Are they encoded within the *.mdl files ? What type of autopilot controller (PID with gain-scheduling perhaps?) is used in FS2002 ?I am considering using FS2002 to play with intelligent flight control and would like to be able to implement different autopilot types. What tools will I need to handle the mdl files ?Adam

I was just getting ready to zip up an update which requires only changing the mdl file. However, the model folder has a mdl file and a mdl.mpi file. None of my other aircraft have a mpi file. So:1. What is mpi?2. Can I replace just the mdl or do I need to include both?3. Can I delete the mpi without creating a disaster? Thanks,John Woodward

I was trying to program a switch to turn on/off Vertical Speed using the XML event AP_VS_HOLD, but apparently this is another one that 'got away' when the MSFS team was programming FS2k2.Has anyone developed a 'work around' for this?

Hey John!I just downloaded your Lake Renegade and went to test it. It would be very nice plane indeed, but there is one thing that I would like to see fixed. You obviously have the part order wrong. For example the pilot can be seen "in front" the glass from other side, when it should be behind the glass, like it is on the other side. Look at my screenshot...There is very simple fix for this. Just cut/paste (ctrl+x and after that ctrl+v) all your glass parts one time. This will move the glass parts on the top of the part order list. I know it reguires a patch from you, but this is too good plane to not have things right. Hope you will be able to do it. This seems to be to…

I am designing a tiger moth, and used some values from other available freeware rojects, however when i put in the values for the engine and propeller, the engine wont start after shutdown.general data 130 HPtrustscalar 0.951Power scalar 0.954Min RPM 500Max 2350Can someone help me with this problem? and is there a general rule for those settings? Engine will start when i set power scalar to 0.98 but then plane flies not as it should. Person from whom i borrowed these values has not got any problem with starting the enigine after shut down.waiting on your responseleon schuiling

Hi All,I'm working on a vertical moving Barber Pole for an Airspeed strip of a PFD. Unfortunatetly it doesn't work. The speed strip is moving from up to down and has a red bar on the right side. The Barber Pole strip has a black bar on the right side and should moving upwards on the Airspeed strip and cover the red bar. The next strip is for Vs0 which covers the Airspeed and Barber Pole strip with a red and yellow line to show Vs0. This strip is also moving upwards on the airspeed strip. Here is a part of the PFD code:(A:Airspeed select indicated or true, knots)(A:Airspeed Barber Pole, knots)(A:Design Speed Vso, knots)With this code just the Airspeed strip is moving. I cou…

I am at the end of my very short rope!!!!!!!! LOL!!!!!!I am trying to animate elevator trim in FSDS2. It is a "stock animation" and not a keyframe animation. Problem is, stock animator does it in reverse. I have tried flipping all the axis and it still moves the same way no matter what I do to the axis. I am also trying to animate a trim indicator that moves around the Y axis rather than the X axis like the elevator tabs do. Tricky little FSDS makes the part move exactly the same as the tabs. GRRRRRRRR. Anyone dare to tackle this one? Thanks

Hi peopleIn my last post(MSFS Scenery Design forum) about trying to create a new lamp using Kaveh Payandeh tecnology in night lightning in aircrafts. For those who doesn't know it, it iluminates the aircraft without changing the textures of the aircraft.im my other post i tried to know if someone could use that tecnology to create a new lamp(scenery design). People tried but no sucess. Now i thought in a new way: There is some airplanes that have a scenery with it, like this, when the aircraft is off, the included scenery appears, like cars, luggage, stairs etc.if we could iluminate all aircraft using Kaveh Payandeh light, like simulating it has a lamp over it, and when we …

Help please? FSEDIT is now giving me a error "fsedit has cause an error in MSVCRT.DLL and MFC42.DLL where as it worked fine before. This occurs now when I try to open "any" panel. 14. Hi all,I'm planning to release a SDK set in order to allow a panel and gauge developer to be able to use LCD screens, such as the ones featured in the Reality XP Flight Line Avionics NAV/COM radios, in anyone's panel. This would be offered as a freeware gauge, and a typical code skeleton to use it. The actual implementation would most likely be a gauge file, which takes a 5th parameter to indicate a named variable in the panel.cfg directly. Then a gauge which would disply something on this screen gauge would just have to retrieve the named variable for a pointer to a structure with the available parameters to change the displayed text, make characters blink...If there is e…

Hi guysI have asked this question before (many moons ago) and I didn't get an answer then but perhaps with the passage of time some of you program wizards may have now found a way!!!!Is it possible to change the pilot that we see in the spot plane view from say female to male (or vice versa)?I talk to ATC in my big gruff voice and then see Britney Spears in the cockpit.............no forget it ...I've just had another idea ;)

Hi again,Most modern aircraft have some type of N1 limiter built into the AutoThrottle.I've been trying to create such a thing all week-end (spent about 8 hours testing all kind of algorithms to simulate this) but I just didn't succeed !Basically I want to do 2 things: a) make sure the N1 value never exceeds the limit calculated by the N1 computer (e.g. Max N1=110%):( add an "N1" autothrottle button which moves the throttles forward so the maximum N1 is reached and maintained (e.g. during take-off).The main problem off course is that the throttle setting is not directly related to the N1 reading of the engine in that the engine takes time to stabilise at a certain setting…

Hallo,I'm working on a code to let a needle point a value. There are 2 variables. The needle must show the value of the variable that is the highest at a certain moment. Here are the codes. The first:(L:Switch1, bool) if{ (A:ELECTRICAL MASTER BATTERY,percent) } els{ 0 } The second:(L:Switch1, bool) if{ (A:TURB ENG1 BLEED AIR,psi) } els{ 0 } So how to combine these two formulas in one, so that the needle gives the greatest value of the two variables? Thanks for advice!Janhttp://community.webshots.com/storage/1/v4...75aouncN_th.jpg

Hi,I am on the look out for a high quality painter to take-on/head up painting an initial fleet for my VA. I have already attempted a paint of a boeing 767 in our painscheme, and this would more than give the general idea of what we are aiming for. Sadly i can't do night textures yet, and i need to work on tail art.I have designed it in photoshop 7, so it would help if applicants used this. Please feel free to contact me at [email protected] :)http://skyline.skytecaerospace.com/avsim%20sig%201.jpg

What should a wing part be called to enable keyframe animation for it to flex? I know the animation is linked to the landing gear, but I just want to make sure that the wing is/isn't actually given a gear part name with it's parent being the compressed gear. Thanks!-AV

Hello all,This is my very first post on Avsim. I have been downloading a lot of goodies and ready reviews and news from this site. Could anyone out there who designs aircrafts for FS2002 help me with this issue:FS2002 offers four views: Cockpit, Virtual Cockpit, Tower, and Spot. Within cockpit view, you can press W to have: (A) a view showing the 2-D instrument panel, (:( a view showing six instruments, and © a view showing no instruments at all. I am referring to the cockpit view (with six instruments showing/or no instruments showing. Press the W key to see these cockpit view modes). Anyways, with the pilot looking straight ahead, the view that is parallel to the…

I've recently began making (or attempting to make) some xml gauges for flightsim. I have a basic idea of things but am by no means proficient. I've built most of the basic instruments including adding masks to certain ones like the altimeter window and the turn and bank. I'm stumped though on the cylinder head temp gauge as it isn't your normal gauge with a needle in the center. It is partially covered, with the needle partially behind the above cover. When I try to put the mask on it covers what it's supposed to fine but the needle does complete rotations rather than going to the assigned position on the gauge..remove the mask and it works fine. I've since tried masking o…
