HiMy EHSI is now "working" what I _think_ is correctly in conjunction to a on/off speed slaving switch. If switch is off, it will drift like any other cheap gyro based indicator, if is is on it will be in close sync only affected by excessive yawing action (g's to follow). However, the checklist that comes with the POH I'm using (Cessna 421 :(, calls for a HI or LO speed on the slave switch. So I'm starting to think I've misunderstood this whole slaving option. Can anyone explain to me what this system actually does, and how a slaved HSI should respond under different circumstances?

Is it possible to have more than one .wav file play at the same time as specified in the Ground_Roll section of Sound.cfg? What I'm trying to do is have a "rattling" .wav file play, which would activate at a higher speed, in addition to the basic tire rolling .wav file that would normally play.I've checked the SDK & experimented. It seems that even though you can specify more than one .wav file through linking, it's only used when encountering different ground surfaces, as specified through the flags parameter. I tried linking the 2 files & specifying the same flags (see below), thinking they would play together, but it locked up FS2K2 when I chose the aircraft:[…

Rumor has it that the next update release of FSDS will have full DXT texture support. This will eliminate the need for two sets of textures: One for developing and one the actual sim. You will be able to apply and view DXT textures in FSDS. Look for it very soon. I believe it will be free for existing FSDS 2.x users. Also, look for a few other cool enhancements. Hi all, Been working on a few items lately but I can't figure out how to add reflective texturing to the model. I have the textures placed on it, and the whole nine yards. I've noticed that by running the Makemdl.exe file by itself there's a checkbox for "reflective mapping" but when I go to export in Gmax it runs Makemdl by itself using only the default choices. Any ideas? I have FS2k2 Pro, DXTBmp, PSP 7.0, Gmax 1.2. Am I missing a step? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also if someone wouldn't mind "dumbing down" the instructionsp lease. I'm a self taught 3D modeller. Thanks!

HiHas anyone or is anyone currently developing the PFD of the Cirrus SR22 as a gauge? I have searched the net but can only find Cirrus SR20 panel and plane. Thanks

Hi All,I have a problem with a simple single needle altimeter (similar to the Boeing 747 standby altimeter). The needle shows a wrong value in higher altitudes. For example: If I'm on ground the needle is at position 6 (for 600 feet) which is correct. At about 13000 feet the needle shows 8 (should be on 0). At 24000 feet the needle shows 7. The higher the altitude is the larger is the aberration. This is not only on my computer. I've uploaded a panel a couple of time ago where another Flightsimmer had the ame problem with my altimeter. I do absolutely not know why. The gauge based on the standby 747 altimeter just with some other bitmaps. Here's the code for the needle:(A…

does anyone know how to make an aircraft NOT move when the throttle on joystick is set to idle?on the king air and c208 this happens is there anyway to fix this (i've already tried changing the sensitivity and it didn't help).?

I found a thread on this subject on the DF forum but no one seems to have resolved the issue. I emailed Lou directly last night, but have found myself awake at 4:00AM desperately trying to resolve this issue. Funny how when something is not working one will expend all ones effort to find the problem! The short story here is...after removing Ariene 737 aircraft and re-installing the DF734 (I had mapped the DF panel to the Ariene model and wanted a clean start) I am now unable to import FS2002 flight plans from my system. When I go to import in the FMC is says FS2000 and the Screen is empty. What is the Deal?????????????????????????????Please help! I love this aircraft!

Hi guys,I was wondering if anybody is interested in developing the following aircraft/textures. I considered attempting this myself however I know that I don't have the skills at the moment to do them any real justice and it's probably best left to experienced developers. 1/ Repaint of Siai Marchetti SF260 (Bsed on the excellent Real Air Simulations aircraft). I flew this aircraft in the real world until some bright spark crashed it :( . Now it only lives in my memory and wish to now resurect it in FS2002. It was an Australian based aircraft with "Red Hawks" paint scheme, however it was more maroon rather than orange so I imagin it would be relatively painless to paint?? …

That's the problem - as soon as we have to use mirror modifier instead of "mirror selected objects" function in GMAX - this reults into following - part's animmation parameters, etc. stays the same. So, all the mirrored parts' animation needs reconfiguring from the very beginning... While, those parts and animation sometimes may be rather complex - so it is very time consuming and nerve consuming operation. (see example below). So, that is the question - is it somehow possible to mirror the part and animation it has properly and without a need to rework it again?... I reviewed several tutorials and Gmax help for that case - but could not find a solution.http://forums.av…

I am cleaning my attic, and some stuff is coming from the time I was working with Mikoyan Design Bureau. Two 1/48 scale drawings with threeview and multiple cross sections, specifically printed for the purpose of scaled aircraft mockup enthusiasts. Also includes instrument panel layout. Now I figured this is massive gold for whoever wants to create a detailed Gmax MiG-31.You cannot have a more accurate drawing than this one, as it has been edited and printed by Mikoyan Design Bureau itself. Of course, everything is in Russian. It was given to me by Anatoly Belosvet, the designer of the MiG-31.Cost $0.00I am giving it away to someone who will make good use of it, sorry for be…

I am trying to share my MS default panel for the 737-400 with another plane that I downloaded. I have tried to copy the entire panel directory from the 737 to the new plane, but I can't get the virtual cocpit to show up. The scenery is there, but none of the gagues, or backgrounds. It basically looks like you are sitting in mid air. I have also tried the "alias-b737_400panel" command in the pannel.cfg with the same results. All other views work fine, with the exception of the VC. The VC in the 737 itself works when I have the 737 selected, so I know that isn't the problem. Do I need to copy some other file from the 737's folders?

After all the discussions we had on this forum about vector gauges in VC, I tried something else: drawing vectors into a bitmap, and copy it (BitBlt) into the drawing area of the gauge. I thought that I could cheat the drawing system to make FS2002 draw the resulting bitmap instead of the bitmap defined for a STATIC_IMAGE.I am sorry to say that NOTHING worked. I had interesting results in 2D cockpit mode, but nothing was appearing in VC mode. I tried to draw directly into the hbmp (bitmap), into the IMAGE_SET or the IMAGE elements of the structure, but still, nothing appears in the VC.So my conclusion is the following: let's wait for FS2004... ;-)If anyone has another ide…

Is there a value in the .air file for changing wheel drag? I'm trying to make a tailskid aircraft behave better so that when the skid is on the ground it gives far more drag than a tailwheel..boneshttp://fsaviation.net

Greetings--I know that some of you have encountered this problem, and I sincerely hope someone can give me some advice. I am working on an aircraft in FSDS2 (a new and improved version of a model that I have completed in FSDS, with the keyframe animation and the additional new capabilities that v2 has to offer). I've run into the "sunken tire" phenomenon again, after generating the model. I was able to solve it in FSDS by fooling with the elevations of the reference parts (gear.center, gear.left/right, etc.). Yet the problem persists with the FSDS2 version. I've tried adjusting the gear.*** and aircraft.radius reference parts, but after several attempts the p…

Hi guys,I'm a complete newbie 2 modeling 4 flightsim but not 2 modeling in general. So I have my masterpiece all ready to test(no textures). The problem is I mirrored without using the mirror modifier. Now I have reversed normals is FS on the mirrored parts."Well erase and remirror you lazy SOB" i hear u say, but I have created doors windows etc from mirrored parts that no longer exist. This would entail many days of work 2 correct. The model was originally done in MAX 4.2 and 3ds'd to gmax. I know some of you guys have had this problem from checking some previous posts.Maybe I'm being obtuse, but I couldn't find an adeqate fix.If anyone knows a quicker fix than redrawing …

In Fs2000, I enjoyed mucking aorund with the following package:piprj3mm.zipFS2000 Piper J-3 Cub Maximum Complexity visual model. Designer : Manuel Medel; Flight Dynamics : Steve Small; Panel : Yannick Lavigne; Sounds : Aaron Swindle.Supported by FlightSim DevelopersFor a FS2000 aeroplane, it was way ahead of it's time and beats quite a few newer FS2002 a/c too :)Since then, I have accumulated around 8 hours actual real flying in a Super Cub and there's one thing that really annoys me. When taxying on the spot in real-life, you deflect the rudder in one snese and give short blips of power. The Cub then turns on a sixpence. Not so with this package. More like a turning ci…

Well, making a little bit of progress here. Some of the virtual panel is coming together. Also been experimenting with the illumination techniques Bill has been kind enough to share. Pretty Cool!!A problem I am seeing in the quages is the text is smaller than should be. Any hint of why this happening would be appreciated. Thanks!!Bob C.

Hi ALl,Is there a way to adjust the throttle via AirEd or other. I have a few a/c whos idle settings are a little to high and achieve full with tiny throttle movements. With some of these a/c I rarely push the throttle more than a 1/4" to achieve full power (throttle (TM-Cougar)is calibrated and working properly). Hense making small power setting changes is nearly impossible. I tried nulling the axis', curving the throw via Cougar software and macros, but no go.Also, is there way to dampen the brakes via Aired or other? Again braking on some a/c will send you through the wind screen with only quick taps on the brakes, while others make nice gradual, more realistic stops.I…

Can anyone shed some light on these? - Is there a maximum number of gauges allowed?- At what point would you expect to see a drop in performance due to a large number of gauges? (...or complexe coding within a smaller number of gauges)- Is XML slower than C gauges?- Explain how the FS engine processes gauge files?- Does it matter if lump multiple functions into a single gauge or create seperate gauge files for each function?thanksJohn
