Does anyone know if there is a clock/timer gauge around that can give an audible warning after a certain amount of time has passed.Or if not, can sound be added to an existing gauge.I want to be able to set a timer for say 50 minutes and then have some sort of audible beep when that amount of time has passed.Thanks.---------------------------------------Phil Jeff, Biggin Hill EGKBSenior First OfficerBritish Airways Virtualwww.bavirtual.co.uk

Is it possible for someone to please develop a simple application for FS2002 that makes engine gauges more true to life. Currently engine temps and pressures, rpms etc. between engines all change at the exact same rate and always always have the exact same value. Although in general, engine the difference between the say no.1 and no.2 engines is slight but is present.Could someone make it so that the engines differ by a couple rpm or a couple of degrees? I think the look of the engines would be far more realistic if this could be implemented.Regards,Steve

A few quick questions...hopefully a simple answer! LOLI'm just starting to experiment dynamic tooltips in FS2002 C-gauges, and am wondering about the "TOOLTIPTEXT_BASE" and following entries in gauges.h.Do these just create pre-formatted text for tooltips, or do they monitor and display the value of their corresponding VARs when used? Can someone give a rough example of how and where they should be used? I assume they would be used in the MOUSE_TOOLTIP_ARGS portion, but am not sure. Thanks!Mike

Hey all,I have been cruising through my plane design and suddenly when creating/cutting gear bays, then gear doors, I am suddenly having problems with other parts clinging to them as their high heiarchy parts tree placement order?~!@#$I once read here that you could go into somewhere here in windows notepad or notebook and see the heiarchy layout and change it. I am also wondering if it is possible that I am doing something wrong. Is there a way the professionals do it when they are creating a plane, in which perhaps they never assign parts a heiarchy yet until finishing the job?I also havent figured out how to work the heiarchy button on FSDS2. Perhaps I should have t…

Hey all,I was wondering if theres was a program somewhere that allowed you to preview what an aircraft would look like without loading the game. When painting planes, I find it very frustrating when I have to load and quit the game to change mismatched textures. Thanks.

Hi!Where/what do I change to stop having both hdg and alt on the mcp going to it's present heading and altitude when engaged? Ie. I would like to preset the heading when I'm flying on a gps track and have it engaged when I press hdg. If I do that now it goes back to present heading.

HiThe following stringTypDescend: %((A:TYPICAL DESCENT RATE,feet per minute))%!8.3fwill give me a readout of 1000 feet per minute in our aircraft, and this is too much (unpressurized from 8000 feet and below). It doesn't seem to have anything to do with what the default autopilot roc is set to. It appears that this value is what ATC will expect you to descend with during letdown from cruise altitude. Whenever I set autopilot descent rate below 1000 feet per minute, ATC starts complaining and eventually cancels ifr.Does anyone know where in the .aircfile and/or aircraft.cfg this can be modified?

I'm trying to make a face mask that goes over a face. The face mask is like a huge pair of sunglasses. It's partially transparent (about 80%). In GMax, I setup a new material with a blackish color, set about 80% opacity, and applied it to the mesh. In GMax it displays properly and I can see the face underneath as if I were looking through sunglasses. However, when I compile the model into flight simulator, the partially transparent facemask is only transparent through the left and right windows of the aircraft, and NOT the front windows. If you look at the pilots through the front window, the facemask completely dissappears and you can see the pilot's face completel…

Well, here is a sample shot of the panel to be used in the initial release of the Legacy. Not the slickest, but it should work OK.Now I need to work on the secondary windows, then the 3D version for the VC. As mentioned before, hopefully there will be an upgrade available later.RegardsBob C.

In reading the latest "Sport Aviation" I found an interesting article on panel building and layout. With in the article it mentions on an online location to assist in the layout.Go here and layout our your new panel with simple "drag and drop" before you work too hard and find it doesn't fit.http://epanelbuilder.com/Make a screen shot of your various designs for later reference. Simple and free. Regards,Bob

Dunno really know if this here is overloading, but anyway. How can I 're'-define a function, e. g. having funct(a,:( and funct(a,b,c,d) at the same time.Just a redefinition likevoid funct (char a, char :({ bla bla}void funct (char a, char b, char c, char d){ even more bla}doesn't work for me. MinGW kicks out some errors like "previous declaration of funct" or something like that.Etienne :-wave

In the process of evolving my plane I am working on, the sound of the gear retracting and extending has disappeared. I am using the following line in my sound file; [fltsim] alias=beech_king_air_350soundI am using this 'direction' technique because otherwise my model file will be massive during a download if they have to download all the sounds. (The King Air sound files are 9 megs big).Does anyone have any idea's? I would be grateful for any advice. Thanks Doug for the awesome information on the MOI inertia's.Bill

After an exhaustive series of trials, I've come to the conclusion that FSDS2 simply does not adhere strictly the the MSFS SDK, at least insofar as VC panel backlighting is concerned... The SDK insists that the gauge projection poly must have the $ prefix in order for FS2k2 to generate a texture at runtime. Likewise, the SDK specifies that the lightmap for backlighting must use the same filename, but without the prefix, and the suffix _L appended.Note that this is an exception to the usual practice of using just the _L suffix for ordinary lightmaps.Unfortunately, FSDS2 will not allow the user to specify the exact filename needed, but insists on prepending the $ incorrectl…

In addition to sites like airliners.net, one source for texturing ideas, both interior and exterior, is aso.com....In more than one instance, I've used interior screenshots found here to "texture" seats and walls-with surprisingly good results. I'm sure most of you know, but if you don't.....try it out.Another means I've used for interiors are some of the "effects" features of popular paint programs, such as the Arcsoft paint program that came with my digicam. I used a fill pattern and set of effects to create a very nice look for the sides of a cabin I'm working on, and to texture the seats....
