I'd like to use NetPipes for a freeware VB program that would only need to retrieve the latitude and longitude of the current aircraft position. I'm reluctant to use FSUIPC, due to the uncertainty of it's availablility and potential cost. Anyone have any pointers. Can I use gps_export.dll? If so, can someone point to the methods that it exposes and the proper way to interface from VB?I'll continue to review the NetPipes SDK and if I find something that answers my questions, I'll post it here.TIA...Jim

My friend & fellow helo design enthusiast, Tom Heaverlo, pointed me to a site which has a (long) series of VTMs (video training modules) for most of the popular 3D modelling software and also Photoshop 7. The beauty of these is that much of the stuff is applicable to gmax. The first video is over an hour long and deals ONLY with the User Interface. With one single exception, everything the video "teaches" is equally applicable to gmax. To get them, you must "register". Once logged in, the login frame is replaced by a menu choice offering "downloads". After you go thru a screen agreeing to the conditions (bottom), you are then presented with a screen full of choices. T…

Just to let you know I'm working on a new add-on module for FS2002 called FSConnect. It's basic purpose is to allow third party programs to "read" and "write" state information from/to FS2002, similar to FSUIPC. When and if I get it done, it will be released as freeware. My basic motivation is to have something to support my EZ-Landclass program, and other similar freeware programs (AFCAD and others) in case FSUIPC ever goes payware.I've got the reading part done. That was fairly simple - just a matter of using the pre-defined function calls in the Panels & Guages SDK. However, I've found that writing values into FS2002 is much more difficult. My first reading of…

HI I'm struggeling with a MD80 aircraft.cfg. I'm a newbie to this but willing to learn. For the moment I having problems with a MD80. I have been steeling some values from other aircraft.cfg files but the plane seem to be very light upon touchdown and bounces a couple of times. Doesn't matter what speed or if I flare/not flare. Where in the cfg file do I change values for that particular behavior?

Hey everyone! I'm making an a330-200 and I am trying to figure out the best/most efficient way to make the wings with flaps, spoilers and ailerons...any ideas?

I am tuning my aircraft design prototype and having a problem now with shuddering at roughly 220 KIAS, dependent at times on boundry layer as well. It didnt exist until I lightened her up in the fuel tanks and such. Would anyone like to test fly it and see what they think it might be? I have it at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/fs2002professional/ if you should wish to fly it around the patch. The powerplant is a turbo prop, and I have been trying to get her to cruize at apprx. 300 KIAS, but she is holding at around 245 KIAS and is having trouble holding position on the ground with full brakes at 'low idle' setting at the turbine throttle quadrant. (main panel is King…

HY I woould like to know if there is anyway to get rid of the blue frame the surrounds my gauges ,gps etc when I bring it up in the Virtual COkpit view, and is also seems like it put a pretty big on frame rates on my system , in the 2-d panel when i bring something no blue frame and no hit on performance, is there a way to do this in VC mode too , THANKS FOR VIEWING

Hi - I asked this in the general forum but probably should have asked here...Is there a way to show trim, for example, as a numeric value on the panel >all the time< (not just when moused over) ? I'd like to be able to do this for other gauges and switches as well.I thought I saw this on a glass panel somewhere. Also, I'm wondering how the heck anyone can lay out a panel in the MSFS utility - I can't tell what any of the 10,000 gauges and so forth at the bottom do. Not very intuitive - maybe I'm missing something...Is there a panel layout method or program that will let a novice (like me!) create a panel with a minimum of coding? (I will do a little if necessary..)Fo…

But progress has been a little slow lately. Been concentrating on the interior lately, and find I spend more time "thinking" about how I am going model something rather than the actual modeling. Lot of trial and error testing also.Thought I would post a few shot's just for the heck of it.Take Care All!!Bob C.

Im working on an Oil Pressure gauge for a piston engine, and the code works on different aircraft, but on the particular aircraft it is meant for, it does not even show up. It was originally designed in a block of gauges, that is, there was 5 gauges together in a row, like on pipers and such. The whole block would not appear, but when the offending code for the oil pressure needle was removed, the entire block showed up, minus of course the oil pressure needle. I seperated the gauges and made them individual, but the oil pressure gauge still does not work. I have tried absolutely EVERYTHING, and now I am lead to belive that it is a conflick with the airfile or somethi…

Hi AllI am sure that you guys are tired or repeating the same things over and over. I have a question that has probably been asked before, but im going to ask it again. The thing is I am trying to design my first Bizjet using FSDS and havtried many different methods of getting the nose and windscreen tolook correct. I am pulling my hair out.I have looked for a tutorial on how to do windscreens but cant findone.I start with a tube and add cross sections as needed to get the outside shape looking right but then the problem is how to add or in this case remove the unwanted polys to create the windscrren. because all the polys are sloping downwards. and if you look at the side…

Is there a way for me to insert the Flight 1's FMC into other panels. To be little more specific I'm thinking of adding the FMC to Bill's ERJ-145.Is this work done by just editing the panel.cfg or is it some more behind it?Thnx!http://vatsim.pilotmedia.fi/statusindicato...or=SVA1&a=a.jpgPatrik Kaczmarek

I'm trying to select the External tanks. However, only these key events are available: KEY_FUEL_SELECTOR_OFF KEY_FUEL_SELECTOR_ALL KEY_FUEL_SELECTOR_LEFT KEY_FUEL_SELECTOR_RIGHT KEY_FUEL_SELECTOR_LEFT_AUX KEY_FUEL_SELECTOR_RIGHT_AUX KEY_FUEL_SELECTOR_CENTER KEY_FUEL_SELECTOR_SETHow does one go about selecting the External tanks to feed? Is it possible to use the KEY_FUEL_SELECTOR_SET in some way? I see these token vars are available: FUEL_TANK_SELECTOR_EXTERNAL1 = 9,FUEL_TANK_SELECTOR_EXTERNAL2 = 10,FUEL_TANK_SELECTOR_EXTERNAL_ALL = 17,So my guess would be to use the KEY_FUEL_SELECTOR_SET with either one of these numbers (9…

I would like to know why when I use the same gauge in 2-d panel and I put it onto the virtual panel it looses detail and some of its diplay features, and also shouldnt all gauges that work in 2-d panel alsowork in virtual panel , is their any config settings in FS to change this

Hello everyone. I'm thinking about having a go at turning the BAe 146 panel from the Eurowings package into an RJ85 panel.I haven't done any serious research yet, but as far as I know, I'll need to change the old mechanical ADI/HSI into an EADI/EHSI, and I'll need new engine instruments too.I'm planning to use the fantastic JetLine avionics from RealityXP for the EADI/EHSI, but can anyone think of a set of engine instruments I can use for the RJ85?Cheers.

I have a gauge I would like to receive a var sent out from a server gauge. I have read the SDK, which illustrates three syntax codes: void register_var_by_name(PVOID var, VAR_TYPE var_type, PSTRINGZ name)void unregister_var_by_name(PSTRINGZ name)void initialize_var_by_name(PMODULE_VAR module_var, PSTRINGZ name)However, I'm a little unsure how to use them, as I cannot find any examples in the SDK or elsewhere. If anyone has any experience setting up a client gauge to receive a custom var from a server gauge I would really appreciate a little help getting started! Many thanks. Andrew

Hi!As FS2002 doesn't work any more on my PC, I'm now flying FS98 again. As FS98 doesn't support XML, I'll try my best in C...Some questions: ===============MODULE_SETUP( GAUGE_HEADER_VERSION, 57, gauge_name, &list );What does the number 57 mean???What if a gauge is built of more than 1 Bitmap for the icon???MAKE_ICON( icon_strobe, BMP_ICON, plist10, NULL, IMAGE_USE_ERASE | IMAGE_USE_BRIGHT | IMAGE_USE_TRANSPARENCY | IMAGE_HIDDEN, 0,NULL, {247,83}, STROBE_LIGHTS, ICON_SWITCH_TYPE_SET_CUR_ICON, 1, 0, 0, ); And than, could you please have a short look at my first C gauge? It doesn't really want to compile! Would be nice!Regards,Harry :-)

Ive tried making a red tinted glass for the VC, but have been unsuccessful... It always looks grayIn GMAX: *My Bitmap texture is red*The underlying texture color is red*Opacity is set to 30Despite all this, the color of the glass in the MSFS looks gray.. Any ideas?Luhiss

Does anyone know of a simple way to cause strobes to flash faster, or even to flash in a double flash, pause, double flash frequency? It would be pretty cool to have some awesome strobes.Sincerely,Bill

Hi!I don't know so I ask...how is it possible to make moveable slots (on front side of a wing)? They should act automatically, in dependance on speed (low) and angle of attack (high).I think it possible somewhy by using a special gauge? If so, where I should find example I can use?I'm using FSDS2...Regards, Rysiekhttp://strony.wp.pl/wp/rippippip/ http://rippippip.tripod.com/posting to http://www.simnetair.com/forumplvatsim/

I want to know if there is a fix for the diffrent texture color around the gear lever, position lights clock etc. they are a totally color from the rest of the panel and it especially looks awfull at night, tried all diffrent settings and after removing those gauges from VC everything looks fine without them (PANEL IS NOW ONE COLOR BUT GAUGES ARE MISSING) so I think its the gauges that are causing the problem. Does anyone know where I could find a fix for this, or would I be able to fix this my self if I had a gauge editor or anyuthing like that PLEASE HELP ME

bluesky software development is currently searching1.) An aircraft/Virtual Cockpit/Cockpit panel bitmap designer for an upcoming commercial project. You have a lot of experiences in creating cockpits with 3D Studio Max or a similar program, you already created aircraft models with Virtual cockpit in gmax and edited the airfile for the appropriate performance.2.) Sound designer. You already created sounds for aircraft in FS2002 and are able to record real sounds for the simulation. Both jobs are only part-time. If you think you have enough spare time and a strong will to join a young group, send your application with a picture of you and all references tomarcel.burr@bluesky…
