Is there any program, or method to open up an MDL file in plain english and make changes to it. According the FS2K2 MDL format SDK, the file is in a RIFF format.-Matt

This is a method that I just used to set the fuel consumption for a new plane:1. Install a fuel flow gauge on your panel. This is temporary, you can remove it later. I used: gauge12=Mooney_Bravo!Fuel Flow, 490, 3902. Determine the maxumum power of your engine (250 hp in the example below). Assume a fuel flow of .5 lb/hr per hp (if you have a known figure, use it). With a fuel weight of 6 lb/gal, do this: (250 x .5)/6 = 20.8 gal/hr3. Go to your airplane, press ctrl-period for the parking brake, give it full throttle, and see what fuel flow you get. Mixture must be full rich and you should be at sea level.4. Well it appears the use of a mold to hammer out the shape of the cowling may just work (Previous Post). This is my first try at a cowl having complex curves, and boy it's tough. I've got the right side done, now to do the left. Anyone know of tutorials on doing complex cowls?CheersBob C.

I was asked to do a new Hercules model for FS. I'm not sure if it's a good option. Believe me I really like the idea. And I'm a big fan of the aircraft having flown in it a few times. But I have a major lack of experience in Gmax.I've done part of a Beaver but I gave that up after getting so far down the wrong path that to recover meant to restart. I still have the files and possibly will revisit the aircraft in the future but found it to be a little tough with everything included. Hi all,New to fs2002 and this forum. I bought the standard edition so I don't have FSEdit. Is there a freeware or shareware program with similar capabilities and features. I would like to make some changes to some freeware aircraft I have downloaded. I need to repaint and tweak to flight parameters to more closely match the aircraft I have actually flown. I think I have what I need to repaint, but I'm not too clear on what is needed to change the aircraft files.Any help or suggestion appreciated.Tim

Please can someone help me....I am repainting a Kawasaki B117 in the livery of the local Police chopper. The model I am using has tansparent windows, but the moment I recolour the fuselage, the windows go opaque. I am sure there is a simple reason, but I am stumped! HiI made a dll that automates Brian Neeld rain effect. The problem is that there are a lot of users asking the same for snow effects. The effects are launched using FS2002 smoke system that means two different aircraft.cfg: one for snow and other for rain effects. Is there a way of automating the process, combining both on the same aircraft.cfg and launch the one I'm interested on?ThanksJos

Hello,I am new here and interested in XML programming for the purpose of designing aircraft instruments and the likes.I have collected a lot of info and looked at xml files to try and sort things out. I have the docs from Arne Bartels and the complete list of FS2002 vars. I counted them. 2240 in all. (-:Can anyone tell me where I could find a listing of instructions that are being used in regard to FS2002 possibly with adescription as to what they do? I am putting some down here so you know what I mean. Some of them I can understand because I did some programming in dBase, Basic etc.- - - - I looked in the Aicraft and Pane DSK but that has nothing to do with XMLYour help…
