Thanks to all the help I've received in this forum, my first aircraft is almost finished and ready for upload. I originally started this project as a AI-aircraft add-on for my Hua Hin scenery, but as I got deeper into it, I learned more about aircraft design, and little by little the project grew.I've been designing scenery for a couple years, and my idea was to design some basic aircraft models for use as AI. I started with the B-52, B-1, C-130, B707... but these models were pretty crappy because I was just starting out. They are definitely at the low end of the scale, even for AI aircraft.Anyway, I had been using FSDS to build my scenery, so I had the basic skills th…

The attached screenshots probably explain my problem better than i could do with typing. Basically can someone help me out with the problem of structures that are behind the reflective glass dissapearing? (circled in pics). Note this does still occur even if i flip the glass poly's to face the inside of the fuselage. http://www.aussim.com/pub/Dave/Images/reflect_1.jpghttp://www.aussim.com/pub/Dave/Images/reflect_2.jpg

Hi all!I'm kind of new to a/c design. I'm using FSDS2. I'm now into learning the animation process. I have seen a/cs that show a head movement in direction of the turn while one pushes the rudder one side or the other. Somehow there must be a link between this head animation and the rudder activation. In the same order of idea, I'm looking forward to animate the pilot's arm (3 parts - arm, forearm, hand) with the mouvement of the lever stick. Later, I will look to do the same with the legs and the rudder in an as natural as possible in synchronized fashion. Anitmating the stick or the rudder themselve is no problem. But getting the other parts to ride along is something e…

Hey all, I'm having problems making a display condition work. I'm trying to get tiedowns, wheel chocks and a "remove before flight" flaf on the pitot to appear and disapear depending on engine RPM. I set a condition of engine0 rpm=0 and tags of 0 and 0. the parts show up with the engine off at startup and then disapear when the engine starts, but when I shut down again the parts don't come back. Any Ideas??? other than waiting until Mike Crostwait finishes SDLEdit 2Brian

I'll just copy and paste:PLUS AN ADDED BONUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!IN ADDITION TO THE CD WITH THE ABOVE MENTIONED PLANES. THE WINNING BIDDER WILL RECEIVE INFORMATION ON WHERE TO GET LITERALLY THOUSANDS OF PLANES FOR FREE...THAT'S RIGHT FREE!!!!Great, so he's going to also sell the following links, www.flightsim.com, www.avsim.com, www.simflight.com etc...Check here: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...&category=11051Do you ever think this…

May I extend my sincerest congratulations to our very own Bob C. for having won the January, 2003 "Flightsim.com Developer's Award!"Since the winners are determined by the users, it is especially meaningful. That's two months in a row that one of "us" here at AVSIM.COM have won awards from the "other site..." :)Once again, congratulations, Bob. You deserve recognition for a lovely little bird!

How do I make my airplane show an animated nose wheel steering when on the ground and stopped? I noticed that the MS Boeing 737 moves the NWS with the rudder even if stopped, but my airplane doesn't. Is this something I need to flag in gmax, or perhaps in the AIR or aircraft.cfg file?ThanksEnrique

  16. Is it possible to write text in the FS window anywhere similarly to how ATIS scrolls on the messagebar at the top?I am seeking a way to give feedback to the user. For example, if the flaps are down and the airplane is going faster than 100 kias, i would want it to write on the screen "flaps limiting speed exceeded". How do I check those FS variables such as speed, then write to the screen depending on what I want to say? Thanks!Enrique

Hello, I'm making an MD-11. I've made a little webpage where you can see what its progress is.http://www.thescorned.homestead.com/md11.htmlMy question is about texture mapping. I know nothing about painting aircraft or how the texture maps are typically setup. So on a typical aircraft model, how should the texture maps be set up? One texture for the fuselage? Two? How many for the wings? Etc...Thanks for any help you can provide.-AV

How to make afterburners ?In fact, there are some questions here:1. Is there a tag for a part so I can make it visible when afterburners are on and invisible when they are off ?2. Is there an fx effect that is enabled with afterburners ? If yes, can anybody send it to me ([email protected]) or give a link ?3. Which section in aircraft.cfg is responsible for afterburners ? What is its format ? Or is it something in .air file ?Any ideas are welcomeThanks,Dimitri

I am building an FSDS airplane that has 5 different settings for the flaps. I use the key animation to set the various positions. When I creat the model, I used a model that also has 5 positions. The problem I am having is that after moving the 5 increments, the flaps only travelled about 1/2 their distance. I then tried it using another model for a base and it went 3/4 of the way. What is in the cgf or air (assuming thats where the problem is) that would limit the travel a part moves even if you have key frame set it do travel more? Thanks

Several months ago, I posted details on how to achieve nice, backlighted gauges in the VC at night. The only 'drawback' being that they are tied to the landing lights...Recently, I've learned, that if you create an Alpha channel and save your 'self-illumination map' as a DXT3 file, you can specify whether the illumination should be controlled by the navigation light switch OR the landing lights switch! If the Alpha channel is all white (255,255,255) / landing lightsIF the Alpha channel is all black (0,0,0) / navigation lightsYipee! The only problem I'm having is that it will work for everyone else but me!What I mean is, that while teaching another developer how to create VC …
