side to side "x" degrees because that is the aileron deflection angles". Well, if you can double or even triple the turning angle of the yoke by doing the following (this can also apply to the pitch axis of the yoke). Make a little part that will be invisible…

Hi,Probably very stupid, but how do you create a MASK-IMAGE?I mean the ones that masks e.g. the scales in an attitude-indicator or altimeter etc. When i look at a mask-image in MS-paint i don't see anything, but when i take an other color, the mask doesn't work anymore.I need this info to create my own gaugebitmaps.thanks in advancephjvhhttp://ftp.avsim.com/dcforum/User_files/3dbc3a9471a37f1c.jpg
