Hi,Among all turboprop released for FS9, there are only one which has very realistic turboprop sounds: the DASH 8 by Oleksiy Frolov. I wouls even say it has the real sound of that bird. All other, included all payware do not simulate the real noise of a prop pitch change from feather to low RPM and low RPM to High RPM.I know that Olek programmed his plane from scratch, avoiding all restriction of the FS internal machine, but here should be a way to get that fixed.I am a turboprop freak, real world pilot and always disappointed when downloading, or buying a turboprop, because the sounds are too far from what one feel when flying that kind of bird for real. Except the DASH8…

I've been dabbling in panel editing since purchasing some reality xp gauges, but I've run into an obstacle. In some planes, I can't click gauges in the VC at all. I was under the impression that gauges that were referenced in the 2D panel would be clickable in the VC by default, but this is not what I'm finding in practice. For example, I have added the 530XP GPS to both the 2D and VC panels of carenados freeware 152 for 2k2, and the GPS is not clickable in the VC.I have a feeling that my problem lies in one of two places: 1.) most of the aircraft that I've run into problems with are 2k2 planes - maybe there are issues with 2k2 VCs that I'm not aware of (can 2k2 VCs b…

Just to let everyone know, there is a new magazine out called GameMaker. It's all about game modifications. I picked it up at Border's bookstore. I know B&N doesn't carry it. This is the first issue and FS02/04 is covered in it. They give a gmax tutorial were the magazine walks you through making the Concorde and scenery. It's pretty good for people wanting to start modeling.

Hi All,I want to use the XML variable (a:var) TURB ENG1 PRESSURE RATIO and have tried different codes without any success. This code is for a turboprop engine (ATR42), example:(A:TURB ENG1 PRESSURE RATIO,percent) Result is that the indication starts on 100 %. By changing to this code:(A:TURB ENG1 PRESSURE RATIO,percent) 65536 / 100 *the result is almost zero. Help on this one is appreciated!Another interesting "issue" is the way MSFS calculates hPA or millibars versus inches HG. According to the Gauges Tutorial by Dai Griffiths MSFS sets 29.92 in HG equal to 1013.2 mb, while the correct value should be 1013.25. I have set this calculation in an XML Altimeter like this:%((…

There are some bugs with the panel package that I rolled, but I am working on manual fixes for those and should have them worked out possibly this weekend. The panel, however, is definately more realistic and fun when used instead of the 777 panel. The known issues are:FMC only displays top half:This is actually not an issue. This is normal. This is actually a guage that displays flight information and aircraft stats such as V-speeds based on current loadouts, flight plan, etc. You cannot manually input information into this FMC nor place a flight plan via the FMC. It is just a display guage.Fonts hard to read:Some have trouble reading this panel, some do not. In eit…

  8. Hi All,I have a counter (not timer) which should be stopped when the flightsimulator is paused. I know that there is a K: variable for activating pause but I couldn't find an A: variable for a scan. Does anybody know which variable could be used here or a trck of how to realize it? It's for a XML gauge.Best RegardsMatthias

Hello - I have not posted here for quite a while. One thing and another have conspired to keep me away from my hobby. I was working on a FS model of the Yak 52, so the other day I dusted off the cobwebs and fired up FSDS again.Having learnt lessons from my attempts I decided to bin the whole model and start from scratch. I'm sure others do this as well :)A couple of screen shots uplaoded for your entertainment. Not good quality but better than words.I would like to know if there is anyone who would be interested in working on the textures for the completed model?. I am no artist and my efforts to date are simply not up to standard. The model is based on a 52 I owned for …

  12. Hi,Now that I'm working on the new version of my Pushback & Taxispeed gauges, I have encountered some nasty problems in both FS2002 and FS2004 w.r.t. the braking system (which appear to be bugs).FS2002======When using K:events AXIS_RIGHT_BRAKE_SET (and LEFT) in an XML gauge you can set a value (e.g. 8000 = 50%pressure) but there's no way after that to set the brakes Off again from that gauge via the same events, other than touching your physical toebrake pedals (which ARE well calibrated !)I tried the events BRAKES, BRAKES_RIGHT (LEFT), even PARKING_BRAKES .....So the only way is to use the K:events BRAKES and BRAKES_LEFT/RIGHT if you want to control the brakes from …

I discovered these events by accident, and decided to give them a go - just for fun. Boy, was that fun! I put the clickspot into the attitude indicator. Click and drag to pan around, and also (although unexpected) click to activate drag which holds until either mouse button is reclicked. The defined area is the top portion of my attitude indicator. Change to suit. 8000 and 4000 gives about 45

For the past 2 years, I've been working on adding military AI to my sim.The biggest drawback is that you can't find any military models built expressly for AI use.I wonder, why is that? Are military models harder to design?Besides regional aircraft, the military aspect of AI in flight sims is sorely lacking. There is a HUGE niche to be filled by someone with the time, talent and courage to model military AI.If someone would undertake this, they would quickly become famous in this hobby.I just can't seem to understand why these guys don't see this...??Can anyone enlighten me?KJhttp://fsgateway.com/frank/fs9paibeta.jpg

I remember some old Microprose WWII flight sim (1942 or something) featured that effect.I'm not really into gauge and effect modelling. But I guess I could make the sprite graphic though...maybe there's someone out there who could make the effect possible.-Daniel

Hi!I've some strange problems with the .h file! When compiling, the compiler wrote that message:C:ProgrammeMicrosoft Visual StudioMyProjectsgeschwindigkeitgeschwindigkeit.h(24) : fatal error RC1004: unexpected end of file found#define BMP_BG 0x1000#define BMP_NEEDLE 0x1003 <-- the error line, the last line of the file!I already had that error some time ago. I just deleted some blanks which were behind the 0x1003 and it worked. But this time it doesn't work! It's quite a strange problem, because the .h file is written correctly, in my opinion!Regards,Harry :-)

Hi,I have heard that the gauge refresh rate for XML is 18 times per second. Can I force this to change to 1 or 2 times per second? (i.e. the flap setting indicator ...does it really need to be refreshed 18 times per second.)I would assume that being able to reduce specific gauge refresh rates will improve overall FS performance and FPS. Is this true?I remember once seeing an XML tag, located at the header of the gauge file, that appeared to control the gauges refresh rate. Please explain this functionality. Thanks,John

Here is some new information on raindrops on VC windows. This is for FSDS2.1. First, I copy and pasted the windshield, renamed it, and checked the box for transparent textures. The polygons were flipped to point inward.2. The new windshield was deleted from the main model and added to the VC.3. One of the VC rain textures from the FS main texture folder was applied to the inside of the windshield. At this point, stationary raindrops will show on the windshield. I supect that the motion is caused by some type of animation sequence. There are 16 textures for the aircraft stopped and 16 for it moving. Something must cause FS to cycle through these to make the drops move acros…

I have exhausted the suggestions in this forum. I have tried using different icons, changed the IDENT codes to match and all the other things that I know of and cannot get one of my windows to open. I would be grateful for any experienced panel designers that could offer suggestions. I use a registered copy of FSPanel Studio and have the current update. Thanks in advance for your reply.Captain Wes
