    Been playing with FSDS 2 and the setting up of aircraft windows.... I think I've found a solution that may help beginners like myself, as long as no reflective textures are required on the fuse....Basically, I have found that I can define the windows with these steps:-I mark the fuse part as having transparent textures.-I use an alpha channel mask on the texture, only where the window is to be applied.-I copy the fuse to a second model, then "flip" the polys.-I repeat the same process for the alpha channel mask on the "interior" side of the window.This process seems to work well, as long as I have no reflections associated with the part.     Hello all,so it finally took also me into aircraft design... Not too easy because I don't have 3 views, just photos of mine of which most are not in a very useful perspective... Anyway, I have some questions.I've made the fuselage (far from being finished though) and wanted to make the canopy and the inside.1) So I'd cut out something from the fuselage - but how? Bool? Hey all,well I am just wondering if the following is possible, but I am getting just crazy results so I'd need your advice:The max. engine RPM should be at 7500 while tha max. prop RPM just about 2600. I set the engine data in the max_rated_rpm and now wanted to get the gear_reduction_ratio in the propeller section working.     Roger is having problems with some of his parts showing up black during night time. The textures seem to have black spots.I think it is a polygon/part problem, but if any of you have any ideas please make some comments. See the picture below.Thanks!Andrew

    Hi folks.This is probably a simple question for you. I am unsure as to how FS uses the bmp's in the 1024 and 640 sub folders in the main Gauges folder. My pc is a 1 gig Athlon so I am assuming it uses the higher resolution bmp's.I am new to gauge design. When I edit a gauge bmp or make a new one do I need to make two versions? One for each resolution. Or can I simply ignore the 640 folder?

    One more thing Folks.How do I know what resolution I am working in when using Paint Shop Pro for doing bmp's? Is it simply a case of exporting to the relevant 1024 or 640 folder and the file will automatically be right? Or is there a way to know? As at present I am only working from the 1024 folder and exporting new stuff into that folder.

    Can anyone tell how MSFS handles the Damage to a plane?I mean, If I have a podstrike with the default 747 then the wing simply breaks off and you crash. Can you have several levels of damage? E.g. If you strike the ground with your wingtip, can you model the wingtip breaking off or being damaged. I would like to have some info on this because I want to implement an extensive damage model to my current project. I was thinking of things like:- Collapsing gear- Folded props after contact with the ground- (Small) parts of the aircraft being torn off- (Small) parts of the aircraft being dented- etc....     Can someone help me with it?I'm working on a Concorde FDE with AirEd, but I've got a problem with the thrust decrease that happens with altitude. The Olympus 593 produces 31,350 lbs dry, and 37,080 with reheat at SL. The thing is that at around FL500 until FL600 they produce 11,000 to 10,000 lbs. But on FS I'm getting 16,150 lbs at FL510 and 11,769 at FL575. This is causing a SFC of 0,914 and this value is constant between FL490 until FL575 with 100% of throttle. This could mean that the thrust decrease is attached to fuel consumption. The SFC should be 1,15 on Concorde at Mach 2.This excess of power creates a need for big drag at Mach 2 to simulate the Concorde's cruise …

The prototype in the garage is what I should be working on but a guy has got to have some fun some time. Thought I might see how well it might fly.     Verran is using GMAX. Verran is having issues with moving objects around, including the landing gear, and position movements become animated as bezier curves, no matter what the controller is.I need someone to give me detailed instructions on how to animate an objects position movement, with it moving EXACTLY from point A to point B, not from point A to Hell's Half Creation then to B, but directly from A to B; because I just apparently am too bloody stupid.Verran

    I have created a VC with hi resolution textures of 2048X1024. It looks great of course, but only in Virtual Cockpit Resolution Quality LOW setting in FS/Options/Settings/Aircraft. Changing the resolution to HIGH causes the textures and gauges on the panel to disappear. Anyone know what the max texture size should be to be able to use the hi res setting? Milton

    Thanks for reading my post.Whilst I've been flying MSFS for around 6yrs now I've always kept away from design and amending files. However I have tried to add my favourite panels to a few aircraft - some sucessfully !Can anyone tell me what I need to do to alter the default cockpit view. By this I mean when I change views I have to keep pressing shift+enter / shift+bspace. Can I change something in panel.cfg?Thanks and happy flying.:-zhelp

    hi,i have been making a MD81 for quite a while now, and i have got most of the aircraft modelled and some parts animated. I would like to have a set of MD80 guages and a panal to releace it with, but sadly i don't have any knowledge of programming +CC (something like that!) or XML. I am also thinking of maybe putting a virtual cockpit in, but i wuoldn't do that unless i could have some guages for it.     I have a question about repaints... I downloaded the Beechcraft Baron 58 Paint kit... my question is, after I repaint it, what steps do I take to make it show up under the selectable liveries section in FS2K2? I reduced color depth, changed it to bmp twice, and modified the .cfg file in the aircraft folder to accept this livery... I even went and found out how Microsoft got their textures to show up, but mine is not working... any ideas? Help would be appreciated as I have been working on this problem for a few months now and nothing is happening... Thanks!
